Cairo, 6 Nov. (AKI) – Minority Coptic Christians have clashed with Muslims in southern Egypt, according to Christian MP Ibrahim Zanuni quoted by pan-Arab daily Al-Sharq al-Awsat. The violence erupted at a Muslim funeral on Tuesday in the Coptic majority village of al-Tayba in al-Maniya province after Muslims accused Copts of throwing stones at mourners praying at a funeral, Zanuni said.Scuffles broke out between Muslims and Christians and police fired tear gas into the crowds, angering local Copts, according to Zanuni.
Police arrested 40 people over the incident, but there are fears there may be more violence.
Coptic Christians in Egypt have been the target of periodic attacks by Muslim hardliners in recent years and al-Tayba has been the scene of a number of violent incidents including gunfights.
France's Association of Copts held a demonstration in Paris, in June opposing what it alleges are "repeated and ferocious" attacks against members of the Coptic Christian minority in Egypt. Sixteen people were killed in attacks in May and June.
On 31 May, 60 armed Muslims attacked a Coptic monastery in Abufana assaulting dozens of monks and setting alight churches and surrounding buildings, the association reported.

What's most despicable about this are the lies used to justify the violence....taken right out of Muhammad's playbook, what Robert described in his biography of Muhammad as "the displacement of responsibility onto the enemy that would become characteristic of Jihad warriors throughout the ages."
Nonie Darwish in "Now they call me Infidel" speaks of this same displacement of responsibility onto others within their culture and of course on their enemies. How empty a life to not know who you are, just who you hate.
This country should offer astlum to all religious minoritiesies in the Musim world, so long as they meet our crititeria of skills and education our immigratiom laws require.
In stead we our doors or wide open to some of the most uneducated ,unskilled and ignorent people that can be gredged up in Africa -- not to mention their contempt for the ideals and values this country has always stood for.
We should be welcoming those people tht have lived under the Islamic whip, and have the first hand experience to tell the rest of us the truth about the tolerant and peaceful world of Islam.
But then, that wouldn't come under the criteria demanded by the multicultutalist and diversity freaks that control immigration into this country. To them, those who hate and despise our civilization will be the greatest contributors to our way of life.
Doesn't make sense does it? but that's the ideology that motivates them, and it's not likely to change any time soon.
It's going to take a groundswell fron the American public to overthrow this deliberate give away of out nation and way of life, but given the state of the educational system in the United States, dominated as it is by ideologues on the left, we don't have a hope for that anything will ever gets done to save ourselves.

All such demonstrations should be attended in force by all Christian and indeed also all non-Christian resisters of jihad and sharia, in all majority-non-Muslim lands where there are substantial numbers of emigre Copts (whether in Europe, the UK, Australia, Canada or the USA).
All we have to do is find out where our local Coptic community flags their upcoming events - whether demonstrations, like the one mentioned in the article, or cultural/ religious festivals, and even church and school fetes - and then, if at all possible, show up to boost the numbers and, thus, the political and social clout.
I recall that on one major Aussie university that I attended, back in the day, as well as the usual Christian student organisations (Student Christian Movement, Evangelical Union, Newman Society [the Catholics]) there was a Coptic Christian student organisation on campus that was quite as active in their Christian witness, as any of the protestant evangelical groups.
Hint: anyone here who's a faculty member or a student on a big university campus in Australia, USA, Canada - keep an eye open for the Copts. If they're there - you could try getting to know them and discreetly let them know you're fully aware of the horribleness of Islamic Egypt.
One commenter suggested that “all Christians” attend such demonstrations. I hate to disappoint, but Christians in any real sense are quite few in numbers in Western nations, especially in Western Europe, which is decisively antichristian. The bulk of leaders of Western Christianity are a disgrace and their actions and inactions are in stark contrast to the articles of Christianity.
Lately, the attacks on the Copts have increased at a time when Egypt is facing the worst economic catastrophe in its modern history and the Copts are the hardest hit. According, to published reports by concerned organizations, there has been a spike in the kidnapping and forced conversion of Coptic girls in the tone of hundreds annually. What the Muslims post on the internet is that they are waiting for the call to kill all the Copts and take their women as concubines. The hatred and will to harm does not only emanate from the poor slum dwellers. Actually, I read exchanges by Muslim Egyptians studying and living in the West, some who were born in the US and married to American women.
A Coptic holocaust, it breaks my heart to say, is a closed matter. No matter how brutal the Nazis were, the Muslims will be much worst as they have shown themselves through out their sorted history. I no longer have much faith in a God which I cannot reconcile with Science or Reason--- I can not even imagine any light in the end of the tunnel for my poor people. I would ask you to keep them in your prayers, but I know it would do them no good. The most that I can hope for that if any of you are in the position to help a Copt or an Assyrian or any refugee from Islam to do so.

