A schoolboy, said by prosecutors to be the youngest Briton to be convicted of a terrorism offence, was jailed for two years on Friday for his part in what prosecutors called a worldwide plot to target non-Muslims.Hammaad Munshi, 18, was found guilty last month of being part of a cell that spread extremist propaganda and provided practical guides on how to make poisons and suicide vests.
Detectives said Munshi, an IT expert who was just 16 when he was arrested at his home in Dewsbury, northern England, as he returned from school, was dedicated to al Qaeda's cause.
He used the Internet to circulate material including technical documents on how to make napalm and homemade explosives, and discussed how to smuggle a sword through airport security.
Al Qaeda propaganda promoting "murder and destruction" was stored on his computer and notes on martyrdom were hidden under his bed, London's Old Bailey court heard.
The teenager, who was convicted of making a record of information likely to be useful in terrorism, was sentenced on Friday to two years in a young offenders' institution.
Prosecutors said Munshi was part of a cell that provided information on terrorist techniques, training, weapons and explosives. The men were involved in a global conspiracy to "wipe out" non-Muslims, the court heard.
They said his co-accused Aabid Hussain Khan had recruited Munshi when he was just 15.
Khan was jailed for 12 years last month while the cell's other member Sultan Muhammad was given a 10-year term.
Judge Timothy Pontius said Munshi, the grandson of Islamic scholar Sheikh Yakub Munshi, president of the Islamic Research Institute of Great Britain at the Markazi Mosque in Dewsbury, had brought shame to his family and religion.
However he had been given a lighter sentence because he had fallen "under the spell of fanatical extremists" who took advantage of his naivety.
But the judge added: "There is no doubt that you knew what you were doing."

Great--he'll become even more radicalized in prison and be only 20 years old on release. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, though.
He can continue Mohammad and Allah's work in prison and they will give him time off for good behaviour. How many will he radicalize while in prison?

There needs to be a new law in the west. Any radical Muslim convicted of extremism needs to be deprogrammed and undergo intense psychiatric treatment. Brain wash them into becoming atheists, sort of like A clockwork orange.

Around here, he is considered an adult, and would be on his way to hardcore lock-up, with Bubba, and all his buddies....
The solution to this type of problem is, after he serves his two years, revoke citizenship and deport his and any family member within 3 generations forthwith. No appeals, no administrative hearings, just pack you bags and get out.
If these people are really interested in having a better life here in the West, they'll make sure no -one in the family is participating in jihad.
And if the ACLU (or whatever the Brit equivilant is), deport them too.

We will NOT win the war until the Middle East changes. That will take a much larger conflict than what has ever been seen. We can also win slowly, by engaging the enemy in offensive action. Forcing them to attack our armed forces. Iraq was that fight, but the enemy has cut back it's supply because of the high loss rate. They are now choosing new battlegrounds.
We need a new front that is NOT defensive. Syria and Iran come to mind, but we do not have the political will.

I have had this question before, I may have presented it here, don't remember, but...
During his two year stay in this detention center, he will have to go through health checks, see the doctor to monitor his health, etc. During one of these "routine" examinations, an injection for the flu or for some other benign ailment could be administered, at which time a micro chip is placed in his body. Upon his release, every move he makes could be tracked via GPS, the same as we now use to track our lost pets. Follow him for several years, gather intelligence, and then spring a trap that could net high profile targets. During the tracking phase, other targets could be identified, tracked, etc.
Is there some reason we are not doing this? Think of all of the intel we could be gathering if just ten percent of the people held in gitmo were tagged before release.

Two years? I'm surprised he got even that much!
In the US he'd probably get probation.
Judge Timmy Pontius Pilate should sentence himself to 50 years in prison for attempting to mollify the murderous nature of Islam as it exterminates non-Muslim cultures, and risking untold deaths when this terror boy gets out at 20. Two years is a rite of passage for these vile Islamic bigots. Pontius would rather we boil slowly to death in silence than bear witness to Islam's evil. The jihadists are not the problem, they could be quickly and permenently dealt with, it is people like Judge Pontius who are.

1. Surely the grandson of an 'Islamic scholar' would know what Islam was all about.
So: why is not Grandpa getting the third degree? Did Grandpa's house get a thorough going-over, from basement to attic, complete with sniffer dogs? Was grandpa's house inspected for hate literature and beheading videos?
2. 'The Islamic Research Institute'. Hmmm. How many 'scholars' does it have? How many students? How is it financed? By whom? What is in its library? On its computers? And - *Why* is it still up and running??!!!
3. The Markazi Mosque, Dewsbury - again - this mosque is now demonstrably connected with a major jihad plot. WHY was it not shut down yesterday and bulldozed flat (after having been gone through from attic to basement, sniffer dogs, the works, and its finances investigated by forensic accountants?).

I realize this is a sensitive topic, Robert, but to just delete the story and thread, without more, is disturbing to this dedicated fan and JW supporter. I now question whether ANY discussion about european nationlist parties is permitted. I think most of us know your position on these parties, and, on the idea of censorship. It's also your site and will abide by the rules, but I do not think erasing a posted story containing many thoughtful comments should disappear without some explanation.
