In "An Ill Wind: Manhattan’s Muslim Day Parade Plus Much More" at Pajamas Media, October 13, Phyllis Chesler comments trenchantly on aspects of the Parade that the mainstream media will never tell you:
On my way to Penn Station on Friday afternoon, (on West 29th St. to be precise), there seemed to be some kind of demonstration going on. When we got closer we saw that it was a large Islamic prayer service which had spilled out onto the sidewalk and into the gutter. It was mainly a mass of prostrated men but women in hijab walked nearby. The driver, a silver-haired man of Greek and Bulgarian background, launched into a non-stop monologue.“I wouldn’t mind it if they came here to become Americans like I did. But no, they hate America. They want to stay the way they are but they want to take over America. You ought to see it in Astoria, Queens! Far bigger than this. You know why they’re on the sidewalk and in the street? Because they are really protesting not having larger and larger mosques.”
Well, their prayer service, (and it was that), did somehow seem like a protest. There was an aggressive rather than a humbled feeling in the air, more anger than love, a separatism but one right in-your-face.
Upon my return, several brave members of the LiberalHawks listserv group, including Pamela Hall, Tom Dolan, (of Gathering Eagles), Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, and others from the United American Committee were discussing the Muslim Day Parade. I watched a very disturbing Video and read personal accounts of what happened at yesterday’s parade. Unlike the Hispanic Day Parade, which also took place yesterday, the Muslim Day parade was aggressive, angry, confrontational, and did not seem very happy or joyful. No one was celebrating Islam’s many cultures and ethnicities. One sign read “Home of the Free Shari’a Movement.”
A number of super-angry bearded men tried to charge a small group of women who were holding signs which read “We Will Not Submit.” The men called one woman: “A fu–ing bitch,” “You whore,” “Your Talmud says you can rape a three year old,” “You baby murderer,” “The Jews kill little children,” “Rothschild was a Zionist,” (!). The background was a continuous roar of “Allahu-Akbar.”
One woman, (who prefers to remain anonymous), a member of the LiberalHawks listserv group, was threatened by a Muslim man. He threatened to “rape her fifty times.” He, and several other men, walked right through the barrier that had been erected to separate the two groups. Muslim parade marchers also photographed the protesters–a method of intimidation, a threat that they are being watched and might be stalked or worse. The police ended up having to protect the small band of protesters. In my time, it was the police who photographed the demonstrators, the demonstrators and counter-demonstrators did not photograph each other (unless they were FBI or CIA agents disguised as demonstrators or protesters)....

You have to understand that we live under a system of wergild as in the ancient Saxon kingdom of Wessex. Victims of crime were compensated according to their status: ethnic origin and class. Thus a noble was worth so much more than a landowner who was worth so much more than a slave etc. In modern America we have the same system. Members of various "protected" groups: Blacks, Hispanics, Asians etc. are worth more than Whites. Females are worth more than males, liberal Democrats are worth more than Republicans and so on. The system gets very complex when someone is a member of more than one group. Recently Muslims have attained protected status and so are worth more than Christians or Jews (or Hindus or Buddhists). So a hate crime can only be called such if committed against a victim who is higher on the scale than the perpetrator. Perhaps some academic can work out the exact numbers so it will be easy for the rest of us to figure it out.

Last night on Hannity & Colmes some of the video of the Manhattan Muslim Parade was shown where a Muslim was saying that Islam will eventually take over America and enforce Sharia law. The fellow looked familiar, one of the guys from "The Islamic Thinkers". Dr. Zhudi Jasser (forgive me if I didn't get the name right) was commenting on what was said on the video. Dr. Jasser is a practicing Muslim but is totally opposed to any introduction of Sharia when it comes to the freedoms of America. Colmes was in his full color display of his incredible ignorance when it comes to Islam; as usual playing a hard line prosecutor as he continuously stepped on all the reasons Dr.Jasser said it would be extremely dangerous to allow any form of sharia into America.
Yeah Back in '91-'92 I used to hang in Astoria quite a bit. No parade back then, but, you would get angry street Imams (or whatever you call the head honcho dude in the mosques) & crew on a corner spoutin' all sorts of hatred. Sometimes it would get a lil' scary. Once in a while there would be folks snappin' pix, on both sides. I'm sure I tried to get my mug in a few. This would happen anywhere in the 5 boroughs. Actually saw it once right in the middle of Times Square. Unfortunately, I could only think of how I would express my freedom of speach. But that would be called assault.

I never said he wasn't a "moderate", just that he was living in a fantasy world. He goes out of his way to differentiate Islam from Islamism, which in my estimation, is a useles semantical argument.
Like most Islamic "reformers", they spend far too much time trying to educate non-Muslims as opposed to their coreligionists who continually misunderstand their own religion.
Jasser's gesture is essentially empty. Until he addresses the textual mainstream concepts of Islamic supremacism and jihad, as inherent to Islam historically and as is practiced today, his gesture will remain as such.
I do not know if he is trying to ride this fence as an attempt to keep his head attached or not, but I think you are over-representing Robert's support for Jasser's work to date.

I too was watching Hannity and Colmes last night when this Dr. Jasser came on. I've not seen this movie(?) either but I found his own website to be more than enough. Any MUSLIM who says Islam in its current form is compatible with Western democracy is a liar, plain and simple.
He says every Muslim has a right to his own opinion on Islam. That means there are over one billion possible interpretations of the Koran and he has no problem with any of them.
There is no reconciling his statements that Islam doesn't support terrorism or that Islam supports equality between the sexes with the idea that anyone can interpret the Koran as he sees fit.

