According to Hamas, marriage is like jihad not (necessarily) because it is full of "struggle," violence, and perpetual animosity between the Dar al-Husband and the Dar al-Wife, but rather because it begets children, who become jihadis and "martyrs." Hamas: always pragmatic.

GAZA: The grooms were resplendent in white shirts while the brides all wore black. At a sports stadium one recent October evening, thousands of Palestinians — 300 newly married couples along with relatives and friends — gathered for a mass wedding celebration, the 10th here this year courtesy of Hamas.Hamas, the militant Islamist group that controls Gaza, has been observing a truce with Israel since June, allowing its underground fighters to resurface but leaving them without much to do. At the same time, hundreds of the group's women have been recently widowed, their husbands having been killed either in confrontations with Israel or in the fighting last year between Hamas and its secular rival, Fatah.
Taking advantage of the pause in violence, the Hamas leaders have turned to matchmaking, bringing together single fighters and widows, and providing dowries and wedding parties for the many here who cannot afford such trappings of matrimony.

The story about the mass wedding about a mass wedding of 300 Arab Muslim men and women in Gaza, a mass wedding sponsored by Hamas, should be read in its entirety, for the best parts are in the full story. As one realizes, the individual desires or needs of the individual brides and grooms are of no signficance either to each other or to Hamas. These marriages have been arranged for the sole purpose of furthering procreation, and as one of the grooms said, to "producing another generation that believes in resistance." The women in question have all been married before, but were left widowed when their husbands died, either iin homicide-bombings or other terrorist acts against Israel or, in some cases, in actions against other Muslim Arabs, those in Fatah.
Three excerpts from the report are especially piquant and telling:

"The brides, sitting separately among the women, wore head scarves and black robes over their evening dresses but were easily spotted by their heavy makeup."
#3. Beyond-Belief Fanaticism, Or, Won't Niagara Falls Do?:
"Muhammad Yousef, the groom who equated marriage with jihad, came to celebrate and collect $200 even though his family is considered reasonably well off. In July 2006, an Israeli tank crew fired in his direction as he and his group fired rockets at Israel. He was badly wounded in the chest and both legs, and his friends took him for dead and celebrated his "martyrdom" on the way to the hospital morgue.
But he survived, and because of his severe physical injuries, moved from firing rockets to manufacturing them instead. Yousef said he shared all the details of his past with his wife before they married, and she accepted his way of life wholeheartedly. The night before the mass wedding party, he said, his wife shared with him her ultimate wish: to carry out a joint suicide attack against Israel.”
Keep that last sentence of the report firmly in mind:

Try to imagine Israel, or any other country, ever coming to some sort of understanding with, or even "integrating" into an Infidel nation-state, those who quite naturally can come to harbor such a desire.
It doesn't require Nuremeberg rallies and round-the-clock party inculcation. It is enough to read the most relevant parts of the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira, and, conscious that you are a Muslim, take them deeply to heart. That's enough. That's more than enough. And even though one may not always follow the rules about What Is Commanded and What Is Prohibited in Islam, may at times harbor some secret doubts about parts of Islam, it is the consciousness of "being a Muslim" that can be enough to cause someone, out of personal despair as well as religious fanaticism, to act the way a Muslim should act -- and that can mean danger, even murderous danger, for non-Muslims.
Try to imagine any non-Muslim woman, the night before her wedding, shyly confiding to her future husband her secret dream, her ultimate wish: with him, her new husband-to-be, "to carry out a joint suicide attack against Israel” or [Your Country Here].

If l were forced to marry a muslim man, l would indeed he go off as a martyr monthly if not weekly.
There is also a sad note the reason for such reason of bringing in more muslim children to this world, they blow up just too darn fast.
Is the photo posted with this item, of all the very young girls, really of a Hamas-sponsored wedding celebration? Several of them only look about ten years old.
Actually, now that I look at it again, even younger than ten....
The jihads are starting to pile up----violent jihad, stealth jihad, marriage jihad... Oh, marriage jihad could be a subchapter of violent jihad for the wife from the wedding night onwards.
Those are young girls specially chosen, and specially dressed, for the photographers whose work will appear in the Western press. This kind of thing is done routinely by the (undeclared but ever-present) Ministry of Propaganda, the one that also advises Arab women, when Israeli or American soldiers come round looking for terrorists, to make sure they are photographed carrying at least one child, with another clinging to her robes. Absolutely de rigueur.

Thank you Hugh for the explanation, but now I'm truly confused...they believe dressing up pre-pubescent girls and parading them in front of throngs of men as potential brides will make their culture seem *more* positive to Westerners? Truly warped!

I suppose thoughts about laying down the arms...and redeveloping those nice orchards, groves, and vineyards the Israelis left behind (only to be immediately destroyed by the Muslims), or turning their beaches in to tourist hotspots, or of creating some nice textile factories or manufacturing factories, or creating some sort of international finance center for middle eastern trade, or of a massive urban renewal program to start rebuilding all those delapidated shacks they reside in into nice clean, safe neighborhoods, or of rounding up those rabble rousers and troublemakers ...ever occurred to them...

I love how Muslims have tried to paint 'marriage' as something akin to the Judeo-Christian concept of marriage, but they never quite get it. I mean, they have invented a marriage ceremony (which was never part of traditional Islamic marriage) designed to make it seem as if Islamic 'marriage' weren't actually out-and-out sex slavery and just a contract between two men (a 'permission to penetrate') regarding money and a vagina (its very explicit about that), in which the woman never gives consent and is never asked, or is regarded as anything more than property to be transferred and paid for, as if to imply that a single Islamic 'marriage' had ever been carried consentually and were about anything more than the ongoing, institutionalized rape of a mutilated, undead corpse (in no way are these 'brides' considered human, nor have they ever been, nor could they ever be in such an institution), or as if there were some sort of relationship there other than that of sex slave to owner. This is what the 'ceremony' is designed to confer to Westerners, but when they speak of it they're never remotely careful to convey it as anything other than what it is: nikah, i.e., sex/sex slavery/rape/incest/child molestation/'marriage' (all the same thing to Muslims, as their texts make crystal clear by using one word to refer to all of the above).
May they all predetonate.
