Speaking of modern, moderate Jordan, here is yet another honor killing.

AMMAN, Jordan — A Jordanian judicial official says a 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his sister to cleanse the family's honor.
The official says the man, who lives in the southern city of Aqaba, used his traditional robe to strangle the woman.
The official spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to speak to the media.
The man confessed to Sunday's killing, saying his sister would leave the family home without their approval.
In conservative Jordanian society, unsupervised movements by women damages a family's honor.
An average of 20 Jordanian women are murdered annually in honor killings. The government has tried to solve the problem with harsher sentences to perpetrators.
As I was reading this, it occured to me why Muslims do not believe in a crucified Jesus Christ. Because that would lower him to the realm they have lowered women. It is women who die in order to restore a man's 'honor'. Certainly, stoning a woman to death for the sin of adultery at the time of Jesus would be something like an honor killing. Jesus dying for the sins of men, well, that is too much. It seems that men don't have to worry so much about their own sins, as the sins of their sisters, daughters, wives and mothers.

I guess the label pays off for a Jordanian Muslim because he'll get a maximum of 6 months in the can, and then get welcomed home as a hero. It may not pay off so well for a Muslim in the U.S.
So many impromptu festivals in Jordan nowadays; the feasting, the joyous ululations of restored honor, the satisfied smiles of flea-bearded imams as they prepare the Friday khutba in ink the color of blood.

Yet another story for a bulging electronic file that I have compiled, entitled 'Islam's War on Women'. When one puts all the stories together, from all parts of the Islamosphere, and from out of Mohammedan colonies in the non-Muslim world, the total picture is mind-bogglingly awful.

Compare and contrast the mahometan "honor" with the story of the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1, "Now Joseph being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example was minded to put her away privily"
This means that instead of honor killing her, he had decided to secretly divorce her, so she would not be put to shame or death as the law of the day allowed.
Here is something about love that is overlooked, if you love someone, even if they were to betray that love, you might feel some anger, but it is not a reflection on you when someone else does something untoward.
When I was younger and had a girlfriend who I thought highly of, but she cared little for me, I became angry, and had to tell her to leave since jealousy is a green eyed monster and I was having bad thoughts.
My dad and grandfather both gave me good advice, though at the time my heart was broken, they told me that there was more than one fish in the sea.
I think that if one had to choose a culture where people did not care what people did, or one where things were so strict that if you did not murder a female family member who had people gossipping about, I think that it would be a poor choice, the one has no concept of right and wrong, the other is so strict that mercy and love are not seen as virtues.
Jesus forgave the woman taken in adultery, but admonished her to sin no more, if every one that stole had a hand amputated there would probably be less theft, but there also would be a lot less exthieves who work and give charity to others.
But when it comes to a permissive society it seems not an improvement over a sharia based society.

Women cannot even leave the home(for it is not really "theirs") without approval and if approved it must be with a male "escort" to "protect" the family honor, not her's! Just proves once again, and from where ever islam has stained the land that women have virtually no value or rights in an islamic society ruled by sharia law. This cutthroat barbarian will get his hand slapped at best,and he will be free to go back to his normal life, if one can call living under islam a normal life.
If they leave home, they will leave Islam.
