Saudi-funded textbooks being used in America's K-12 classrooms

Teaching, among other things, that Jesus was a "Palestinian," the state of Israel never existed, and that the Muslims discovered America before Columbus. At this rate, perhaps even Saudi grade-school textbooks -- complete with jihadi and dhimmi declarations -- will come to instruct American school-children. Go to CBN link for complete video report.

"Public Schools Teach the ABCs of Islam," by Erick Stakelbeck for CBN News, October 9:

CBNNews.com - Several recent studies have shown that American students are alarmingly ignorant about U.S. history and world events.

Experts have contributed the problem to everything from failing schools to substandard teachers.

But what about content?

For instance, did you know that Muslims discovered America? Or that Jerusalem is an Arab city? That's just some of the "history" that students in America's K-12 classrooms have been taught in recent years--with the help of taxpayer money.

A new report by the non-profit Institute for Jewish and Community Research finds that American high school and elementary textbooks contain countless inaccuracies about Christianity, Judaism, Israel and the Middle East.

The Institute examined 28 of the most widely-used history, geography and social studies textbooks in America. It found at least 500 errors.

One book ignored the Jewish roots of Christianity, saying the faith was founded by a "young Palestinian" named Jesus.

Another stated as fact that the Koran was revealed to Mohammed from God.

Yet another said ancient Jewish civilization contributed "very little" to to the arts and sciences.

Textbooks like these are used by millions of schoolchildren in all 50 states.[...]

Harvard is one of 18 universities that receives government funding under Title VI of the Higher Education Act of 1965. To qualify for that funding, the universities are required to conduct outreach to K-12 teachers, helping them to shape lessons for schoolchildren. Elementary and secondary teachers have taken full advantage of the arrangement: after all, they believe they're getting expert insight on Islam and the Middle East from distinguished university scholars.

"You have a lot of politically naive teachers--well intentioned teachers who do want their students to learn more about Islamic history," says Stotsky. "It has not been well covered in most history courses they've ever taken, so they do genuinely want to learn more for themselves and teach their students more."

In some cases they may be getting more than they bargained for: the Saudi government has donated millions of dollars to Middle East Centers at universities that receive Title VI funding.

The Harvard Middle Eastern Studies Center--whose recommendations to the Massachusetts Board originally drew Stosky's concern--is one of them. As CBN News reported earlier this year, the Harvard Center received a $20 million donation from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in 2005. Georgetown University--another title VI recipient--also received $ 20 million from the Prince that same year.

It's through these Title VI university centers--all of them government-sanctioned and taxpayer supported--that Saudi-funded materials find their way into K-12 classrooms.

"Saudi donations to American universities should be seen in a much larger picture of Saudi promotion of a Saudi point of view," said Daniel Pipes, Director of the Middle East Forum in Philadelphia. "Whether it be Islamic or political, the Saudis have a point of view. And they have been very clever and very generous over the decades to promote that point of view."

Read (or view) it all.

Stealth jihad alive and well. Start with young impressionable minds and brain wash them into believing the false achievements of Islam and Mohammedans. The genocidal mandate of Islam is being whitewashed and the mass murder of infidels being swept under the rug.

Now, this is getting a bang for Saudi Petro-dollar, in POTUS/Commander's pocket.

None of this cr*p could find its way into American classrooms without the consent of the national education association, and the willingness of teachers to teach it to students. The Saudis aren't the only ones to blame.

"Jesus was a "Palestinian,""

It's not just textbooks, either. It has become an assertion in of much recent fiction, as well. Anything that alludes to Jesus obliquely, or mentions him outright is preceded or followed by "Palestine" or "Palestinian".

So, adults are being brainwashed, too.

Funny. When I was growing up, Jesus was a Jew. His mother and father were Jews. His brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins were Jews.

Even if many of these were half relatives, they were still Jews. Deal with it, "Palestine".

It's shocking, truly shocking.

Suggested information package for high school libraries, whether they are state schools or private schools:

1. Mr Spencer's 'Truth about Muhammad' and 'Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades'. Both would make excellent reference books for history teachers and the 'PIG' would be readily understood by any talented and reasonably literate senior student.

2. Bat Yeor - 'The Dhimmi' and 'The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam'.

I know that when I was in year 11 and 12 (final year high school) I was reading books no less challenging than 'The Dhimmi', in terms of their vocabulary and level of discourse. I didn't necessarily understand everything, but I persevered. There must still be *some* students out there, like that - smart, literate, curious, and prepared to pursue a difficult book all the way through.

3. Andrew Bostom - 'The Legacy of Jihad' and 'The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism'.

Bostom's books are encyclopedic, bringing together classic works of scholarship and key historic sources (both Islamic and non-islamic). They would be more of a resource for teachers, than something to be picked up and casually read by any but the most intelligent and literate students.

Christian and Jewish schools could also acquire Mark Durie's 'Revelation? Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God?'.

