In the U.S. it is a clear sign of "Islamophobia" and "bigotry" to question whether Islam and democracy are compatible. This Islamophobic, bigoted New Mexico-born imam now lives in Yemen. He has previously called upon Muslims to leave the United States. Now he says that if they stay here, they should not vote.
"Voting for the American President," by Anwar Al-Awlaki, October 31 (thanks to Axel):
The Muslim community in the US is busy with the vote and are debating who the Muslims should pick as their president. The argument presented is we are choosing between the lesser of the two evils. In reality it is more about being American and part of the system than it is about benefiting the ummah because the fact of the matter is there is no benefit in either candidate whatsoever.Democracy in an un-Islamic system and we as Muslims should have nothing to do with it. Whether one looks at the root and history of democracy or at the reality of democracy today one can realize that it is a system that is not only different than the Islamic system but is opposed to it. Can’t you see that the West in its war against Islam is offering the democratic system as an alternative to Sharia? So if the West, which is the founder of democracy, sees democracy as an opposing system to Islam why are some Muslims still insisting on participating in it and adopting it as their political religion?
Democracy is a Western system that was founded and developed in the West and today the West, not the Muslims, have full authority and right to tell the world what democracy is and how it should be practiced and implemented. We have our own system of government and likewise it is the Muslims who are going to define it and will not allow non Muslims to meddle with our religion and teach us what is right from wrong.
Muslims should seek to avoid any forms of participation in Western democracy.
The promoters of participation in American elections argue that we are choosing the least of the two evils. This principle is correct but what they are missing is that in the process of choosing the lesser of the two evils they are committing an even greater evil . The breaking down of the psychological barrier that should exist between Muslims and non-Muslims, the erosion of the aqeedah of wala and bara (loyalty to Allah and disavowal of the enemies of Allah,) and the risk of loosing one’s religion are evils that outweigh any benefit that may come out of such participation....
He has called upon the Muslims to leave America, well why have they not done so. Well it is obvious most non Muslim countries are better run, there is peace. However, in the Mohammedan mind it belongs to them as well. All kafir lands are ultimately to be brought under the rule of Allah and Sharia laws.
How I wish they'd just pack up and go live in "countries that belong to allah" (the imaginary), just as they were urged to do by one of the female Nazgul featured on "Undercover Mosque - The Return." And, once their rulers ran out of oil, they would all go back to being nothing more than goat herders; too politically and financially weak to do much harm to anyone, besides fellow believers with whom they picked fights.
But, as savsiv has pointed out, they think the whole world belongs to them. I just really hope they do run out of oil before those who inhabit Dar al-Harb can no longer hold back their hordes or ward off their attacks.
"Muslims should seek to avoid any forms of participation in Western democracy."
No argument there.
There are plenty of Muslim states that would like to have this schmuck, and the U.S. would be a lot better off without him and his ilk.
"He has previously called upon Muslims to leave the United States."
From the article.
Finally, something we can agree on. If Muslim's can't agree to abide by our laws, then, yes, they should leave.
What a dilemma for American Muslims that voted early for B. Hussein Obama.
Byline should read " America IS an unislamic system......"
Well, I am down with the ol' immam on that one.
Leave Anwar al-Anlaki alone. He's a great guy. America's loss is Yemen's gain.
"Muslims should seek to avoid any forms of participation in Western democracy."
Then move to Islamoland and leave Western democracy to those who choose to participate in it. You are "free" to go, as it will be your last taste of freedom, so enjoy it while it lasts.
Hugh, I love your wry sense of humor.
"wry sense of humor..."
-- from a posting above
I will not only pocket that praise, with thanks, but use it as the pretext to draw attention to a link to New English Review(www.newenglishreview.org) that Robert put up just today under the photograph of Oriana Fallaci at this site.
Here's a sample of that "sense of humor" that I hope retains its wryness:

For a wild colonial boy, fabricating details for such a cast of characters in an imagined England of circa 1910 was not easy.
Finally, a straight talking Muslim. Maybe he will leave and take others with him.
Alright buddy. Pack your bags and go. Nobody wants you in America with that sort of pernicious thinking.
Maybe Abdullah ("Crap" Truth) can explain this one?
Hugh, thank you for the NER link. Very well imagined. Bertie Wooster would be proud.
To quote from P.G. Wodehouse, who certainly knew a good garden party when he saw one: "To be a humorist, one must see the world out of focus."
I don't think we should crtize Anwar Al-Awlaki for his views, he's honest and truthful about the true Islam. Jihad watch should give annual awards to Muslims who tell the truth about their religion.
"American-born Imam: "Democracy in an un-Islamic system and we as Muslims should have nothing to do with it".
Great! One honest statement from a Imam. Now our Government should step in a provide some "assistance" to Muslims here in the USA. No really, we should.
Assistance as in a one way ticket to Allah land. Mandatory & non refundable. If they cannot honor our Constitution & seek to subvert it...they are a hostile occupation force who should NEVER receive citizenship status.
This Islamophobic, bigoted New Mexico-born imam now lives in Yemen. He has previously called upon Muslims to leave the United States.
You've got to admit he practices what he preaches.
But is it possible to note a soupcon of panic in what the Imam is saying? Is he worried he is losing some of his flock? His tone is far from assured.
It should be noted that the reason Anwar Al-Awlaki is now in Yemen is that he is wanted by the FBI for questioning about his role in 9/11:
"Imam from VA mosque now thought to have aided Al-Qaeda", Washington Post (2/26/08)
Mr Al-Awlaki has written a part two that is even more biting

