(Reuters) - Al Qaeda has issued a video marking the September 11 attacks, in which deputy group leader Ayman al-Zawahri accuses Iran of taking part in a Western "Crusader" war against Islam, Al Jazeera television said on Monday.According to al-Jazeera's report, Zawahiri asserts that the "Iranian-Crusader alliance" -- now there's an oxymoron -- "has made it easier for America to invade Afghanistan and Iraq."
At least 50 messages have been broadcast by Osama bin Laden, Zawahri and their allies since the September 11 attacks in 2001.Following is a chronology of major statements attributed to Zawahri in the past year.
December 14 - Zawahri, in an audio recording, accuses Arab leaders of betraying the Palestinians by attending a Middle East peace conference in the United States and urges Muslims to keep fighting. Zawahri denounces Saudi Arabia and Egypt, saying they were serving Israel and U.S. interests.
December 16 - Zawahri says in a video posted on the Internet that Britain's handover of security in southern Iraq shows insurgents are gaining the upper hand there.
April 2, 2008 - In an audio message, Zawahri denounces the United Nations, vows to attack Jews both within and outside Israel and says bin Laden is alive and well.
April 18 - Zawahri mocks Bush's decision to suspend troop withdrawals from Iraq, saying the U.S. president was scared of admitting defeat. Zawahri also mocked hopes that the Awakening Councils, security units created by Sunni Arab tribal groups to fight al Qaeda in Iraq, would restore stability to the country.
April 22 - Zawahri says in the second and final instalment of his answers to questions compiled by Islamist Web sites that The Islamic State in Iraq remains the main force confronting the "crusaders" and their collaborators.

June 4 - In an Internet recording, Zawahri urges Palestinians to step up suicide and rocket attacks against Israel.
Aug 11 - An audio tape purportedly made by Zawahri accused then President Pervez Musharraf and other politicians of trying to destabilise Pakistan at the behest of the United States.
Aug 22 - Zawahri in a videotape on the Internet eulogises militants killed in a suspected U.S. air strike in Pakistan's border region in July.
Sept 8 - Al Qaeda issues a video in which deputy group leader Ayman al-Zawahri accuses Iran of taking part in a Western "Crusader" war against Islam.
Given the help Iran and its cats-paw Hezbullah has given al-Qaeda over the years, I suspect this is yet another "disinformation moment."

I sincerely hope Zawahri and the rest of al-Qaeda will stop tolerating this outrageous apostate-infidel behavior of Iran and start their attacks & suicide bombings on them – esp. on their anti-aircraft defenses - forthwith!
Part of this is Al Qaeda's sour grapes over the fact that Shia Iran has become the main benefactor of Sunni Hamas. The reason is obvious: As a state player with a powerful local proxy (Hezbollah), Iran can actually deliver the goods.
The differences between Al Qaeda and Iran are real...both sectarian and in the pursuit of sometimes competing interests . But only a fool who tends to see the world in neatly delineated compartments would conclude from this that there is no operational cooperation occurring between the two entities. That cooperation is well-documented.
But, "He's a good boy".

Takfir at its best. One imagines an Iranian Mullah and Osama bin Laden standing in a barren desert hurling insults at each other--"crusader dog!" "Filthy kuffr!" "Zionist Jew son of apes and pigs".
This is all the result of Iran's all too successful jockeying in the region, backing Hizb'allah and Hamas in the largely Sunni Middle East. Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs of Shi'ite Iran want to be seen as *the* agents of Jihad--but so does Sunni Wahhabi Saudi Arabia, with its mosque building and money Da'wa, and so does Al Qaeda, with its successfully pulling off 9/11 in the very heart of Dar-al-Harb--throw in the resurgent Taliban and the "Islamic Courts" of chaotic Somalia and all the rest of the violent Islamic splinter groups and you have quite a brew.
Whether all this inevitable Muslim in-fighting will be good for Infidels has yet to be seen--while it may keep more of the homicidal maniacs busy killing each other, it may also spur the various factions to vie with each other over who can strike more terror into the hearts of the unbelievers.
All of this, in any case, certainly gives the lie to "the peace of Islam"--except, of course, the peace of the grave. Repulsive.
A shame Al-Qaeda, apart from their video production dept., seems to be without operational competence.
What sweet irony it'd be if they would work for regime change in Iran - at their own expense!

Well, just as have surgically reconstructed "born-again virgins" in Muslim countries, maybe we'll start to see plastic surgery used to create the perfect zebiba--larger, more discolored, a bigger dent in the head--I can see it now. Get that "devout look" without all that bothersome mosque attendance, crushing headaches, and resulting brain damage . . .

That 'dent' is known as 'Zebiba' in the Islamic tradition.