Even non-religious schools might find Durie's book useful in that it sets out, side by side, objectively and clearly, the ways in which the core beliefs of Christianity contrast with those of Islam. There is a final chapter that provides tips for Christians who want to explain their faith to Muslims - but non-Christians are free to ignore that part, and it makes no difference to Durie's central argument.

Anyone who has read and understood Durie's book - no matter what religious background, or none, the reader comes from - should then be quite unfoolable by specious Muslim claims of theological kinship with Christians or with Jews.

Other books worth donating to high school libraries: the K S Lal books about Islam and India; V S Naipaul, 'India: A Wounded Civilisation', 'Among the Believers: an Islamic Journey', and 'Beyond Belief: Among the Converted Peoples'; and Ayaan Hirsi Ali's two books, 'Infidel' and 'The Caged Virgin'.

'Infidel' is particularly good as it is well written and very engaging. Teenage girls would be fascinated by Ayaan's account of her schooldays.

Appreciate the heads up Raymond, one more item added to tomorrow's 'to do' list, review history textbooks used at our school.

Facts...facts...we don't need no stinking facts! Its all about what distortions will support the new agenda. Most parents are too busy avoiding responsibility and most teachers are too indoctrinated by liberal dogma to have a clue about history unless it pertains to the crimes committed by conservatives.

All hail the Messiah

Now this can't be a figment of my imagination: for years the liberals raised hell with schools and teachers who dared to barely mention the name "G-d" or the Bible, or anything else pertaining to Christianity or Judaism. Now Islam is promoted in schools nationwide and there is silence not only from the libs, but from priests, pastors, and rabbis. If our Constitution forbids the teaching of any religion in public schools, why is Islam an exception? Not only are they teaching Islam--sugarcoated, of course, with none of the brutal realities--but they are forcing teachers to make kids dress in Muzzie drag, kneel on prayer rags, uh, rugs, say prayers--and trying to push through laws that will prevent any parents from protesting, in the guise of "hate speech". ALL UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Are we in the early stages of anarchy?

All this nonsense happened under a Republican administration that was supposed to be fighting Jihadists.

Why have the Bush people allowed this to go on?

Is it because he was in bed with the Saudis?

The sickening report makes clear how indaquate a leader Bush has been.

I am pro McCain, btw. Still I am also pessimistic about our ability to fight back in any meaningful way.

Here is another book to enligthen students on Islamic history

Islamic Imperialism by Efraim Karsh

The book covers Islamic history from the days of the self-appointed prophet to today's bin Laden.

Muslims discovered America? Islam did not discover the toilette bowl until the 20th century - give me a break.

I'll tell you one thing I am really happy that it was Mo"HAM"mad who invented the internet back in the day as how would we find out this information otherwise?

Now I'm not one of those who believe in all this "Illuminati" business but isn't one of their aims for a one world religion so that we are easier to control?

Well, it seems that someone somewhere has decided to allow the Islamization of the West against the wills of it's citizens.

It really is about time for us to start striking back - enough of all the internet banter on "oh will it ever end?" - no, it won't end unless we have people who are radical enough to actually DO SOMETHING about the problem.

The Muslims really are laughing at us as they all know what's going on since 9.11. They realise that the towers was a decleration of war and have been setting their troops into place ready for play since then - it's a damn shame that our governments are letting them.

Notice how 99% of all the immigrants coming from the Middle-East are males in the 18-30 year old range? They really are Soldiers of Allah who are coming to us and getting as many of our women pregnant and forcing them to convert as possible. Hey, if our women are breeding with THEM they ain't breeding with us. That's the plan.
They take over our Churches. Yup, it's not just one more Mosque it's one less Church.

And that's how it begins.

War isn't coming.

It's already here.

Muslims discovered America before Columbus, my foot!
Muslims have this habit of shameless plagiarism and then claiming an act/work/idea as their own. For example, Muslims claim to have invented the decimal system of counting. Their reason for this absurd claim? Because, in the west, the numerals are often called Arabic numerals. In fact, neither the decimal system nor the numerals are Arabic at all. As any serious student of mathematical history would know, the decimal system originated with the Hindu mathematicians around 600 AD. The Arab traders learnt it from Hindus and passed it on as their own when they vanquished parts of Europe. That is how the numerals came to be known as Arabic numerals in Europe. In fact, what Muslims ought to be known for are jihad, destruction of cultures and civilizations, arts, freedom and so on. How many nobel prize winners can Islam claim? In the last count, my Jewish brothers had produced 160. For a people whose "holy" book says the sun dips into a dirty pond everyday, what else can we expect?

Revisionist History gone mad.

My 15 year old knows the Questions are wrong and the Answers are not right. He feels lonely in class and does not like the Game "Whack a Mole".

Good thing he is a crack shot.

Since the time of daddy Bush, entire Bush family is in bed with Al-Sauds. Bush kept telling America 'Saudis are "our friends"', as in Bush family friends. Gullible Americans assumed Saudis are "American friends".
Coming back to Bush-Saud relationship, just ask Mr. Google.

This should stop. People need to call their local schools and see if they are using these fallacious texts.

We are not that desparate for money. Thanks, but no thanks, Saudi Arabia.
