"I Reject Islam and Love Israel"

An ex-Muslim writes about how he rejected the hate and intolerance with which he was brought up.

"I Reject Islam and Love Israel," by "X-Muslim" in Arutz Sheva, November 12 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A great burden has been lifted from my heart.

Shalom. As an Arab Muslim I once asked myself: Why do I hate Israel? I really thought about this question. After only a little deliberation, the answer was clear: because I am a Muslim and Islam is extremely intolerant.

It's intolerance to everything non-Muslim that is the problem. But today I have rejected the teachings of Islam for this very reason. I have left Islam.

As an Arab "Palestinian", living in an Arab country, coming from a Muslim family, I was brought up with hatred of Jews, Christians and all non-Muslims. Now I'm older, I have matured enough to view the world from a different perspective. I reviewed real history and studied the sequence of events before and since the restoration of the State of Israel. I decided to step outside the mindset of a typical Muslim. It didn't take long to realize that I was on the wrong track and I moved quickly to the other side. In order to be at peace with myself, I have come to reject the hatred of Israel and now love my former enemy. I have not embraced another religion, but I am seeking a new spiritual path.

Why do the Arabs and Muslims have to reject the presence of a Jewish state in a tiny percentage of the land of the Middle East? Why does Islamic intolerance forbid other nations their right to exist in their own land? The whole world should realize that Islam is at war with all nations on the planet. In our Muslim societies it is not "the extremists", but the whole society infected with this hatred. It is in the mosques, the schools, in the media and in the homes of nearly every Muslim family. It isn't just Israel they hate, but America and Christians as well. Islam hates all other religions.

In the case of Israel, its only fault is that it's a Jewish state that wants to live in peace within its borders. It's not a struggle of so-called "Palestinians" to establish a country and retain some land, which was never theirs - I know, because I studied the real history. The real problem is racism and the intolerance of Muslims, the blind hatred and jealousy when seeing a flourishing, strong and modern country where people from other faiths can live peacefully.

Why are the Jews forbidden to have a country? These people have contributed much to the world's culture and offered the best scientists, artists, doctors; and they have been victims of intolerance throughout history. Why are they forbidden to live in their national Zionist dream and return to their homeland, which was some desert which they cultivated and transformed into one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth? Why do the Arabs and the Muslim world have to take everything and claim every land they step on as theirs?

"Palestine" never existed and should never exist - and this is coming from me, an Arab classified as a "Palestinian." The creation of a Palestinian state would be the biggest threat to the existence of Israel and would not bring one day of peace to Israel. I know how my people think. Promoting such a state would be the equivalent of supporting the Nazis in their quest to destroy the Jews....

Be sure to read it all.

A nice story...if the individual is at all who he/she claims to be. Even if so, the mindset is anomalous, to say the least.

This actually makes me think of Western converts to Islam who embrace the religion with totally unrestrained zeal. For example, women who cover themselves from head to toe.

It's probably real, though. Certainly there are many former Muslims who have completely forsaken Islam and its ways of thinking. It's just that this guy is really enthusiastic about Israel now.

Here is a person who rejects the religion of peace, but in order to survive, he/she has to become invisible. An important observation that is continuously ignored by the mainstream media.

This guy is not anomalous. Think of Nonie Darwish, Walid Shoebat, and the son of the HAMAS guy who turned coat last spring. The more blatant and militant the "Palestinians" become, the more people like this will see the evil in it. The rest are just happily evil.

The real problem is racism and the intolerance of Muslims, the blind hatred and jealousy when seeing a flourishing, strong and modern country where people from other faiths can live peacefully.

Yeah, and the Arabs never got over Israel kicking their nancy arses three times and completely exposing their ineptitude to the rest of the world. Arabs can never come together to do anything productive, not even to kill Jews, their #1 passion in life.

Whoa, how refreshing!

Yeah, jdamn, you never hear the Mohammedans talk about the 1967 3-Day Arab-Israeli War! Never! Gee, I wonder how come Jew-hating "allah" allowed the Jews to win? lol

No, Jesus Christ Supercop, this isn't the writing of some zealous convert. It's an example of reasoned thought leading a man to question, and reject, what he's learned to date.

