The recruitment of Administration Police officers set for next Wednesday should be put off until after the holy month of Ramadhan, Muslim clerics have said.Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya organising secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa on Wednesday appealed to the Government to postpone the drive because it will deprive young Muslims their constitutional right to join the force.
According to paid adverts in local dailies on Wednesday, the recruitment will take place at all the district and sub-district headquarters from 9am on September 24.

“On that day, Muslims will still be fasting and our young men interested in joining the force will not manage to participate in the exercise, which demands a lot of running,” said Sheikh Khalifa.
He proposed that the exercise be postponed to October 7 when Muslims will have completed fasting.
Meanwhile, the sixth Koran memorisation competition kicks off on Thursday at the Makadara grounds in Mombasa.
The winner of the main event, memorising the whole Koran, will win a Sh270,000 Hajj package with other event winners getting cash prizes...

If potential recruits will be too weak during Ramadan to participate in the recruitment exercise, would they not also be too weak to fight crime during future Ramadans once they're hired?
Oh give us a break! Too weak? From what I understand they don't really fast anyway. If they are weak it's probably from staying awake until the wee hours pigging their brains out.

Good point, Bigshaker. I guess crime will be cancelled during future Ramadans? Or perhaps all muslim cops will have the month of Ramadan off as a paid vacation?
Considering that they pig out (you should pardon the expression) as soon as the sun goes down, they shouldn't be all that weak the following day, unless the Ramadan rules are even more nutritionally damaging than we suppose.
If they are dumb enough to fall for Islam, they will be too naive to handle other real world scams, frauds, thieves and bunco artists.
