Russia: Jihad against slot machines

Morality: gambling? No way! Armed kidnapping? Fine.

"Gunmen kidnap up to 15 in Russia's Ingushetia," from Reuters, October 24 (thanks to James):

NAZRAN, Russia (Reuters) - Armed men drove into Russia's Ingushetia region and abducted up to 15 people including policemen from a checkpoint and a slot machine parlour, police and witnesses said on Friday.

Witnesses said the gunmen, dressed in camouflage, entered Ingushetia from neighbouring Chechnya late on Thursday and presented themselves as police officers. Chechen authorities said they had nothing to do with the raid.

Islamist groups fighting an insurgency in Ingushetia against Moscow's rule frequently target gambling halls and shops selling alcohol, saying they contradict Islam....

And then they invaded a bookstore, and seized every copy they could find of Dostoyevsky's "The Gambler" and Pushkin's "Tales of Belkin" with its insidious tale that hinges on a card-game, "The Queen of Spades."

Oops on the link. It leads to a story entitled:

Man beheads woman, parades with head in Bangladesh.

These actions prove that islamists know how to kill a party. islamist are a miserable bunch of people.

I just heard about this one on Limbaugh.. "Dubai Radio World"

http://radio.about.com/b/2008/10/23/dubai-dj-fired-for-impersonating-god-in-skit.htm

Drive-time radio host fired "for impersonating God". Soon we'll have the "fairness" doctrine outlawing making fun of Obama..

abducted up to 15 people including policemen from a checkpoint and a slot machine parlour...

Great idea, gets em coming and going. Put some quarters/dollars, in the machine while you get checked. Just like the Las Vegas airport...Except that playing is mandatory in Russia...

You think they treat gambling machines roughly? Just see what happens to Infidel juke boxes with its twice-cursed -- because it is by Infidels, and because it is music -- offerings.

Just listen to the whisperings of Shaytan in this song:

And Russia is flexing it's muscles at the west? Maybe Russia should realise that it IS the west as far as the Islamists are concerned.

Beslan anyone?

Sorry everyone, double post.

Yep undaunted - I clicked on the Reuters link and got the same story I didn't really want to hear...

However: thanks to my own national news online, I can provide a report that appears to include reference to the same story - but, thanks to dear AFP's filters, purged of any reference to the Muslim jihadists' sharia motivations.

Read the story and underline all the euphemisms: 'volatile' 'restive' 'high-risk'. I do like 'high-risk' as an epithet for a jihad-wracked Muslim-majority region. I guess it is that, for any Infidel or insufficiently-Islamic Muslim...

Mass kidnapping as wave of attacks hits southern Russia
Posted 6 hours 28 minutes ago

'More than 10 people have been kidnapped in the volatile province of Ingushetia in southern Russia, a local official said, as guerrilla attacks by rebels in the region intensify.

"Ten to 15 people were kidnapped last night in a gambling arcade by armed men in masks. They were driven away in their own cars," a local government spokesman told reporters,
without giving further details about the incident.

'Earlier RIA Novosti news agency quoted a local Interior Ministry official as saying that the kidnapping happened in the town of Ordzhonikidzevskaya and that four police officers were among those taken.

'In other apparently unrelated attacks across Russia's restive North Caucasus region, a soldier and the wife of a local official were killed while at least 14 Russian officers were injured, Russian news agencies reported Friday (local time).

'Valentina Miroshnichenko, wife of the deputy mayor of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, was gunned down in the street by unidentified attackers in a Lada car and "died on her way to hospital," an Interior Ministry official said, Interfax reported.

'The soldier died when the military vehicle he was riding in was hit Thursday by a roadside bomb in Chechnya, which has been ravaged by wars between Russian forces and separatist rebels since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

"A soldier died from his injuries. Two have been hospitalised," an Interior Ministry official was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

'Eight police officers were injured in other attacks in Chechnya, including one in which a police vehicle came under grenade fire, Interfax reported.'

'Human rights groups say violence by Islamist fighters and separatist rebels in this mostly Muslim part of southern Russia has reached unprecedented levels since the end of major combat operations in Chechnya several years ago.