In A Perfect World
"Islamofascism is an un-democratic system and we as freedom-lovers should have nothing to do with it."
If only.
Non illegitimi carborundum

I read your New English Review piece. Delicious. It reads rather like you're channelling Simon Winchester.
And indeed, as one who has read Winchester's 'Krakatoa' and 'The Meaning of Everything', and met some of the extraordinary real-life people therein described, I have to say that the really sobering thing about your cast of imagined characters in an English garden circa 1910, is that people very much like that really did exist and, I suspect, hidden away in the corners of the Mohammedan-beleaguered Three Kingdoms, do in fact still exist.
For those but newly come aboard - that is, who have only begun lurking or posting here at any time from early June 2008 onward - I offer a trip to the archives to revisit an article discussed here on May 18 2008.
http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/021068.php#comments
It is very instructive to compare the headline with which Mr Spencer summarised that article, with the headline of the article under discussion today.
In the comments field of that earlier article, there are a couple of mini-essays by Mr Fitzgerald that are well worth reading.
"But is it possible to note a soupcon of panic in what the Imam is saying? Is he worried he is losing some of his flock? His tone is far from assured."
Personal problems, perhaps? I understand those Yemeni fleas can really bite once they get into a beard.
"I'm stuck in Yemen, you should be too. It's paradise, and holy. Really. And if you do move here please for the love of Allah bring some ketchup and a palletload of Twinkies."
Robert needs this Anwar Al-Awlaki to make the speaking tours with him. Here's a guy who will swear up and down that everything Robert ever said is absolutely, positively, with out a doubt rock bottom true. The Muslims would be exuberant and would refuse to leave. even when it's long gone over.
The Leftist will be confused in who their screaming hate speech too.
A sane mind will need bleach in the laundry.
The Muslim migration act. All expenses paid trip to a Muslim country of their choice. The first weeks lodging in a hotel of their choice. Even 1,000 dollars to have fun with. It's one way, and only costs your passport, and the wish to never return. Ever. Totally voluntary but heavily promoted.
It could be a Foundation Too. America is a giving Nation.
It appears that Mr Al-Awlaki had a taste for the ladies of the night while in the United States

Genius...funny too...
If any Mohammadans want to deport themselves to Yemen to be close to the Prophet Al-Awlaki, I would be happy to help them pack their bags...
I just realized my post could fall under the "supporting mass deportation of Muslim citizens".
If someone declares they want to destroy the Constitution of the United States & cannot abide by our system of Government, how can they be considered a citizen of the United States? That would be a hostile foreign interest in my opinion.
Nothing to do with racism. I don't care if those Muslims are brown, black, white, yellow, red, purple, pink, green [whatever].
How about some of us American Christians go to Saudi Arabia and declare we against Sharia law & want to replace it with a biblical based republic system of Government? I wonder what our reception would be like?
I think the title should read "Democracy IS an un-Islamic system and we as Muslims should have nothing to do with it"
Agree with this Imam 100%. Please give him the authority to insist that all Muslim's are to live only in Muslim lands, and that being a citizen of a non-Muslim country is considered apostasy.
Muslim's should not be given the citizenship of any Western nation unless they apostatize. End of story.
The reality is, that sooner or later, we the people are going to have to break rules and not be nice...If we don't, It's Allahu Akbar time...
Nice to see that this muttonhead took it upon himself to leave....a shame the school system fail him, as he doesn't even know history or even USA history.
Democracy started a while ago by the Greeks. We took the best fair system they had, though many choose the desert dogmatic revelation religion(s) of the most ignorant people on the planet in the Middle East. Go figure?
At least he can admit that democracy in the West is the preferred chosen direction for freedom & free thought....which WORKS.
Though it is time to also help this lost confused soul to paradise least he breeds.
"Democracy in an un-Islamic system and we as Muslims should have nothing to do with it"
===========================================
Take one:-
ISLAM IS AN UN DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM AND WE AS
DEMOCRATS SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!
( so is orthodox Judaism, Hinduism, communism
and all the other Isms on this planet except
ATHEISM!).
No good!
-----------------------
Take two;-
ISLAM IS DANGER AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH!
That's better!
-----------------------
Any ideas for "Take tree" ?...Huh!
Some of the writers of the New English Review remind me very much of the women in the privileged parts of London that I recently lived among.
There is a great deal of delicate, witty sneering and clever deflection from the females. Beneath the posturing is abject and contemptible submission. They know who's winning, and it isn't their men, it's the Muslim males. Eventually whatever writing they manage will cease as it is prosecuted as "hate speech." They will submit without a fight. At least there's tea to dull the worry and the noise while the Muslims next door murder their daughters.
With thousands of women beaten, raped, mutilated and murdered in Britain in the name of Islam every year, how is this analysis even in question?
Count on it -- the parallel system of sharia law will not only continue in Britain, it will grow in strength and circumference, and the sceptered isle will slowly go silent.
Ingenuity, creativity, innovation, have nothing to do with islam.
How about some of us American Christians go to Saudi Arabia and declare we against Sharia law & want to replace it with a biblical based republic system of Government? I wonder what our reception would be like?

American Christians who go to Saudi Arabia to work in the oil fields can't even bring a Bible into Saudi Arabia.
"American-born Imam: "Democracy in an un-Islamic system..."
Duh!
I like the way this guy thinks. It's commendable that he walks the walk, by taking his freakshow to Yemen, where it will be appreciated.
