Armed assailants have attacked a man, gouging out his eyes in front of his family in southern Afghanistan, officials say....Ghulam, 52, said three armed men knocked on his door in the Sangin district of Helmand province late Thursday. After he opened the door, they punched him in the face, put the barrel of a Kalashnikov rifle in his mouth and gouged out his eyes with a knife in the presence of his wife and seven children....
Daoud Ahmadi, the spokesman for Helmand's governor, blamed Taliban fighters for the attack, saying the militants often kill innocent Afghans.
"This guy Ghulam was just a normal man, a farmer," Ahmadi said.
"He didn't have any link with the government or NATO forces. He was a normal man, but these killers took out his eyes in front of his family. I don't know what kind of heart these killers have."
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi denied that Taliban fighters were involved....
Ghulam, whose head was almost completely wrapped in a large white bandage, said his attackers were wearing black turbans on their head like many Taliban fighters, but that he didn't know who carried out the attack.

This poor man. Afghanistan is just about as close to Hell on earth as you can get. Historical accounts of Mongol and Viking raids are no more savage. And remember, Afghanistan is about as "pure" an Islamic land as you can find--virtually 100% Muslim.
This is what they want for all of us. This is what "the Peace of Islam" would really look like.

Nobody deserves a government which proclaims Islam as its guiding light. Unless it can be reformed - highly unlikely given its 1,400 year history - the only thing deserving is that Islam be banished to the history books and studied as an example of how not to organize a goverment or to treat people.

I completely agree. I do not see how Islam can be "reformed" either, and I also support your idea that Islam be banished, because you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

You ´re right, champ, but they obviously make many people believe that this sow´s ear>is-lame" is a silk purse>religion of pieces, and that is exactly what makes it difficult to get it banished. Just like Nazism was virtually impossible to banish at its time.
Islam cannot bear anyone to be able to see the truth of Islam.
Their capacity to carry out gross acts of depravity knows no bounds. Unfortunately we in the West are also becoming brutalised by these events by actually reading about them and the frequency with which they occur. As a result we say 'what do you expect from a bunch of Islamic thugs'.
I notice that the Islamic world don't condemn these atrocities but are quick to accuse America of violations when they pursue terrorists into Syria.