'In Dagestan, another high-risk Russian province next to Chechnya, four police officers were injured by a bomb blast on Thursday in the city of Khasavyurt, RIA Novosti news agency reported, quoting local police."

END STORY. Note - I just checked one of my reference books and it tells me that Dagestan is 94% Muslim. I couldn't find a percentage for Ingushetia. I think the only Caucasus people-group listed as being majority (nominal) Christian, are the Ossetians - Beslan was in an Ossetian area and the hostages (the teachers, parents, children) were either secular or Christian.

DaveMate,
Thanks for the double post. You said it for me.

My first reaction on seeing the story was: and why should I care, given Russia's own attitude toward the West? Putin wouldn't care if the West went up in flames as long as his own little fiefdom was secure.

InfidelK9

thanks for providing the correct Reuters link for us all.

I clicked on it and read the rest.

Toward the end I encountered a paragraph that sounded eerily familiar

"Human rights groups say widespread poverty and heavy-handed security operations push many young men to join the insurgents."

Oh yeah? Where have we heard those 2 canards before? - 1. 'poverty causes jihad terror' and 2. 'if you try to stop jihad and enforce the law, it makes young Muslims turn into jihadists'...

So: paying jizya and NOT trying to do anything to stop, for example, drive-by shootings of mayor's wives (as described in the report I linked) and drive-by shootings and arson attempts on slot machine arcades, will make the jihad go away?

I wonder why I am wondering whether the owner of the gambling hall was being leaned on for payola by the Muslim mobsters? After all, we know that in France at least one jihadist was raising funds for jihad by extorting money from prostitutes.

In Tim Priest's account of the rise of jihad - he called it 'Middle Eastern Crime' - in Sydney after the Lebanese Muslim population attained critical mass, he describes the Muslim gangs extorting 'protection money' from nightclubs, by threats of extreme violence.

I do not take this lightly as some of the posters above, as the odds are very high that the victims will be murdered

Not much is reported about the brutal jihad that is going on here.

Here is another related incident from a few days ago

Ambush in Ingushetia: 50 infidels eliminated

Conflicting reports about the fierce clashes which occurred in the area of settlements of Galashki, Muzhichi, Alhasty, and Surhohi were coming during the whole day of Saturday from the Province of Ghalghaycho (Ingushetia).

Kavkaz Center's source reported that approximately at 9:50 local time the Mujahideen attacked a military convoy of Russian infidels, which consisted of BTR armored vehicles and URAL military trucks, in vicinity of the village of Galashki.

In the course of nearly an hour-long battle Mujahideen managed to destroy more than 50 Russian infidels and several pieces of military equipment, including BTRs and URALs.

Sources from among the anti-Zyazikov's opposition referring to the local correspondent reported in their turn that Russian infidels lost up to 50 invaders, 3 BTR armored personnel carriers, 2 URAL military trucks and 2 UAZ army jeeps in the ambush.

According to these sources, at least 1 URAL truck has been destroyed together with all the Russian invaders on board.

In the evening Kavkaz Center's source reported that among the infidels eliminated near Galashki at least 30 belonged to a gang called "Paratrooper-assault squad" members of which have arrived to Ingushetia from the Leningrad Region of Russia.

Sources inside the anti-Zyazikov's opposition have also confirmed that dozens of infidels were eliminated in Galashki during the battle. It is said that an informant from the local puppet "Ministry of Internal Affairs" shared this information.

Meanwhile, approximately at 10 AM local time, another group of the Mujahideen attacked russian military convoy on the road of Alhasty-Surkhokhi.

It has been reported later by invaders themselves. The occupational command initially claimed that only 2 infidels were killed and 2 others seriously wounded as a result of this attack. Yet in the afternoon infidels stated that 2 were killed while 10 others were wounded and noted that the battle was still going on. Towards the evening it was announced that fighting has stopped and that the Mujahideen have pulled back into the forests close by and also that an attempt of invaders to locate their current positions has failed.

Some details of this operation have been made public. It is said that while the fighting at Alhasty was going on russians sent another convoy on a rescue mission but the Mujahideen have ambushed it and prevented them from reaching the place of the battle.

