Well known as an extremist and fanatic
"We are well-known as extremists and fanatics, and there are also Christians and Jews that are very extremist." They don't fly planes into buildings or cut off heads, but never mind -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has clearly learned how to play the moral equivalence games that will tug on Leftist heartstrings. Apparently he thinks he can get a more favorable judge than Kohlmann, and so is trying to get him disqualified.
"September 11 suspect grills U.S. judge on religion," by Randall Mikkelsen for Reuters, September 24 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
GUANTANAMO BAY U.S. NAVAL BASE, Cuba (Reuters) - Accused September 11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed asked a U.S. military judge whether he belonged to an "extremist" religious group, at an unusual Guantanamo war-crimes court hearing on TuesdayMohammed, acting as his own attorney, asked Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann about his views on religion and torture at a pre-trial hearing of five accused September 11 co-conspirators.
"We are well-known as extremists and fanatics, and there are also Christians and Jews that are very extremist," Mohammed told the judge.
"If you, for example, were part of Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson's groups, then you would not at all be impartial toward us," he said, referring to U.S. evangelical Christian leaders who have denounced Islam as violent.
Kohlmann replied that he did not belong to a congregation. "When I have attended church, I was a member of various Lutheran churches and Episcopal churches, and I have not attended any of them for a long time because I have moved so often," the judge said.
Kohlmann dismissed as "inaccurate," an assertion by co-defendant Ramzi Binalshibh that he had a "Jewish name."
Kohlmann was also asked about how he followed news coverage on the day of the attacks and replied that his memory was imprecise. He also said he had no opinion on the facts of the September 11 incident, which triggered U.S. President George W. Bush's "war on terror."
Binalshibh, Mohammed and three other defendants -- Mustafa Ahmed al Hawsawi, Walid bin Attash and Ali Abdul Aziz Ali -- are charged with conspiring with al Qaeda to kill civilians in the attacks.
The men face 2,973 counts of murder, one for each person killed when hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field. Prosecutors want to execute them if they are convicted.
UNIQUE TO MILITARY COURTS
Extensive exploratory questioning of a judge's qualifications and bias by the defense is unique to military courts, including the commissions set up by Congress to try suspected terrorists at the Guantanamo U.S. Naval base.
Defense attorneys said they had not yet decided whether to ask Kohlmann to disqualify himself based on his answers....
It is absurd that this man's fate rests in the uncertain hands of a judicial procedure. We claim that we cannot treat the war on islam like a criminal issue - but, that is precisely how we are treating it in this case.
What are we prepared to do if this court finds the Sheikh innocent?
That photograph. My eyes, my eyes!!!
Russell Peters though nails it.

"Kohlmann was also asked about how he followed news coverage on the day of the attacks and replied that his memory was imprecise."
Imprecise?
What American doesn't remember where he was and what he was doing when he first heard about the 9/11 attacks?
9/11 became one with November 22, 1963 and December 7, 1941.
All three are days where people who were above a certain age at the time can tell you, years later, exactly what they did.
It's one thing to say the question is irrelevant to the proceedings but the answer that was given should make people question the judge's veracity.
What "facts of the September 11 incident" does he have no opinion on?
IT HAPPENED! We all watched as the second plane flew into the tower. Months later, we watched French footage of the first plane hitting the other tower.
Here again, it's one thing to say he has no opinion of KSM's guilt in what happened on 9/11 but to say he had no opinion on the facts?
Islam will use the tolerance of Western Nations as well as our freedom of speech, racism and race laws with which to defeat us.
It's all rather ironic really that the societies of the West, through hundreds of years of warfare with one another, eventually wrote laws and constitution with which to make sure that invasions and exactly what Islam IS doing never happen.
However when Muhammad started asking Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann questions about HID views, then the Colonel should simply have stated "I am not on trial - you are" and have not answered any more probing questions into his beliefs.
This is what is wrong with the West in that by letting in an intolerant faith to live amongst tolerant people and worse still, allow them the protection you would tolerant people then you're only asking for trouble.
Hot Wax!
"If you, for example, were part of Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson's groups, then you would not at all be impartial toward us," he said, referring to U.S. evangelical Christian leaders who have denounced Islam as violent.
Well, I don't admire either one of these guys, BUT they are right, Islam is violent and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is a walking, breathing example of it.
No opinion about the 9/11 attacks?
That's comforting.
And inspirational.
Kohlmann dismissed as "inaccurate," an assertion by co-defendant Ramzi Binalshibh that he had a "Jewish name."
From the article.
And if his name had been of Jewish origin, so what? This "man" (animal would be a better word) is totally incapable of operating outside of an Islamic frame of reference. As a poster mentioned above, why was Kohlmann even answering these questions? They should have been overruled as irrelevant and inadmissible, and stricken from the record.
Look at this man's eyes, especially the right one. There's nothing behind them. He has the same look in that eye that I see in Ibrahim Hooper's eyes when he's on talk shows claiming everyone's a anti-Muslim bigot.
Eyes are a window to the soul, or lack thereof.
Defense attorneys said they had not yet decided whether to ask Kohlmann to disqualify himself based on his answers
the judge should be on the offensive and dismiss these lawyers!
