Of course, it was just a prank. That it frightened people, in accord with the Qur'anic directive to "strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies" (Qur'an 8:60), had nothing to do with it. How do we know that? We know it because we know people aren't motivated by such things. Really? And was Mahmet M. Kadayifci asked about his motives, questioned closely about why he would want to phone in these bomb threats, and what he hoped to accomplish thereby? Almost certainly not.
And that's my point. Mahmet M. Kadayifci may just be some idiot kid who was playing pranks. But when a young man named Mahmet is talking about bombs, police probing ought to go a bit deeper than that. I would bet a large sum of money that -- because of political correctness and fear of being accused of "racial profiling" -- it didn't.
"U.S. Open Employee Accused Of Making Bomb Threat," from the North Country Gazette, September 4 (thanks to Cindy):
QUEENS—A teenage employee at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, Queens, has been charged with making a series of phone calls to the venue Wednesday – while at work – claiming that a bomb had been planted at the Arthur Ashe Stadium there. The threats turned out to be a hoax.Mahmet M. Kadayifci, 19, of 34-24 77th St. in the Elmhurst section of Queens. Kadayifci, who is a contracted employee with the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) assigned to the fire watch area at the U.S. Open, is presently awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court in Kew Gardens on charges of first- and second-degree falsely reporting an incident. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Prosecutors said that shortly after midnight on Tuesday evening, the USTA Command Center received a telephone call from a female operator advising them that she worked as a relay operator for a company that facilitated conversations between hearing and hearing impaired individuals and that she had a message from a client that stated a bomb had been placed within Arthur Ashe Stadium. Ten minutes later, the Command Center received a second call from another operator, this time advising them that a bomb had been placed in the USTA’s Fire Command Center.
District attorney Richard A. Brown said that it is further alleged that at approximately 12:48 a.m., less than 30 minutes after the first call was received, an employee at the USTA Fire Command Center received a call from a third operator relaying a client’s message that stated there was a bomb in the fire command center and that this was a final warning. The employee immediately notified his supervisor of the threat. At the time all three messages were received, Kadayifci was working at the USTA Fire Command Center and it is alleged that he had a laptop with him which he continually accessed....
Only an Islamophobe would find this remotely suspicious! Every Muslim is taught at madrassa that the Prophet (Bomb Be On his Head) said, "Make bomb threats whenever ye can, for it is good in the eyes of the Ummah. Verily, Allah is merciful to us and nasty to the unbelievers."
So there. Don't make me issue a fatwa, infidel!
Hmmmm - Relay operators are for calls from deaf-mutes to/from others. The defense should use this
"certainly, NO one could be this stupid".
Islamophobia is a primitive impulse that must be rejected and here is why.
Computers are programmed to do searches in a certain way. First, the computer looks at the quickest set of choices in the search. Human brains operate similarily.
When my brain tries to determine "Friend or Foe" in order to keep me alive, which I now understand is a primitive impulse, my brain grabs the first bit of information which may be a name, a word, or a picture, when determining "Friend or Foe". So my primitive impulse is to think "Muslim", when I hear the word "bomb". Since I know my primitive impulses must always be distrusted, I now have to train myself to think "Islamophobia" when I hear the word "Bomb". And I have to do likewise when I hear the word Mohammad, Islam, middle east, etc.
Me thinks that I am finally getting the idea of Islamophobia ingrained in my brain and soon I will be ready to think "Friend" when I hear those words so that I may learn to become a willing victim of Islam and die.
Having read George Gilder's 'Sexual Suicide' many years ago, I recognized at once the adolescent male world of Islam for what it is. In the west Muslim 'youths' even if not really religious, find the 'dangerous' aura of Islam irresistible, especially if they feel second-rate, clumsy and (as they often do) fear and despise women.
We in the West are not allowed to hate what we fear. I know I say this ad nauseum but it goes to the heart of our dangerous 'emotional disconnect'. Not only do individuals not trust their 'gut feelings' - they are learning not to have real gut feelings, they are learning to have Pavlovian PC reactions to life even when there's no one around to hear them. This is true totalitarianism.
poetcomic1 - Your theory also explains why our society is so vulnerable to sociopaths. We need to "go with the gut" in our dealings with dangerous people, but the popular PC philosophy makes "victims" or those who victimize.
I'm sorry- I meant to type "OF those who victimize." Senior moment.
As with the boy who cried wolf, all we need are a few more hoaxes and people will shrug them off as run of the mill occurrences - every holiday or crowd will be threatened with jihad. How many times can you threaten to bomb the Super Bowl before people see you as a crank or a nuisance?
Bomb threats are almost commonplace. We can't spend all our time worrying about them and so we learn to ignore them. The "childish prank" that is prosecuted is met with cries of "government overreaching" or "police state" and those involved are let go with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
Then we'll wonder why no one saw the "obvious signs" when the next 9/11 happens.
He could be a terrorist/jihadist in training, doing low level operations just to get the feel of it.
Or he could just be bored and wants to stir up some action, like a pyromaniac who watches fire fighters put out his fire.
If it is the first, he is pleasing Allah, 8:60. And has set himself on the long, or short, path to the garden of delights.
If it is the second, Islam is failing him And Allah is not happy. Either way, the 'religion of peace' idea is not taking root.
Now that he has been arrested, it never will.
A prison manufactured Islamic robotron, dangerous to dar al-harb is his future.
Only apostasy can save him from the dreadful life Allah has ordained for him...
PMK - I think you might be right.
Every threat has to be checked, so even a false threat has the concrete effect of burning up money and manpower, tiring people, wearing them down.
I recall reading somewhere that the use of fake threats to demoralise was explicitly mentioned in one jihadist 'game plan' against America.
Another observation: a little more of this kind of thing and I do see many businesses and organisations thinking twice about hiring Muslims, any Muslims.
Because it is virtually impossible to tell the difference between a dangerous and a non-dangerous Muslim; the mere fact that they identify as a member of the Ummah tells you that there is a real possibility that they may at some point choose - in accord with the explicit teachings of their cult - to do you, and others, irreparable harm.
From article quoted above:
"Kadayifci, who is a contracted employee with the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) assigned to the *fire watch* area at the U.S. Open"
Sounds like a pyromaniac firefighter, who may start a fire and try to be a "hero".
The Muslim terrorists are only good for making threats - goto hell!
