The following is pure British patriotism (note to LGF nothing from Nazi Germany)

Our Union Jack

It's always painful to watch videos of the Barbarians in action.

They remind me of Hitler and his hate-filled tirades.

Old Atlantic~

I find it a tad odd that the melody to "Our Union Jack" was originally used for the Irish anthem, "The Wearing of the Green".

No, that doesn't make me a Muslim.

There is no irony in Islam.

The Wearing of the Green

Paddy dear, an' did ye hear the news that's goin' round?
The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground;
St. Patrick's Day no more we'll keep, his colour can't be seen,
For there's a bloody law against the wearin' o' the Green.

O I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the hand
And he asked 'How's poor old Ireland, and how does she stand?'
She's the most distressful country this world has yet to see
For they're hangin' men and women there for wearin' o' the green

And if the colour we must wear is England's cruel red,
Will serve to remind us of all the blood that she has shed,
So take the shamrock from your hat and cast it in the sod,
But never fear, 'twill take root there, though under foot 'tis trod

When law can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they grow,
And when the leaves in summer time, their colours dare not show,
Then I too will change the colour I wear in my caubeen,
But 'till that day, praise God, I'll stick to wearin' o' the green

I was thinking of signing the petition as an expatriate - I'm an American with British ancestors... (it's only been 8 or 9 generattions).

It might amuse you to know that the British people and Army do not take these things seriously.

"The Wearing of the Green" was the proud march of some of the Irish Regiments in the British Army. It was the regimental march of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers until 1922 when believe it or not it was taken up by their successors, the Royal Ulster Fusiliers - but they did not play it in Belfast.

This is not unique as one of the Scottish Regiments marched to the tune, "Why hey Johnnie Cope are ye waking yet?" Commemorating a 18th century battle when Scottish protestant rebels caught the English General Cope in bed and routed his army.

The great Welsh march "Men of Harlech" is also used by Welsh Regiments. It calls on the Britons (In this case the Welsh Celts) to rise against the Saxon Foe man.

BTW

The Napper Tandy mentioned landed in Ireland after the 1798 rebellion had ended. When he found out he got smashed out of his skull on rum or whiskey and was carried back to the ship for the journey to France. Marvelous how people who doing can gain world wide fame on the strength of a song.

Typo

Marvelous how people who do nothing can gain world wide fame on the strength of a song.

Civilus Defendus
I'm with you, I think anyone who subscribes to British values, speaks English (or Irish, Scottish or Welsh for that matter, although not many nowadays) and honors British customs should be able to sign, although I understand it would be hard to verify this.
The irony is that those of the British "dispora" to use an overwrought term (might as well, everyone else is), can't sign, but the "British" Islamofascists and the British quisling politicians that gave them citizenship, can sign.

Skeven and Fred, thanks for the comments.

I've signed it as an expat - I was born in England and still have a British passport. There are only 4,714 signatures so far!!

Please, if you qualify at all, sign this important petition.

Don't sign this, or the good folks @ LGF will think you're pro-BNP. Instead, you should respond to this petition by embracing Islam so that the Galloways and Guardian blokes will like you.
