Any sensible person knows that the Crash of 1929 was worse than what we're going through now...and the West recovered from *that*, and lessons were learned, so I don't see why the West won't recover from this particular 'crash' as well. My grandparents were engaged in 1929 but were so poor they couldn't get married till 1934 - my grandfather spent those five years working like a dog to build up his little farm and the little house that they were to live in.
And long before 1929, there were other 'booms' and other 'busts', each disastrous at the time. Each time the West picked itself up and worked itself out of the hole.
The real wealth of 'the West', and indeed of the entire non-Muslim world, arises from the fact that most of its inhabitants are prepared to work, and many actually *like* to work; most are able and/or willing to think, even though some have gotten pretty slack about that lately; and many of us do our best to try to maintain the soil, water, forests and other things without which human life cannot be long sustained. We plant trees...we make gardens.
In the 'west', also, we have that little thing called 'the Golden Rule', and the concepts of 'truth-telling', 'reciprocity' and 'agreement', pacta servanda sunt, all of which help to create public trust and allow for vast, complex, long-term civilisational projects - such as, for example, creating the Hubble Space Telescope, or sending a probe to Mars.
Our civil society has taken a bit of a beating over the past forty years but it still exists. Example: the Surf Life Savers and the Bush Fire Brigades and State Emergency Services in Australia - made up entirely of volunteers. The capacity to co-operate, to organise, to help each other, to help even the needy stranger, is still there.
I think we'll make it.
And the Muslim world will still sit festering in the desolation and delusion created by Islam.

It's why stories like this aren't worth getting steamed about. If anything, they're a source of satisfaction. The Muslims show us, once again, just how far removed from reality they really are.
Only one thing would give me more satisfaction: for the Muslims to look toward the West after the next natural disaster (most likely an earthquake) and see not a single person riding to their rescue.
Of course it will never happen. The world is filled with better people than I, and they will never ignore suffering and will never turn a deaf ear to any person's cry for help.
The financial crisis is bad in and of itself. But the timing of it in connection with this election cyle is even worse. It appears more likely than not that Obama will be elected because of it.
Time is growing short on efforts to explain to the public, in a coherent and in-depth fashion, what his questionable affiliations have been and why they do in fact illuminate the candidate and where he is coming from.
Any efforts by the McCain campaign or the media to explain who William Ayers and his wife are and how they relate to Obama have been overshadowed by economic issues and have been so superficial as to be ineffective. Obama is actually getting away with calling this line of inquiry a distraction from the economic issues.
I think it would be a good idea to get a thread going in which people can contribute information and sources setting out the facts trying to come up with an exhaustive list of his questionable associations and the extent of those associations, trying to list sources for such info, and explaining why those associations do in fact create a strong circumstantial case that Obama has a radical agenda or he would not be involved with and supported by all of these radical people. I never see a full exposition all in the same place. You put it all together, and it becomes devastating, but few are paying attention.

I just wish his campaign people could find their ass with both hands and learn from Hillary's example, which is go negative with Obama and you'll win 8 out of 10 primaries. There was no dual Indonesian citizenship back then because Indonesia was at war (and because it's Indonesia). He was an Indonesian citizen, and when he came back to the US he never even went through immigration. He's not an American citizen for a few different reasons, which is why McCain produced his birth certificate and medical records right away when asked to (he was born in Panama because his parents were in the military), but Obama hasn't produced evidence of American citizenship and hired a CAIR lawyer to try to get the suit dismissed on a technicality. The treason issue isn't up for debate either, but it Probably won't do the trick because we unfortunately almost never prosecute or punish treason in the US. In any event there's always the illegal donations from Iran and 'Palestine.' The DNC should be banned for nominating someone like him.

Those are your words, not mine. The fact is that the Left in this country is in the bag for Obama. They tell us so daily. They show us with their actions, illegal election registrations, accusing people of racism if they don't like Obama (the last time I checked he was half white too, as if that were a reason to vote for somebody,) removing the impediment for non-violent felons to vote in the Fairfax County, Virginia jail, as long as they are willing to vote for Obama. So its not a stretch to consider the Annenberg group hostile to the truth if it will get their guy elected.