Sources inside local opposition reported about 3 bodies and 1 badly injured brought to the hospital. In the evening of Saturday two more bodies of infidels were brought there.

Losses of occupational troops might prove to be much bigger. This is indirectly confirmed by the local puppet sources.

They admit the fact that grenade launchers and machine guns were used by the Mujahideen to carry out the ambush. It was stated by the local puppets that accurate data on the number of eliminated infidels is not known to them.

And BTW I dont think the people in this region can afford the luxury of having books by Dostoyevsky Pushkin stocked in their book stores

"Islamist groups ... target gambling halls and shops selling alcohol, saying they contradict Islam...."

Gambeling and alcohol might contradict Islam but there are clearly no such qualms about brutalizing and killing people.

If there can be failed states then there can also be failed religions.

InfidelK9,
What has Russia done to win friends and influence people? Was the invasion of Georgia really worth it? It might have made Russia feel good for a while but how much harm was done to Russia's relations with other countries? Russia is not incapable of dealing with its own terrorism problem, so let them.
It's not so much that we take it lightly but that there is no reason to care.

I think the Russians know what they are up against. Google hill 776 for the full details.

Battle of Hill 776 29 February – 1 March 2000 85 Russian paratroopers ~2,000 Chechen mujahideen. Odds: 1:24 During one of the last major battles of the Second Chechen War, a vastly outnumbered company of Russian airborne troops stood and fought against an assault by Chechen rebels on Hill 776 near Ulus-Kert in the Chechen Republic. All but one of the 85 Russians died - 400 rebels were killed.

An American officer concluded, "Bad unit leadership caused the disaster but Russian blood and Russian valour transformed it into a victory."

I imagine the Russians on hill 776 knew what awaited them on surrendering to the Chechen gentlemen and chose the more prudent path. Chechens are the typical hill bandit parasites that make perfect Mohammedans. Cull that herd without an eco survey anytime.

It's important to point this out when idiots start talking about Muslim "morality" or "family values".

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of gambling and heavy drinking, myself--but the idea that abducting these innocent people, terrorising them, and then holding them for ransom--or worse--killing them--is any sort of "moral" response is completely grotesque.

It is important that Infidels--especially Westerners--assert their own values. All too often, in the face of claims of Muslim "morality", Infidels just seem vaguely embarrassed, as though they stand for nothing except some general sense of license.

This is Mohammed's "morality"--kidnapping the Infidels, and holding them for ransom or killing them. They are still following the "perfect man".

Most Ingush people are Muslims of Shafii school.

What has Russia done to win friends and influence people?

Are you forgetting KOSOVO, and the bombing of Serbia

PMK It's not so much that we take it lightly but that there is no reason to care.

My concern is te fate of the people who have been kidnapped,, and that there is every reason to care.

In Britain we have a chain of Bingo halls called Mecca. Mecca Bingo I think was established in the early 1960s.

I am opening a book on when the first attack will come.

My concern is te fate of the people who have been kidnapped,, and that there is every reason to care.

Point taken.

I had a wisecrack of my own, but InfidelK9, you're right. It's not funny. If it were Las Vegas, or on an Indian reservation that allowed gambling, I'd be sickened.

I will say, in complete sobriety, that the more I read about the ravages and outrages by non-people to their "host" countries, the more isolationist I become.

On another thread, another poster suggested that, when the next crisis hits a Mohammedan land that we, the US, sit on our hands, and let the Mohammmedans and the rest of the world deal with it.

I'm fed up enough to suggest that, in 2008, the US does nothing for anyone. For a whole year.

It would be a very long year, for some.

The Russians are not going to put up with the jihadists . They will deal with them like they are used to do . in silence....
and I am sure that we are not going to see more attacks like this past one in a near future.
If caught, the terrorists will not stay in jail for ever and cost the taxpayers a fortune. They will not see their sentence reduced to the minimum..

They will be dealt with in a more efficient manner and whoever is willing to do another attack , is going to think twice. and look for another country to spread Islam..... a country where the risk of retaliation is less....Get the picture?