The Copts inside Egypt can do very little. They are vastly outnumbered and branches of the Egyptian government in the security forces and the religious establishment have been directing the eradication campaign against the Copts with the goal of forcing the elites to immigrate and the peasants to convert. The Egyptian Secret Service have infiltrated and disrupted the Coptic rights movement in the Diaspora with double agents and compelled the Coptic religious leadership to crack down on the movement using the Coptic fear of damnation if they disobeyed the representatives of God. Under Egyptian Government pressure, the religious authorities in Egypt have ordered Coptic Churches in the US off-limits for discussing the situation of the Copts in Egypt or organizing any action. Many young Copts have been frustrated by the clerical interference and some of the old “Uncles” who are heading the community for no other reason than the fact that they have been in the US for a long time and they have an MD or a PhD. The Copts clearly carry the scars and the Dhimmi burden though they have been most outspoken compared to the other more Dhimified minorities of the other Muslim countries in the region.
I believe that all the Copts that can leave before a full Sharia state is established in Egypt will do so, opportunities permitting. It looks like the Muslims are even taking full abject Dhimmitude off the table and they are going to opt for either mass conversion or a general massacre. In this world no one will do a damn thing to stop a Coptic genocide. The witch, Amanpour, will not move the world to action- The American presidency will not bomb Egypt into submission or send forces to occupy it and partition into Coptic and Muslim areas. Many will convert to Islam to escape the slaughter and the rape of their female relatives, many others will be slaughtered, a few may survive and live on in abject slavery. That is how I see it, and time will tell!
Dp you remember my suggestion that Christians in Iraq be allowed to settle in the "West Bank," replacing the Muslim Arabs who constitute a permanent threat to Israel? They would still be in the Middle East, and now protected by the army of Israel. They would represent a Christian population that has steadily diminished under Muslim pressure, despite such collaborating islamochristians as Hanan Ashrawi and Naim Ateek.
Impossible? Even if Assyrians start to be massacred en masse, as they were when the British pulled out in 1932? As happened to the Christians in Lebanon (see Damour, Massacre at) during the so-called Civil War? As you suggest could happen to the Copts in Egypt?
At the very least, this preserve of Christianity would serve the interests of many Infidels, starting with, but not ending with, Israel. And the Muslims would simply find their numbers much diminished, with a clearly indigenous Middle Eastern population of Copts, Maronites, and Assyrians, who predate the arrival of Arabs bearing Islam, in Egypt, in Lebanon, in Iraq.
It at least is a possiblity worth raising.

The Israelis are already scratching their heads about what to do with the many Sudanese who, having fled from Sudan to Egypt, then again flee - because of the abominable treatment they receive from the Egyptian Muslims - to Israel.
I suggested, in the talkback to one JPost article that was agonising over what to do, that Sudanese MUSLIM refugees should *not* be allowed to stay, that they must be sent somewhere else in the Muslim world, pronto; but that bona fide Sudanese Christians should have two things explained to them 1. far from escaping Jihad by coming to Israel, they have merely moved from one frontline to another and that therefore 2. if they wish to stay in Israel as non-Jewish residents they must, if of suitable age and physical fitness, sign up for military training in order to help the Jewish state resist the Jihad.
If the Sudanese Christian refugees who make it all the way to Israel were incorporated under those conditions, Copts, Maronites and Assyrians - if prepared to jettison any traditional or caught-from-Muslims antisemitism at the door, and live [and fight against the Jihad!] elbow-to-elbow with those many Jews who already live in Judea and Samaria - could be invited to do exactly the same thing.
