Nicky Reilly, 22, who uses the Muslim name Mohamed Abdulaziz Rashid Saeed-Alim, pleaded guilty to launching the failed attack on a busy family restaurant at the Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter in May this year.Had he only taken Hamas' "Jihad 101" online course, this would have never happened.Reilly researched how to make a bomb, acquired the components and made three devices using caustic soda, paraffin and aluminium foil, along with nails, which he had put in glass soft drink bottles.
But when he attempted to assemble one of the soft drink bottle bombs in the lavatory cubicle of the restaurant it exploded in his hands.
Reilly appeared at the Old Bailey via a video link and pleaded guilty to attempted murder at the Giraffe restaurant.He also admitted engaging in preparation for terrorism in that he researched targets and how to make bombs and prepared three of them in the restaurant.
Two charges under the Explosives Act were not put to him after Stuart Baker, prosecuting, told the court that they were alternatives to the more serious charges.
At 10.20am on May 22 Reilly boarded a double-decker Stagecoach bus at Bretonside bus station in his home town of Plymouth, arriving in Exeter shortly after 12 noon.
He took the assembled bombs to the lavatories of the Giraffe restaurant at the Princesshay shopping centre and at around 12.50pm tried to set them off in the main dining area.
He was injured in the attack, in which one device partially detonated, and spent four days in hospital.
When police searched the flat he shared with his mother and 10-year-old brother, they found a typed note which suggested he had planned a suicide attack.
Reilly, of King Street, Plymouth, was arrested when he staggered outside after suffering serious facial injuries in the blast on May 22.
Gosh, one wonders how long before things start going BOOM! 'round here in the US.

HA-HA! Oh, that's such justice! Except that he didn't explode himself - only himself - now, that would have been so well-deserved. Dang! Maybe next time.

I kind of admire this wannabe jihadi. First he tries to kill himself, then he tries to carry out his martyrdom mission. I don't think any other terrorist has done this. His faith in Allah must be strong.
Think about it, future terrorists! If you kill yourself and then kill those dimwitted kufirs, think of the fame that you will gain for yourself and Islam. The infidels will be unable to deny the truth of Islam!
Remember, jihadis - kill yourself FIRST and THEN carry out the martyrdom mission! Seventy two virgins await you!

Clearly a misunderstander of Islam.
As a convert, he doesn't understand how Islam views all life as precious and how it expressly forbids suicide.
It blew up in his hands and all he has are facial injuries? They're a badge of honor. Justice would have meant he could never use his hands again.
Islam seems to have this effect on a lot of converts.
I think it has to do with Shahada and surrender.
There is something in that, that causes an interruption in critical thinking and conscience.
For those religiously inclined, it could be a possession by a malevolent spirit/demon, that we know as Allah. Someone who already has disturbance in his mental aura would be especially vulnerable.
Shahada is a magical initiation of sorts, without the protections that real magicians use to protect themselves. There is a reason for the white circle on the floor.
Invoking demons is not a wise thing to do no matter who you are....You can see the results...
Just remember this obvious fact.
1) You have a depressed, self-pitying wuss of a Muslim young man full of sullenness and envy and hormones.
2) Some humiliation or failure pushes him over the brink He becomes suicidal.
3) Think of the immense and alluring advantages of being a 'martyr' over ordinarily 'offing' himself. Glory on earth, endless sex in paradise.
It is astonishing there are more of them.
Of course these solo jihadists will always be labeled 'mentally ill', suicidal and they are. But they are Muslim and suicidal which is like mixing lye and bleach in a toilet bowl.

In one package, you get a Total Regulation of Your Life (just add Qur'an and Sunnah, and yours not to reason why for the rest of your life), and you get a justification for your own alienation from "The System" and even get to justify your own depredations and depravities, now interpreted as being justified acts of war against o'erweening Infidels, and the forces of order in the Infidel nation-state.
That's the matter with One-Eyed Riley, as an old poet puts it, or in this case -- let's be scrupulously fair, being cognizant of Accuracy in Media and also the need to spell last names correctly -- it's what's the matter with the (Almost) One-Eyed Reilly, and all the other one-eyed rileys or reillys or john-walker-lindhs or david-hickses, those in posse and those in esse, wandering hopelessly, helplessly, aggrieved and confused, among us.
Where are the converts to Christianity who are doing this?
Where are the converts to Christianity that are building bombs, and trying to blow up families?
Where are the LOUD CONDEMNATIONS from Islamist groups in the west assuring us this is NOT what converts should do?

Unfortunately critics of Islam are almost always defamed. The MSA on my campus is hosting the Obsession movie and after they will open it up for discussion. I can't wait to here the all the "propaganda against Islam" thats going to be talked about.
However I'm going prepared and have a whole list of question that they won't expect and won't be able to answer without criticising their own religion.
Important to remember that this guy apparently has a mental age of ten.
Then again, nobody in their right mind would convert to Islam.
Muselman, I blog on a Catholic forum and there is a section where the muslims are invited. Well, I have had a question out there for them - if the Bible was corrupted/rewritten like mohammed asserted, then please provide the proof other than the koran and hadiths because those are words and deeds from an illiterate pagan. I state further that there must be an original somewhere that is available, so they should be able to also proved what Chapters/passages were corrupted.
Well, you can guess - I have had that question out there and keep posing it whenever they start their rants about the Bible.
So, good luck if you think you will get any answers - they are masters at ignoring, deflecting, bringing up all the past sins of others, denying, and... bashing. Now make sure to thank them if they call you an islamophobe, or hateful!
It is so fun (/sarc) to blog with muslims - yeah, I have been called every name that they can think of, and bashed, in ways that they are not kicked out (some have been kicked out due to them openly telling us that they want us to say the nasty sentence that proclaims their pagan moon god as god and the illiterate, megalomaniac, epileptic, narcissistic, paranoia mohammed, who didn't get enough attention from his mommy, as prophet).

wonder what sentence he will have? i'm for death penalty, but the british wouldn't of that. i have my belief and they have got their beliefs. and i am proud to know that they held on to those beliefs as their world crumples around them...
His mother was on the 6.00pm BBC news tonight and said he had always had been a loner and had “learning difficulties” PC speak for backward. She sounded quite reasonable and the BBC line was that he acted alone with encouragement and advice over the internet from two people outside the UK. He cannot have been too dumb to be able to build a bomb.
Where the plan went wrong was having primed it in the toilets the lock on the toilet door jammed and he could not get out before it went off. Otherwise it would have worked.
theygottago...I'm not for the death penalty for several reasons, one of which it is, it's too good for most criminals. The easy way out. I would rather return to yesteryear when criminals spent the day breaking up big rocks, or digging useless hole and refilling them. It would seem to me, that if we really want justice, we must keep the offender alive. Becoming an expert, life long rock breaker is a small claim to fame, and a tough life style. Gives em plenty of time to think how they got into this mess, while keeping them off the streets and out of trouble...