Unfortunately, as KrazyKafir mentioned, for his safety he must remain invisible. There can be no face-to-face discussion with him, as should be possible in a civil society.

Too bad. Others need to be able to learn from him.

All you hear about is the perceived oppression from all the non Muslims. The whining and the begging and the double talk. The funny thing Muslims in the west are just as idiots as their brothers in the UMMAH. Point being their goal to establish sharia and Islam when it is clear that all it leads to is violence, misery, chaos and hatred. Their arrogance and stupidity is what holds them back. Holding onto a barbaric ideology and not second guessing it has driven them mad with lust and envy. They cannot fathom that fact that Islam has failed them but the only way to not face that fact is to blame the non Muslim world.

JDAMN: "This guy is not anomalous. Think of Nonie Darwish, Walid Shoebat, and the son of the HAMAS guy who turned coat last spring."

RESPONSE: We can add Hirsi Ali, Ibn Warraq, Wafa Sultan and Taslima Nasrin. That makes 7.

I'm sure if we think real hard, we can come up with 5 or 6 others...out of 1.5 billion.

Not anomalous???

Wow. See what happens when you read too much. The Ummah must act, this apostate must be silenced, before too many others start thinking for themselves.

Live long and prosper, ex-Muslim.

Exactly Cornelius. It is anomalous and for that reason it's worthless, in fact it's dangerous because it leads people to think there's hope for Muslims to change in significant numbers. There is no hope. We have an enemy over a billion strong who will not change in number big enough to make a difference, and people with an unrealistic soft spot in their heart like jdamn are doing their small part to endanger us.

Cornelius, lots of Muslims leave Islam. Many never do it openly out of fear for their personal safety. Only the really brave ones speak out about it. I mentioned Nonie, Walid Shoebat, and the HAMAS guy because they came from the heart of the Israel/"Palestine" conflict. Ibn Warraq, Ayaan, and Ali Sina did not. I would imagine that most apostates leave as quietly and secretively as possible and many of them even assume new identities after doing so. Read all the letters from apostates on FaithFreedom. Watch that show on Life TV. Watch the 700 Club. Shoot, read YouTube comments. This other chick and I helped bring a guy out Islam after he said he was questioning it (which means he's leaving because Islam doesn't stand up to much scrutiny). We answered his questions and referred him FaithFreedom articles. He left. Apostates are everywhere. Peter Hammond's militia converted an entire tribe to Christianity and other keep dwindling in. 6 million Africans leave Islam every year. 90% of Iran has left Islam. Good people almost always end up being horribly victimized by Islam. It forces people out by its very nature, especially women, blacks, and any non-Arab. It happens more than you know.

It may be anamolous with respect to magnitude while still providing actionable intel in terms of direction.

There are undoubtedly quite a few Muslims with relatively intractible bonds to Islam who yet complain about Islamic societies.

We need the equivalent of a Radio Free Europe to unapologetically preach Western values and individual rights.

Who knows what fruit such an effort could yield if we but try?

The popularity of Father Z's show makes it clear that there are quite a few people who can think for themselves, if only in private.

I look forward to seeing this article in The Guardian and Independant.

Sorry I cannot share the optimism many show here about muslims leaving islam, especially when I see reports about how rapidly islam is spreading

Just one example

In Papua New Guinea a growing number of people are now choosing to pray at a mosque rather than a church.

PNG is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of people turning their backs on Christianity and converting to Islam.

"A lot of Papua New Guineans are converting to Islam not because they don't like the other religion. It's just they've become, they feel comfortable in there," said Khalid, an Imam who received his training in Malaysia.

JDAMN: "90% of Iran has left Islam."

This is the kind of overstatement that undermines your credibility.

I'm aware that there is a great deal of disillusionment in Iran with the mulla-ocracy. But to clams that "90% of Iran has left Islam" defies all rational scrutiny.

Denver,

Unlike Jdamn, I understand that stories like this are hardly representative of the Muslim mindset. But ultimately, I believe the only prospect for a NON-MILITARY outcome to the clash of civilizations is a mass movement in the Muslim world that rejects Sharia if not Islam.

