An update on this story. "Denmark: Two men found guilty of terror plot," from AdnKronos International, October 21:
Copenhagen, 21 Oct. (AKI) - A Danish citizen of Pakistani origin and an Afghani national were found guilty on Tuesday of preparing a terrorist attack after they were filmed mixing explosives.
Hammad Khuershid was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Abdoulghani Tokhi was sentenced to seven years by a court in the town of Glostrup, just outside the capital of Copenhagen. Both are in their early 20s.
The men were arrested after an anti-terror raid that saw Danish agents filming them as they were carrying out a test blast. The explosives were reportedly the same as those used in the 2005 London bombings that killed 52 people.
Both men claimed the explosives were going to be used for fireworks.
At the trial prosecutors alleged that Khuershid had ties to an Al-Qaeda operative but they were unsure whether the attack was going to take place in Denmark or abroad.
Investigators claimed to have found bomb-making manuals in the men's homes.
Tokhi has a residency permit to live legally in Denmark, but authorities said he would be deported after completing his sentence.
There have been several anti-terrorism raids, arrests of terrorism suspects and a terrorism trial in Denmark since 2005. That was the same year that the country attracted widespread condemnation from Muslims around the world after Danish daily Jyllands-Posten published cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.
Denmark is also involved in the war in Afghanistan and maintains a small contingent of troops in Iraq.
Denmark, where the State Religion has been Easygoing Tolerance, and Charity Toward The Third World Faithfully Funded For Decades. Could it have been a mistake? Could Danes, like others in Western Europe, have in their insouciance, even negligence, toward Islam, and Muslim invader/immigrants, have been doing permanent -- perhaps fatal -- damage to themselves, to their state, to their histories, to their freedom, to their conduct of art and science? Is it possble they could have created a situation for themselves that, because of the large-scale presence of Muslims, has led to a situation that, both for the indigenous Danes and for other, but non-Muslim immigrants, is more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous than would be the case without that large-scale Muslim presence, and there is nothing the Danes can do to change the texts, the tenets, the attitudes, the atmospherics of Islam, and they now must take a line harder than anything they have allowed themselves heretofore to contemplate, must work to save themselves from their own previous heedlessness, and sweetness, and trustingness, and folly.
I hope their cells are wallpapered with large copies of those cartoons. Or pictures of pigs. Or both.

Hugh's post goes right to the heart of the folly, the massive error, of indulging the intolerant while thinking one is enlightened while doing so. Poor Denmark is now paying the price for such flawed thinking, as are many other Western nations. Islam demonstrates time and time again that it is a burden to mankind and a most ungrateful recipient of dhimmi charity and kindness. What a monster the Islamic faith really is. Denmark, Europe, America, the West, please wake up.
And, oh, all those Muslim moderates out there, will you never realize your faith was founded by a very sexually active fraud, a psychopath, a brutal man, a control freak? Quit foisting your warped belief system on us, on anyone, on yourselves. Time to grow up.
I honestly think that is has come to the point that the police need to start "accidentally" dropping the ball until the public at large "gets it" about Islam, and their future existence. Stopping these things at this point will only lead to more death in the future, because everybody is too stupid to see the 40,000,000,000 pound gorilla in the room until it is chewing your guts out..

It discusses many of the requirements and programs the govt of Denmark has instituted to push immigrants into integrating into Danish society, not the other way around. Hope it works for them, we'll keep demanding that our govt institutes similar things (like Tancredo's bill to outlaw sharia law).

An article at Salon.com today suggests that all those disenchanted with America, should McCain win the election, move to Scandinavia forthwith. Apparently the area has no problems with those annoying Christians and their oppressive religious intolerance.

A good question. Here in Germany, Metin Kaplan (on JW just a few days ago) served four (!) years in prison for having incited his followers to kill a rivaling islamist. Before that, we granted him political asylum because he was persecuted in Turkey - for trying to overthrow the secular government. His trial could have been "unfair" in Turkey, so the German authorities preferred to let him demonstrate his gratefulness by leading a jihadist group in Germany. It took ages until he could finally be deported to Turkey. Again, a trial in Turkey might be "unfair". As it is well known, it is nearly impossible to deport jihadists back to where they belong, simply because of the sad state of countries with a Muslim majority.
For murder, one gets a "livelong" prison sentence, where "livelong" means something between fifteen and twentyfive years (depending on the detail of the crime and the behavior of the convicted while in prison). It is assumed that the murderer is reformed through the time he sits in prison. This may actually be true in some cases, but definitely not in all cases. A few years ago, the laws were changed so that people who are obviously unreformable and dangerous can be detained lifelong in the literal sense. These are usually sexual perverts like child rapists who murdered their victims. Today we have a few cases of highly dangerous individuals who cannot be locked away because there was no law that would have permitted that at the time when they were convicted. One of them (I think he had killed children for sexual motives) now lives in a little village where he is observed 24/7, at least until someone decides that this is too expensive. Needless to say that the villagers live in constant fear for the safety of their children.
I think the same fundamental error is at work here which is also responsible for dangerous immigration policies - the believe that all human beings are basically good, and if all human beings are good, then this must also be true for all societies. If there is Islamic violence, then this has nothing to do with the founder of Islam and the culture in which he lived, it must be because we treated Muslims badly (colonialism, etc.).
It is a cultural problem, and we need to change that.
Seven, twelve or twentyfive years for attempted mass murder (as in the case of the two Jihadists mentioned in the article) are ridiculous. Is that supposed to be a deterrent? Maybe trials are fair in Europe, but the sentences are not. Keep that in mind when Europeans give you a lecture on the vices of the American judicial system.
