Complete with "Imam briefing packs." More on this story. "Drive to sell halal car insurance to British Muslims," by Jeremy Grant for the Financial Times, October 20:
In the past few months, residents in some parts of London, Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff in the UK will have noticed a glossy leaflet dropping through the letter box. It looks like any other promotional literature, except for the slogan on the front: "Halal car insurance that's right for your faith."Appeals to a consumer's religious beliefs are unusual in a sales pitch in the UK and probably unheard of in its car insurance industry. But Principle Insurance Holdings believes the time has come for car insurance aimed at Britain's 2m Muslims.
Bradley Brandon-Cross, a former GE Capital executive - and non-Muslim - who was recruited to Principle as chief executive, says Islamic finance is growing globally. The UK government has encouraged its use in Britain and many Muslims living in poorer regions of the country have for too long had fewer insurance choices than consumers in better-off areas.
"For a long time, Muslims have not been able to buy insurance products compliant with their beliefs so they have had to make do with products that are not empathetic with those beliefs," he says.
In July, Principle became the first shariah- compliant insurance provider in the UK with the launch of products under the Salaam brand - taking its cue from the Arabic word for peace.
Salaam Insurance is a trading name owned by Principle, which has 54 shareholders - mostly from the Gulf region.[...]
Islamic consumer finance is relatively new to Britain. But, partly because of a push by the UK Treasury , services for Muslim consumers have sprung up, including the establishment of the Islamic Bank of Britain, a retail bank, in 2003. However, the sector has grown slowly. Mr Brandon-Cross says research before the launch showed many British Muslims understood the concept of halal but their knowledge of Islamic finance was "limited".
In response, Salaam has embarked on some creative initiatives. To reach as many of the estimated 600,000 Muslim car owners in Britain as possible, it has undertaken extensive "outreach" to religious leaders. "Imam briefing packs" are being sent to religious leaders to provide background information about the religious aspects of Salaam's car insurance product in case they are asked about it.[...]
One in five quote inquiries on the Salaam phone line - where sales agents speak Arabic, Urdu, Gujurati and Bengali as well as English - results in a sale, the company claims. This is comparable to industry norms, it says.
Now Salaam is about to promote to non-Muslims. Mr Brandon-Cross says: "We have always believed that certain elements of the product - its focus on ethical investments, transparency and ability to get something back - would appeal beyond the Muslim community."
I elected to tear apart this article paragraph by paragraph, but in the end, the resultant headache would not be worth the effort.
So I'll summarize as such:
"My friends and cousins in the United Kingdom, you are finished."
Is that about right?
Do these halal insurers pay out settlements according to the shar'ia blood-money rankings of religion and gender?
"that post was great, it really helped with finding good car insurance comparisons, I found another good one that helped me find an incredible rate http://www.carinsuranceassistant.com/index.php?id=New+Car
they give you the best rates from lots of local providers
"
Next, they'll be proposing burial grounds for Hindus and have them facing Mecca.
This should be interesting, as I have read that insurance is un-islamic because it is an attempt to escape or reduce the judgement of allah. This is probably why it is halal for our “Asian” citizens screw the insurance companies rotten particularly for motor insurance but they make sure the kuffur pays.
Consider my limited experience,
When I worked in an “Asian” area two “Asians” were embarrassed when I arrived just as they had driven one car slowly into the wing of another.
A relative was rammed on a supermarket car park by a carload “Asians”. A slightly built woman of 60 she was immediately surrounded 4 large “Asians” telling her it was her fault as they got on their mobiles and called up 4-5 more Asians (she said 10 – maybe but she was in shock). The only help came from a group of students who saw what was going on and quietly said they would wait until they saw she could leave. It cost her a £3,000 no claim bonus although there was not much damage, but all 4 had head whip – they said.
An “Asian” girl reversed into my daughter on another supermarket car park and the girl was apologetic but two “Asian” men came running over giving advice to their sister in Urdu. My daughter did not hesitate to tell the men what she thought. Next day the girl’s brother telephoned to tell her they had 3 witnesses who would “Go into court and swear it was her fault”. Needless to say the insurance tried to stick the claim on my daughter who told them “no way” but she had to fight.
This is worth a study, have others had similar experiences? I would guess any islamic company will be orientated to collecting from kuffurs not paying out.
To get our Asian friends to buy any form of motor insurance would be a good start.
I wonder who the Glasgow Airport car bombers were insured by? I guess the premium is a little more expensive if you admit that you intend packing your vehicle with explosives in order to kill infidels.
Here are some examples of why Muslim drivers need insurance.
I don't know about other countries but here in the UK most taxi drivers in cities and large towns - apart from London black cabs - seem to be Pakistanis.
I think London is an exception because licensed black cab drivers there must study "The Knowledge" and pass an exam. Also it helps if you speak English rather than Urdu.
Islamic insurance is called Takaful (I wonder if it's from the same root as Takiyya). Seems the Gulf countries are getting into it in a big way as I know someone who was approached to head it up in Quatar.

The mandatory zakat of islamic financial companies frequently goes, of course, to fund terrorism, so any premiums you pay could be used to kill other non-Muslims.
watling
Sorry - It is possible that the black cab drivers blocked it but I defiantly saw a report in the MSM that Nulabour was going to abolish “the knowledge”.
Hmmm.
It seems that our unwanted aromatic guests are no better at driving cars than they are at piloting aircraft.
I can see why 'the knowledge' could be abolished soon, Fred - I use a sat-nav, and it knows just as much about the London streets as the average cabbie.
Silvester:
Islamic insurance is called Takaful
In Italy it's called "Takadapiss".