I know it sounds pie-in-the-sky, but let's not sell short the allure of freedom.

Dude, fewer than 10% of Iranians attend a mosque. It's a nation with a pathetic GNP. People are quite impoverished, and yet they can't bring themselves to go to the mosque even though they actually get paid to do so and they get fed when they go there. Ahmedinejad has a 10% approval rating. That is not a coincidence. ANy real Shi'ite would happily sacrifice their nation's livelihood to destroy Israel. Any real Shi'ite would back him. ANd they do. All 10% of them. Both Ali Sina and Reza Safa say that only 10% of all Iranians are still Muslim. Lots of them are atheists and many of them convert to Christianity and Zoroastrianism. They're better than the Arab world and they know it. That's why they're not being their bitches anymore. If I have no credibility in saying that then neither do Ali SIna or Reza Safa.

I also forgot to mention the Arabs for Israel when I was reeling off groups of apostates. And Papua New Guinea is like any newer Islamic paradise. It may take a while for them to realize what Islam does to their society. It's never real Islam at first, but once Islam turns it into Somalia or Egypt, people leave in droves. Unless they're Arab and to a lesser extent Paki because Islam often comprises such a large part of their identity.

Call me naive if you want. You would be the first, since I'm the most cynical person I've ever met. I agree with Fjordman that Islam has another 100 years max before it undoes itself.

This item is another demonstration of what I frequently assert -- that no matter how screwed up a culture is, you cannot altogether stamp out human virtue.

The good news is that the good will rise up perennially in all times and places.

The bad news is that all these demonstrations of how nice and normal-seeming mohammedans are prove nothing. Their culture is still deadly, destructive and a threat to the lives and well being of the rest of the world.

Why, because the presence of nice people tells you nothing about the ideology and likely actions of a culture. Niceness will appear everywhere (just as genuine virtue does) simply because it is part of being human. What would be shocking would be a culture in which nice people could not be found.

Humans are, well ... human.

But don't get me wrong. I am not trying to equate superficially nice people with models of virtue like the person who wrote the article quoted above.

Real virtue of this nature is a whole other level.

It is the very best part of what is human.

I don't think anyone is saying that the Muslim world is on the verge of becoming apostates en masse.

However, to not avail ourselves to the possibilities that exist is to fight one-handed.

Even a lot of true believers are truly disatisfied with Islamic socities. There is leverage to be utilized, would there be any desire on our part to do so.

Sobieski,

Yours is a cogent and plausible analysis.

The long-term hope is based on one of two possibilities...

1) that the Islamic world reforms its doctrine

2) that the Muslim world seeks solutions for its problems outside the purview of Islam

Neither seems probable, but #2 is more possible. What is certain is that by our (Western) validation of Islam as a "religion of peace", we are retarding the prospects of either.

JDAMN,

In this day and age, who can blame you for being cynical.

First, he's only anomalous because Muslim clerics and radicals KILL people who question them. You'd think twice before speaking out too.
Second, he is not a reformed Muslim, he is an EX-Muslim. His case doesn't give the false impression that Islam can be reformed.
Take-away from his story: Free Muslims from the very real death threats that keep them enslaved to the clerics, and they will leave Islam on their own in torrential waves. This is the Abolition Movement of the 21st century. Don't be a spectator.

Could someone bring these remarks to the attention of the President-Elect of the United States? I think he would benefit, and I assume his admirers are not wrong in admiring the openness of his mind.

Very good Max...I like the idea of using the analogy of the Abolitionists, not just because it's true, but it speaks a language that "social reformers" (the Liberal/Left) can understand. Other points of nomenclature might be "civil rights" (for infidels and Muslim women), "gender equality", "equality of rights for all people" and "the struggle against supremacism" (terms Robert often uses), and even the infamous word "racism" can and should be employed whenever possible against Muslim oppressors of ethnic minorities (e.g., Darfur).

I believe it is importance we re-appropriate the language of the Left, language once representing the bona-fide aspirations of human progress, then usurped and transformed into hackneyed Orwellianisms that more often than not denote gross deformations of the original intent (if not the actual opposite). When communicating with clueless Liberals, the use of this language will enhance - in their enfeebled minds - the moral strength of our arguments and make it much harder for them to perceive us as reactionary.

