Wah.
We've received a number of emails about difficulties logging in since TypeKey rebranded itself as TypePad at some point late last week. We are aware of the problem, and while the ball is in TypePad's court to fix it, apparently if you keep trying to log in, it will eventually go through.

What a relief to know that an inability to sign in, as the by-now maddening demand has it, or the ability to do so only after repeated attempts, and shuttings-down and startings-up, until you get it just right but can't remember what it was you did, and in what order, is not a matter of one's individual idiocy. Daily life is already difficult enough, one long intelligence test that many of us keep failing. How nice to know that the difficulty with TypeKey does not constitute one more nail in one's own mental coffin.
Welcome to TypeKey Purgatory, Hugh. Errrgh, TypePad Purgatory.
It has been very frustrating.
I lost some brilliant, cogent and beautiful prose the first time I pressed "Post" and got the error message.
But, it has worked ever since then, although I make a habit to copy what I want to post before I hit that "Post" button.
I stand corrected; it didn't work just now!
I don't mind so much, as long as it's just technical difficulties, and not part of some insidious Zionist plot to implicate Muslims and make them look bad--ahh[swats forehead]!--I forgot; that's what these sites are for!
I've posted this before, but see whether this helps.
In a separate tab/window, go to typepad.com and sign in from there. Leaving that tab open, go to JW or DW separately in another tab, sign in there (you again need to enter login and password for TypePad) and then start posting. Do a preview and confirm that you aren't signed out, and once you confirm that, then post. Granted, it's a lot more long winded than previously, but this method guarantees that you won't be kicked out.
I've made TypePad.com my home page, so that when I go to IE, I log in there first before I do anything. Note that even this may sometimes be intermittent - for this post, I had to sign in again. Really sucks!
Under TypeKey, once I opened typekey.com and logged in, I didn't have to log in again under various sites that use it, like debbieschlussel, altasshrugs, pajamasmedia. I just had to sign in and automatically, the editor opened in the new page. With this monstrosity, I have to log in twice - once under TypePad.com, and again in this page. Grrrr!!!
Dear Robert, Hugh and all the other Zionist plotters on this site, hey there its Gods own right wing Diva here from West Australia, and yes Robert I do email you often lol.
Well I just wanted to say that the site has been so amazing this year I vote that Robert Spencer, Hugh and all the others here have a slap bang Champagne filled boozy bleary eyed next morning kinda party, a right wing ding to wind up the duumbass mussies at the end of the year for Christ filled Christmas.
Dont forget to sing the Christmas carols in the street and go from door to door dressed as traditional english carollers, and sing those christmas carols for all who have ears whether or not they like it to remind them we are a CHRISTIAN based majority.
Yes, I am Catholic, I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New year and all that, not happy holidays, not happy festivus, not anything pc, just the traditional Christ filled joyous loved and Merry Christmas.
And to the pc morons and pathetic loser appeaser apologists, yes, you lot can go to hell, whilst I have breath left in this fat and cuddly body of mine and attitude to throw around I will continue to defy political correctness, I dont give a rats ass what non Christians think feel or get offended, they can kiss my poor white trash, fat well educated you know what, i is gonna fly my Aussie Flag and say if you dont love Australia leave it, I am gonna say merry Christmas, I am going to eat Ham and Pork on Christmas and offer my family ham sandwiches or Ham on platters I havent decided yet and I am going to very obviously wear my bling bling huge christian cross everywhere I go and I wear my save civilisation fight Jihad tee shirts , put the Jihadwatch stickers still on all our cars despite being vandalised 3 times this year, much to the anger and annoyance of my pc family lol
Thats it I am a red neck zionist kuffar from Perth Western Australia and if people do not like it thats tough titties! and yes I AM an expert on Women and Islam I just dont have the letters after the name from a University to prove it lol.

I had to use my email address to log in. User name wouldn't work.
This is a test.

The change is actually pretty cool. You can now update your comments, like if you made a typo or find new information.
Good job, typething!
UPDATE: Just kidding. You still can't update your comments.
No problems here :)
Its nice to know that others have the same problem as I. I notified Typepad and they responded that I didn't have any problem. So I was led to believe that I was losing my touch.