You speak as if I implied that sentiment in any way. I have not. Because of Jasser's position of not being a raging Islamist is in no way in itself the qualification needed by a true reformer.
A true reformer, would acknowledge the aspects of Islam that has transformed it into the 800-pound gorilla in the middle of the room and not try to explain it away as an 800-pound primate with no association to the gorilla.
As long as Islam is insulated from any and all criticism by prominent voices, the disinformmation will continue, and that is exactly what Jasser does.

I get the sense that Jasser feels somewhat the same. For instance, on the women issue, he never repudiates Islam's subjugation of women. He just says they should be equals, but so does the Koran, which then goes on to reduce women to undead-corpse sex slaves. Then he denies the pervasiveness of honor killings. He just doesn't want to live under Sharia. He may be honest about that. That doesn't mean he considers women and non-Muslims to be people. That could mean that he wants the Free World to be Egypt. That is just not good enough for me, and until he says otherwise I will operate on the assumption that that's what he means.

Consider Cronulla in Australia, a couple of years ago; and Acre in Israel, just recently. Both times the Muslims push push pushed till they crossed a 'red line' and the Infidels reacted; then, of course, the Muslims seized the excuse for a massive riot, followed by wailing claims of victimhood. But the Infidels (Australian in Sydney, Jewish in Acre) did show willing to fight. They exhibited anger.
In Sydney at least, so far as I know, since then there haven't been any more Muslim riots...they're laying low. I suspect that things may settle down in Acre for awhile, too, now they know that ordinary Jewish boys are prepared to throw rocks right back at their Muslim tormentors.
Consider what happened on a Canadian railway station in 2006: a Muslim, freshly charged up with hatred after Friday evening prayers, attacked a Jewish teenage girl on the railway platform. He was totally out of control. The girl's two young Gentile friends tried to help her, but were out of their league, and got hurt too (though: full marks to them for at least trying).
Now: had the girl and her friends been trained in tae kwon do/ kung fu/ karate/ judo, that Muslim punk would have been flattened so fast he'd never have even gotten a phone message out to his mates. And, I suspect, the Muslims might have decided to lay low awhile and not try their luck with the next seemingly vulnerable kafir victim.
If kafir were able to respond coolly, decisively and overwhelmingly to Muslim provocations occurring at the individual level, I think the muslims would think twice before attempting group attacks.
But anyone here, in any of the infidel lands, who is contemplating preparing themselves for the possibility of having to take direct action in scenarios such as that which took place in the Canadian railway station - visit the site of 'undaunted' who posts here. He is very wise.

Further thoughts, also for denverrodeo and anyone else who is thinking about the fact that we may - at some point - have to physically defend a friend, or ourselves, or a neighbour, from an attack by a wannabe jihadist or jihad gang (even at the level of having to confront a Muslim who is intent on shoving us into the gutter or off the footpath, a la the Hadith instruction to 'force them into the narrowest part of the road').

ethoman and duh-swami have both studied East Asian martial arts to a pretty high level.
More of us Infidels should, I think, acquire skills in that area, or perhaps the Israeli fighting art (krav maga) besides (especially if American) taking advantage of American law about the right to bear arms. The beauty of it is that anyone between age 5 and age 95 who can walk, can learn at least some of this stuff.

The thing is: even if a Muslim has attempted to learn the same arts to some level, if they come up against a trained kafir, it's Sith vs. Jedi, Balrog vs Gandalf, Voldemort vs Dumbledore.

Or read Ion L Idriess, 'The Desert Column', the account of the campaign that took the Australian Light Horse at lightning speed across the desert from Egypt to Jaffa; it's an account of a 'thinking' army, an army of free men, making things up as they went along, knocking over the Turkish Muslims and the Beduin by fury, accuracy, sheer guts, and smarts.
Take the 'eastern martial arts' mindset as defined by ethoman and duh-swami: it needs to be applied at a group as well as an individual level.
We kafir don't *like* getting angry - we're Tolkien's hobbits, Tolkien's Ents - but when we do, the Islamosphere will not know what's hit it - up till now we've been pulling our punches.
The things the Muslims despise in us - our self-control, our creativity, our *thinking*, our freedom, our capacity for intelligent co-operation and improvisation under pressure - are what makes an Infidel community, or an Infidel army, once focused, once it can see what it's dealing with, a much more deadly force, in the long run, than any rage-blind Muslim lynch mob or Muslim 'swarm' army.

No one can challenge the distribution of the material - It is an un-edited version of the Muslim Parade.
This is how Muslims parade - angry, violent and anti American and 99.99% of Muslims support Obama and Obama not only will he support and appease them, he will build them the biggest Mosques on tax payer's expense.
Both ABC and CNN praised the Muslim parades and showed only the peaceful prayer or the few peaceful seconds it may have had and the sound was replaced with commentator's voice. They both covered it as a no incident parade at worst. They did not let their audience see the support Obama signs or hear the devilish chants of "Allaho Akhra".

I like your analysis on the classes of protection in the US and the hierarchy of different status. I had thought about too but could not explain it as eloquently as you did.
Case and point, I am a white American and if I were to protest in support of the American Constitution and if I were to desecrate a Saudi flag, green with Islamic phrase that I believe says "Mohammed is a messenger of Allah" I could be murdered on the spot by a Muslim in the center of Manhattan while I am doing this in my own country under my own constitution and no police could protect me. When Muslims on the other hand, desecrate the American flag, time after time, they do not feel like they have to worry about a thing, our system that could not protect me as a white American has and will always protect the Muslims no matter how terrorist they might be or how many 911 like catastrophes they bring upon America.

I was alluding to something beyond mere "defense" in the legal sense, across the thin line more to something a little more, let us say, "proactive".
