More confirmation of what everyone should know by now about the duplicity of our Friend and Ally Pakistan comes today from Spain: "Spanish intelligence document says Pakistan 'helped arm Taliban,'" by Fiona Govan in the Telegraph, October 1 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
A leaked Spanish intelligence document alleges that Pakistan's spy agency was helping arm Taliban insurgents against the Afghan government in 2005.It also claims that the Pakistan secret services may have provided training and intelligence to the Taliban in specialist camps in Pakistan....
"The plan is that the TBs (Taliban) use these RCIEDs (remote control IEDs) to assassinate high-ranking officials," the August 2005 report warns.
The report noted the "possible existence of advanced training camps used by Taliban in Pakistan where they receive training, support and intelligence from the Pakistani secret services and where they are developing new explosives".
Spanish authorities would not comment on the leaked document but Pakistani army spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas dismissed the Spanish report as propaganda.
"It is baseless, unfounded and part of a malicious, well-orchestrated propaganda campaign to malign the ISI," he said.
Of course, Abbas! It's all just "Islamophobia"!

I think clearly at this point in Pakistan it is only a matter of time before the armed forces splinter, then it is only a matter of time before radical elements within the Pakistani military aquire nuclear weapons.

I've long ago come to the conclusion that the Indian sub-continent is the laboratory of radical Islam. That's where they have tried out various formulations for Jihad. The research work in this laboratory has been going on for last century or more.
All (or almost all) the tactics and strategies that the West is suddenly confronted with in the last two decades were formulated here. The West and the rest of the Infidel world would do well to study the trends in the sub-continent.
Research takes years. But once a successful formula is evolved, things happen quite rapidly.
What next for the West? Mini-pakistans, of course. The (successful) road map is there before you.
President Bush was genius. He knew the center war on terror is not Afghanistan or Iraq; it is where we Americans want it to be. We would be fighting the same mobile Jihadist whether we are in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq or Syria. And Bush chose Iraq. Sadam Hussein Obama made that choice easier.
Fighting the jihadists in Afghanistan implies fighting two nations, Afghanistan and Pakistan simultaneously. Where as in Iraq you can turn the Iraqi dogs against the Muslim terrorists.
Make no mistake these are the same Jihadists that fought against Russia in Afghanistan, against Serbia in Kosovo and now they are fighting against the coalition and are divided between Iraq and Afghanistan with more of them now shifting from Iraq into Afghanistan after being defeated in Iraq.
Bush was paying billions of dollars to Pakistan in a hope to turn them against the Taliban. Unfortunately, this policy has failed and should be abandoned. The latest revelations suggest that Taliban and Pakistan are one and the same. Unless we are ready and willing to declare war on Pakistan (Taliban) we must not kid ourselves. Either we should fight Pakistan or get out of Afghanistan altogether and let them continue rotting, bombing and killing one another. It is good to see Muslim terrorists killing Muslim terrorists.
More and more frequently we are witnessing Afghani solders who were fighting along side with the coalition turn their fire on our solders and shoot them from behind - this is not a cowardice betrayal, it is revealing who they really are after concealing their allegiance to Taliban while pretending to be Afghani solders on the coalition side. Cowardice or otherwise this is the Islamic way of fighting with no honor. Honor and Islam are as compatible as freedom and Islam.
The hell with all Muslim terrorists, we should get out of Iraq and Pakistan/Afghanistan and let the terrorists kill each other. And while they are fighting each another we must get out of the business of supporting all sides equally. We support our enemies and our fake friends equally. We have put a new meaning to equal opportunity employer, provider and supporter.
