Only a few days ahead of the American presidential election, Iranian parliamentary speaker 'Ali Larijani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah 'Ali Khamanai have launched harsh verbal attacks against the United States.Referring to the US army's attacks in Pakistan and Syria, Larijani said they would not be answered with diplomatic protests.
"The US method and conduct, expressed by this aggression, will only be stopped by a clear-cut and unexpected response, whose grounds were set by the martyr Hussein Fahmida," Larijani said during a parliamentary session on Wednesday.
Fahmida was 13 when he detonated an explosive device he carried on him, destroying an Iraqi tank during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s.
"America should be aware not to put its huge body on top of the suicide bombers' explosive devices," Larijani said.
On the same day, Khamanai said the differences between Iran and the US were far beyond differences of opinion.
"The Iranian people hate the US… [because of] the various plots the US government has hatched against Iran and the Iranian nation for the past five decades," Khamanai said.
The Supreme Leader added that any nation that would not honor Iran's identity and independence would have its "hands cut off."...

By the way, there are many nations out there (chiefly Islamic ones) that do not honour Israel's identity and independence. In fact, many of these nations believe Israel doesn't even exist or, worse still, in the case of Iran, they'd prefer to wipe Israel off the map.
However, in spite of genocidal calls being made against them, Israel doesn't go around saying that they will cut peoples' hands off.
Such violent rhetoric from Ayatollah 'Ali Khamanai is a clear sign that the Iranian leadership is insane.

How long is it going to take for "We the People" to realize that we are in a fundamental war between civilizations. As long as our natural enemy (since the 7th century) has the money and resources to think for a minute that they can defeat us, they will engage in every imaginable tactic to try do just that. They will use whatever propaganda serves their purpose as any given time just as other regimes of the past have done to win a war.
The only thing that will stop them is for us to convince all of them that they cannot beat us and that we can in fact beat them. So far, this tactic (called war) has not been tried with this enemy.

Yeah, there are a lot of Iranians that hate the US, true. What would one expect from isolated and indoctrinated people. But hating the US and ripping this guy to shreds are not mutually exclusive. Hating the US is clearly indoctrination, while hating the mullahs is the raw, visceral hatred of experience.
I hold out hope that the majority of Iranians, even if a thin majority, don't hate the US or its government, but see through the mullah's lies.

Why does the world not know more about the father of Iran's islamic revolution and the current state in Iran, the Grand Ayatollah Khomeini? His book Tahrir-ul-Vaseela is a window into the man himself....and other things. If the leader of any western county in the world had written a book about proper procedures when it comes to sex with babies and animals, he would have been put in jail. If people think Iran's religious leaders, the successors of Khomeini are nuts now, what would they think if they knew the full story about these islamic theologians? Is it because his writings were so insane, so vile, that people in the west can't grasp it? So much lack of information in the era of instant communication.

Gymgal, The world has chosen not to do anything about Iran's nuke program. At some point in time, Iran will have the bomb. And at some point in time they will have the rockets to deliver them. It will probably be sooner rather than later. (And at some point in time they will attack Israel and others including the USA with these nukes. The reason I say this is that there is no one that has shown any testosterone to stop them.)

Those that hate the US are generally the ones who were alive in 1979. Over seventy percent, more than two thirds, of the Iranian population is under thirty. They are the ones who say they love the US, and why wouldn't they? They're no different from people anywhere else in the world, including here. We all want what we don't have.

In other words, wanting to rip this guy to shreds doesn't mean you don't hate the US. You accused this guy of projection, suggesting that Iranians don't feel as he does, but they do. They have given us no indication otherwise.
You'll find Iranians who don't like living in the theocracy that was created in 1979 but that hasn't made them more accepting of non-Muslims. How many of them would allow in Iran what they get here - people of all religions living together without forcing the rest of the community to abide by their rules? Will they let Jews and Christians live in Iran on an equal basis with Muslims? Can the hijab go back in the dresser drawer? Can the convert from Islam walk the streets without fearing for his life? Will the state duly prosecute someone who killed the convert for leaving Islam? Will church bells ring and seders take place? Seeing is believing.

I enjoy National Geographic as much as the next guy, I've been a member of the society for over 20 years. But this information about the proportion of Zoroastrians in Iran is wrong. The CIA Factbook on Iran lists the country as 98% Muslim. This I believe.

It was 1965. That was when the Kennedy brothers, Bobby and Ted, introduced a bill to change our immigration laws. They had previously favored Europeans at the expense of Africa, Asia and Latin America but were changed to do the reverse.
