More evidence that sharia law governs Egypt. A Christian man converts to Islam, and, even though Egypt's "Constitution" asserts that children under age 15 must remain with their mothers in case of separation, their two (apparently practicing) Christian boys must now reside with their Muslim father. Why? Because sharia law says so.

Kamilia Gaballah has fought with her ex-husband Medhat Ramses Labib over alimony support and custody of sons Andrew and Mario in 40 different cases since he left her and converted to Islam so that he could remarry in 1999.
The court ruled in favor of Labib in spite of Egyptian law’s Article 20, which grants custody of children to their mothers until the age of 15, and a fatwa (religious ruling) from Egypt’s most respected Islamic scholar, Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, giving her custody. “This decision was dangerous because it was not taken in accordance with Egyptian law but according to sharia [Islamic] law,” said Naguib Gobraiel, Gaballah’s lawyer and president of the Egyptian Union of Human Rights Organizations. He explained that Egypt’s civic code calls for children under the age of 15 to stay with their mother regardless of their religion. “They want to stay with their mother,” said Gobraiel. “They don’t know anything about Islam and sharia. They are Christians and go to church on Sundays.”

Why would a Copt convert to Islam, besides escaping the persecution? To get custody of his kids in a cheap ploy in a hellhole country like Egypt.
jdman -- Why would a Copt convert to Islam? The story gave the answer. He wanted another wife. If he had remained a Copt he would not have been able to get a divorce (except in very rare circumstances.)
I wonder if the children's identity cards will list them as Muslim or Christian. If they are listed as Muslim but practice Christianity any citizen can file a lawsuit against them. When they grow up they will be allowed to marry Christian girls but the children will be attend Islamic religion classes at school.
She made two mistakes: a) she converted to Islam and b) she married a muslim.

I wonder whether they just don't grant divorces to Christians in Egypt in order to oppress them, or if they have a parallel court system and the Coptic Church just won't let them divorce. It amazes me how even Christians in Islamic nations have no concept of secularism.
jdamn -- The Coptic Church regulates civil matters involving members of the church. If the couple had been Christians from different sects they could have been granted a divorce. But, it is very difficult for two Copts to obtain a divorce.
pulsar182 -- Kamilia Gaballah made no mistakes. She didn't convert to Islam and she married a Christian. It was her husband who decided he wanted out and converted to Islam.

Yes when you are in an Islamic country . you can expect to be under the Sharia law. The father converted to Islam in order to remarry and he knew that the mother will loose the children.
but In America, when Judge Fields gave full custody of the Ghawji boys to their father a self proclaimed Wahabi . forced the boys to follow Islam against their will. took their passports. and ordered them to Haj. HOW DO YOU CALL THAT?
The boys are now struggling financially and scared of their father promises, it is a daily nightmare for them and David Caywood, the father's attorney is now appealing an order of extending alimony and child support. Predatory lawyers and corrupt judges are the reason why Sharia law can be imposed in this country.
It is time to take a stand and a good look at the judicial system here .

Lots of conversion to Islam it is horrifying! We should do something about it. Jesus Christ warned us about false prophets and that we should watch out for the lost sheep. We Christians in Europe have to forbid conversion to Islam! After all it is our country and we are not even allowed to wear a cross in any Islamic country like Saudi Arabia.
