Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. There is no place for a non-Muslim teacher or a child in a Muslim school. There are hundreds of state schools where Muslim children are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be designated as Muslim community schools. An ICM Poll of British Muslims showed that nearly half wanted their children to attend Muslim schools. There are only 143 Muslim schools. A state funded Muslim school in Birmingham has 220 pupils and more than 1000 applicants chasing just 60.
Majority of anti-Muslim stories are not about terrorism but about Muslim culture--the hijab, Muslim schools, family life and religiosity. Muslims in the west ought to be recognised as a western community, not as an alien culture.

Does anyone know if the practice of building toilets facing away from Mecca is generally followed in the world. I've been to Indonesia and Thailand more than a few times and my recollection is that it is not, though prayer facilities were evident. I also do not remember any of Islam's adherents worrying about facing one way or the other when taking care of business. It was not a topic of discussion though...
Knowing if indeed this is a problem is not only a good thing for cultural awareness but also if this is just another exploitation of the wests' ways.
BTW mine all face east...ooops, my apologies Mo you'll have to wait till you get home to go.

...well, technically they do...they are properly called "maintained schools" and they are under the control of the local councils (Local Education Authorities in England and Wales; Department of Education in Northern Ireland)...they provide free education to the general population without regard to race or religion..these Local Education Authorities report to the Government...

you say schools do not belong to the state, yet what you propose is that the schools belong to an Islamic state, complete with all Islamic teachers, all Islamic courses, and no diversivacation with the students from the host country..
What you are proposing is a state within a state..in essence a prelude to complete takeover of the host country...
I would advise UK to immediately ban Muslim Immigration, to tighten on all those frivolous lawsuits brought on by Muslims, the complete unification of all maintained schools ...every student in UK should be required to attend the same schools...

Bull shit! I'm sure that poor, pathetic, persecuted, islamic youth would be most comfortable surrounded by people who look, speak, and believe as they do. That's why they should all go back to Pakistan or Bangladesh where they'll feel right at home. These people are living in the U.K., not Pakistan! They are expected to assimilate into the society they chose to live in, not create a separate, parallel society. From my observations few Muslims take part in any sport and even fewer probably watch it. As we saw from the games in Beijing only a handful of athletes from Islamic countries attended compared to the massive tide of fit people from the west.
So as not to offend Muslim loathers perhaps the toilets could be mounted on a swivel arrangement so that they could be spun to face Mecca. Only trying to be helpful.
I think this is a great idea. Most of the muslims athletes are not shining on the track anyway You mostly will find them in the toilets and sure they will be trying to explode something.
