I still belive this is the way to go: bring them in front of a judge and then give them a taste of their own medicine.

The preventative method also works: intelligence gathering, persuasion, fighting for hearts and minds. Egypt did this in the 90s and to have some success. One slogan the Egyptian govt emblazoned everywhere read something like this

Well at last they are dead, but they should have been shot a few weeks ago, but the execution was delayed, because their lawyers where objecting to them being shot as it amounted to torture and violated their human rights.

Bali is not anything. It's true that a majority of Balinese are Hindu - mainly the descendants of those Javans and Sumatrans who refused to follow their rulers into converting to Islam, and who had a far greater pride in their Hindu heritage.

However, Bali is not an independent Hindu state, like Nepal was. It's a part of islamic Indonesia, and therefore, there is nothing that foreigners can do for Balinese Hindus without benefiting Indonesian Mohammedans, and probably Jihadis amongst them.

PMK is therefore correct - forget that 'Bali is Hindu' and boycott it. Same for all Indonesia. Unless Bali becomes a Hindu East Timor and gets recognized as independent. A lot of non-Islamic holdovers in Indonesia - Sulawesi for one - would probably like the same.

I agree that Indonesia should be cut up into smaller states. In fact many other Muslim countries are who are craetkions of British colonialists should be cut up and divided into more managebale chunks. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Somalia are all such creations and ripe for division.

But we are doing the exact opposite insisting on the `soveriegnty' and `territorial integrity' of Iraq for example. Why? We couild have a genuinley friendly Kurdish regime in the North and manageable one in the South. In Somalia we are forcing secular, pro-america Somaliland into the hands of barbaric Somalia to the South. Totally incomprhensible.

Why should I boycott Bali?

Enough evidence exists to show Indonesia is the most corrupt country in the world. In all likelihood, for every dollar you spend in / on Bali or elsewhere in the archipelago, on average less than one cent will end up in the real, decent people's pockets. The rest will be likely be grabbed and defrauded (both from people and country's tax and government systems) away by the wealthy military connected families of Indonesia (Suharto et al) and the Indonesian authorities, including Bali's / Indonesia's mafia police. It is not just the money everyone from the president down steals from people who can ill-afford it, it is the effect of robbing the country of money which should be used on health, education and true justice.

That can't be helped. Innocent people are always hurt in a war, and this is a war. We're not talking about trade. Our lives are not jizya.
Even if Suharto and the Muslim government are benefitting from Bali tourism, an argument could be made for non-Muslims to come and vacation there if the government guarantees their safety from terrorism. With the situation as it is now, you will have to keep all Muslims off Bali to have an argument for outsiders to come back.

Leon, Thats a good question.

When I first came here, Suharto was still alive, and he had the islamists under his thumb, so in places like Java, where I live, The "Javaness" in most places overode islam. Skumbags like Bashir where in exile, or slung in jail. Despite Suharto, Bali and Java and most of Indonesia was pretty cool. Suharto with the aid of the USA, Australia and Britian pretty well kept the lid on, about what was happening in East Timor, the Moluccas and Papua New Guinea.

Well I settled in with a wonderful Javanese/Madurese woman, and now live with her about 1 1/2 hours drive from where Amrozi,s family live. We have been living to-gether for more than 13 yrs. There is no question ofgoing back to the UK, as she is to Javanese and wrapped up with the older members of her family, also she is the one who cares most about their welfare. Also living in the UK would destroy her.

As for racism, the area I live, there are no "westerner", in fact it can go weeks before I see another westerner, so I do not experience any racism to towards me. In Bali there is a strong under current of racism, but it is masked by smiling faces. I can understand their racism,and it is due to the pig arrogance of many of the tourists/ex-pats, but that is another story

Before Suharto stepped down, not many women wore the Hijab, now today about 40% do, so basically Indonesia is being Islamized much the same as else where. It is damned scary, but when I see the news back from Europe, I get the impression that there are large areas more islamized than Indonesia, In the last year I have only seen two women dress in the burqua, and it is a rare site to see any men in the full Ali Baba rig out, I am sure I would feel more living in many areas in the UK than I do here. This is maybe why I support the "evil ones",because looking from my position the situation is far worse than what people in the UK realize. I have had a few scary moments, but in all fairness, I provoked them. One such incident is when in asked one of the mosques to turn down their speakers at 3.30 in the morning, or another when my Rottwieller chased a chicken into another mosque during friday prayers. I can drive around Java on my own quite safely, because there are a lot of people who are still Javanese and have not been arabized yet, but they will disappear, because islam is being forced upon the school children.

So since me settling in here, Indonesia has sunk further into the black hole of islam, but I will not move out because of that, I will do all to stay here and keep on reminding the people I know that they are Javanese not arabs.

No I do not experience racism but they do look at me weird when I explain I am an athiest. The concept of no god/spirits really blows their minds

I still believe the best thing to do is boycott Indonesia, because most indonesians have been exploited so much that they will be able to survive, The West should stop filling the troughs of the pigs at the top.

I would suggest not only boycott them. but also use the military to start liberating some of the occupied islands, say Papua New Guinea, and Kalimantan. So that profits from the the gold and coal goes to the natives, instead of Going to Jakarta, or to Kissenger, and lets not forget all the share holders in the west, who are eating at the trough at the expense of the natives, dhimmies and non muslims.

I am not a big believer in conspiracy theories but, assuming that islamists practice taqqiyah and as Indonesia has lots of rabid muslims, did anyone see the bodies or are these ba****ds going to live on,to preach more evil and plot more bombings against innocents.

Also, in places like Indonesia, many natives are fully capable of intense brutality if cornered, as the Dayaks in Kalimantan showed against Madurese Mohammedans some years ago (it was there on InfidelK9's blog). If needed, arm them, as well as Christians and Hindus in Indonesia, and leave them to their own devices.

That's a great piece by InfidelK9 on why he lives in Indonesia. At the same time it worries me about what the future holds for the Australian/Indonesian relationship.

As far as the Australia-Indonesia relationship goes...cutting back on any and every form of 'jizya' from the Australian to the Indonesia government is something I'd like to see Australia doing.

I'd like to see us doing much more work to consolidate our relationships with the decent and halfway decent non-Muslim states in the region - Singapore especially, along with Thailand and the Philippines who are currently struggling to contain 'hot' jihad within their borders; and focusing our 'aid to the poor' on our next-door-neighbours PNG and Timor Lorosae, majority-Christian countries, to both of whom we owe a considerable debt of honour for aid and comfort given to our soldiers during World War II, and who are both much in need of strengthening, since I am sure the jihadists are eyeing them greedily as targets for both forms of jihad, the stealth kind first, then raids and violent conquest-and-plunder-and-mass murder.

Further afield our natural affinities are with India and South Korea more than with totalitarian China.

If we were on the ball we'd also be closely watching the situation in Fiji, the biggest Pacific island country, where the Muslims are growing in numbers and influence.