According to a poster who contacted them, Sixapart seems to think the problem is at the JW end, rather than at TypePad.

Is this something you agree with?
P.S. Has anybody noticed such behavior in any other TypePad blogs e.g. Atlas Shrugs, Debbie Schlussel, et al?
I notified typepad (or whatever it is now) Sunday. It worked on Monday morning. Later on Monday it ceased to work. Now it works again. Catch as catch can.
I just sent them a complaint using Richard's link above. I had to make 5 sign-in attempts before I could post in the thread in DW about the mosque proposals in Athens (Reciprocity). It seems to have gone worse.
Incidentally, when I was about to submit my question, it offered some supportive links about leaving comments, and I checked one of them. It was about smart comments, and having things like our profiles next to our comments. Neat as that would be, it would be nice if TypePad could first ensure that elementary things like Signing In worked. Although buttons that enabled me to highlight and then italicize, embolden, blockquote, link, strike-out and enumerate would be really cool. But get the first things right first.
P.S. Agree with Goobs - it would be nice if we could edit comments.
To answer my above question, I found the same problem @ debbieschlussel.com, so this definitely seems to be a TypePad issue.
Marisol, apologies for so many comments - ironic in light of the difficulty in posting them.
FINALLY!!!!!...It's been two days since I've been allowed to post. I feel like I was in that scene in Tootsie where Teri Garr gets locked in the bathroom and comes flying out with the plunger.
"I'll have to remember that if I ever play a scene where I'm locked in a bathroom." Cracking up!
Revisited Typepad (so this is an improvement?) to reset my password, and succeeded in doing so, using the email they sent to the account I registered with.
I also refreshed my memory in the process as to my login name, which I had forgotten because of having cached it in the browser.
Now, let's see if I can post. Local time is 10:11 CST.
Ready? GO!!!
On the bright side, how much vitriol can we draw from our Muslim friends, when every other post is just: "Test"?
Well, I haven't had any problems, but Opera refuses to keep the Yes option for Remember me? clicked to Yes. And so I have to keep clicking it myself, because Opera forgets.
Previous attempt made while facing Mecca did not work.
Let's try this one while facing nearest local pub.
I've been trading email back and forth with TypePad folks for about 4 iterations now. They are a useless bunch and their ineptitude is bringing down the blogosphere. Here is their latest reply:
Hi, Rick -
If you are able to log in to your TypePad profile at http://www.typepad.com/services/signin, the problem is with the site you are visiting; and you will need to contact the weblog owner and let them know about the trouble you are having, as this is a weblog configuration issue that we cannot resolve on their behalf.
You may wish to try logging in to TypePad at http://www.jihadwatch.org/ and post a comment without previewing it, and see if this allows the comment to be successfully posted.
Regards,
David

I intend to keep pestering them, hah!
I'm glad to see this as its own topic. We can really address this issue in this thread and stop feeling guilty (yeah, right) for hijacking other threads with the TypePad subject.

As a stab at what may help,
I have noticed that "signing off", then "signing in" allows the post to work properly. That leads to the trouble being a (possible) "cookie" issue,
Those who delete them at close of I.E. may see the trouble go away. Mabye.
Okay, here's the response I got from Sixapart:
Glad to see they've pinpointed the problem. However, David's (of Sixapart) solution of not previewing is not acceptable, since we need to see how our posts will look, particularly with using HTML.I'll direct Zalary to this thread, so that he can see other comments as well.
On a separate note, I got this e-mail from TypePad
Cool! I'd certainly appreciate it if the 'powerful commenting tools' mentioned above made its way here. Assuming of course that they are bug free. ;-)I couldn't comment earlier today so I emailed TypePad. This was their response:
"This sounds like it's related to a template issue that we're seeing on some weblogs. The Connect team is working on a resolution for this inside the application, so that the template issue won't log you out of the commenting system. I don't have an exact day for when this will be implemented but we expect that to happen soon. Thank you for your patience."
