Makes sense -- especially since this sort of thing has plenty of precedents in Islamic history. Take the Islamic conquests, for example. Immediately after Muhammad's death (632), most of the Arab tribes tried to break away from Muslim authority, which led to the Ridda Wars (or "Apostasy Wars"), dominating the first caliph, Abu Bakr's, short reign (632-634). These civil wars were extremely bloody; tens of thousands of apostates were slain. Second caliph Omar, upon ascension, knew that the best way to put an end to the civil strife was to direct the Arabs' collective bellicosity to other peoples -- all in the name of jihad -- setting off the Islamic conquests. Ironically, one of the very first infidel regions to be conquered was Jerusalem. Thus today, since Muslims are losing focus on Israel, they fight and kill each other in Palestine -- or at least that's Islamic Jihad's take on it.

Similarly, Azzam demanded a halt to political arrests between Fatah and Hamas, stressing the need to support a reconciliation and end the division, easing the way for dialogue.
Well I was told that the Roman Empire stayed strong as long as it kept finding new peoples and lands to conquer. And that a shark will die if it stops swimming for long.
Similarly I realized that Islam did originally thrive and grow as long as it could offer its' followers what they wanted: the thrill of battle, the material rewards or martyrdom that ensued, and the companionship of partners-in-crime. Hence the need for new horizons after the conquest of Arabia and the bloody apostasy wars. It all fits with our growing awareness so far of how this gang grew so fast and wide.
But what a hideous and ruthless cult this is when the misinformation is stripped away and the ugly truth revealed.

Apart from all that, it is very clear that mohammedanism inculcates a combative and destructive frame of mind in a huge portion of its adherent population.
They certainly aren't the first human population to do that -- at least not with respect to combativeness. We have documentation on the Spartans, various American Indian tribes and others around the world.
But the mohammedans might be holding first place for random destructiveness.
In any case, there is always plenty of aggression left over to be directed at the thug next door, especially if there has been a momentary lull in hostilities with outsiders.

My brother and his son just got back from a trip to Israel, they also took a side trip to Jordan. Anyway taxi drivers in Israel all seem to be Arabs, and once they found out my brother and his son were Canadians, they opened up and the one taxi driver went ballistic saying that Israel will be destroyed in five years. My brother asked why five years, the taxi driver said it takes time to organize within Israel. Then my brother talked to an older lady on the plane from Canada. She is Jewish, and very involved lady works for various papers, said how the J.Post did not accurately portray Arabs right, and blah blah about how good NYT is, then said how they need to sit down and make peace with the Arabs, and how Israeli treat badly the Arabs. She asked my brother if he were voting in Israel who would he vote for, he said Benjamin Netanyahu and she blanched at that. He then proceded to tell her that you cannot appease muslims nor believe they think like her in wanting peace with Israel intact. And the final straw was when he told her that appeasement of a dictator last century produced millions killed by Hitler. Well it was a quiet plane ride after that. There was a very famous Cdn book called Two Solitudes, that could be compared to Israel, both within the Jewish citizens, those that understand their enemy and those that do not, and then lastly two solitudes could be betweem Israeli Jews and Arabs.

Yes--what insanity. What sort of "religion" is it, where the only thing that keeps them from their co-religionists' throats is the presence of a good Infidel enemy.
It would be as though, in the 1940s, Americans would not have been able to keep themselves from attacking Britain, or Holland--or from slaughtering the Belgians and the French--if it had not been for the existance of Nazi Germany to channel their insane agression.
