Barcelona, 16 Oct. (AKI) - Spanish police have arrested at least 18 terror suspects of Moroccan origin with alleged links to Al-Qaeda in the provinces of Catalonia, Andalucia and Madrid on Thursday, reported Spanish media.
The suspects helped some of the suspects in the deadly bombings of Madrid commuters in March 2004 to escape and were allegedly in charge of recruiting militants and financing Islamist activities, prosecutors allege.
The raids were carried out in the northeastern town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet where eight suspects were nabbed. The other arrests took place in the towns of Badalona near Barcelona, Cerdanyola del Valles and Villanova i la Geltru among others.
The raids were ordered by top Spanish prosecutor Baltasar Garzon.
The "tiny minority of extremists" are everywhere, it seems. They may indeed be a minority, but "tiny?" No.

I used to live in Spain and there's an immigration problem that has only gotten worse under Zapatero. A few years back he granted amnesty to some 800,000 illegal immigrants. Some people say Spain is the "Gateway to Europe" b/c its the southern most tip of Europe that opens right up to Africa. With a growing population of radical islamists in Africa, Spain is going to have to crack down on illegal immigrants more harshly simply b/c you cant tell the difference between a good muslim and bad muslim.
A few weeks before the Madrid Bombings my wife went on a school trip to Spain. While there they took a ferry over to Morocco, she said it was as easy as taking a ferry to Okracoke Island.