Novalis:

Have a look at who his likely appointments are to be.

I think that you are in for a disappointment.

In regard to Moslems leaving Islam, I have seen reports on the internet that Moslems in Europe are leaving Islam at the rate of 2000/day. I don't remember the site where I read it, so I can't vouch for its truth; it may be mere wishful thinking. But if true, it means that Islam in Europe is only being maintained by the continued immigration of fresh Moslems. Without is, Islam would gradually wither away in Europe.

Cornelius
Yes, I think abolition is the exact word needed to free millions of people trapped in Islam, not by "lack of information" or "ignorance" or "indoctrination" or "mind control" or "fear of being cut off from family" but by crude physical force and threats of being murdered by clerics and their jihadi henchmen.
Think about it: Millions forced to endure whipping by "morality police", banned from normal dancing and singing. Women banned from driving, forced to wear silly ugly and contraining clothing, restricted from sports, careers, required to have male relative escort to leave the house, can't learn of other religions, forced to hate jews and other non-Muslims, can't divorce, permanently unequal to male muslims, can't keep kids if husband divorces them, must accept other wives and beatings, etc. All because Muslims are forced to be Muslim. That's not faith, that's slavery.

The New Abolitionism: ABOLISH JIHAD

Do you consider yourself a liberal? And a supporter of human rightsfor all?

I call upon you to join us in calling upon Muslims to permanently ABOLISH JIHAD. ...on the grounds of basic human decency. Much as we in the West abolished slavery on those same grounds between about 300 and 150 years ago.

I've been thinking about that a while. I agree in spades. Jihad Abolition is truly the abolitionism of the 21st century.

Significantly, this language construct could make it much easier to "get through" to the impenetrable mind indoctrinated with PC-MC.

The language of human rights, slavery abolition, and opposition to bigotry - words and ideas that have "bite" with the left, despite their distortions from PC-MC. These should be intensely leveraged.

Abolish Jihad Now!

Jdamn is right. The majority of Iranians living under the Shah's Constitutional Monarchy only observed a modicum of Muslim rituals, especially the middle and upper classes, and seldom attended the mosque. After the Islamic Revolution many who fled Iran in the late 1970s and 1980s turned to atheism. Some Iranians who still reside in their birth country only pretend to be observant Muslims in order to avoid persecution and possible death.

A contemporary book that somewhat highlights the subject is "Lipstick Jihad," the memoirs of an Iranian raised in the U.S. who moved back to Iran as an adult. Her encounters with the Virtue Police were horrifying, a gauntlet that young people in Iran embrace daily in order to engage in forbidden social activities.

At one point I figured it was right for the Palestinians to have a state....but seeing their behavior the past 10 years, I don't think so. This article reinforces that believe.

Time for the USA to put troops into Israel & take out Hamas once & for all. Get the fucking muslims out of Jerusalem & move the Dome of the Rock to Mecca which should have happened in '67. Palestinian lands to the Jews....and keep going.

KEEP THE LANDS DONATED BY ARAB'S ('67) FOR SECURITY.

Time to BACK DOWN ALL THE MUSLIM COUNTRIES IN THE AREA....hands off Israel.

NO MORE $$ TO MUSLIM COUNTRIES.

Saudi Arabia's time to PAY muslim countries welfare....then we go after them....they call us Imperialist, it's time we act it!

Kanaka,

The quote was "90% of Iran has left Islam".

Feel free to believe it. Such a "statistic" will no doubt leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy.

I suspect it would be very easy for a Falastin Arab convert to Judaism to hide in the Israeli population. After all, one of the screaming imbalances of the Mideast conflict is that all those children and grandchildren of the Maghreb, Iraq (the second homeland of Jewry), Yemen, Egypt, etc. who relocated to Israel are no-questions asked Israelis.

Good luck to the guy who's apparently seen 3/4-4/5 of the light.

Hmm, I'm beginning to get the picture there, joeblough.

encouraging article

Sharia law, like communism before it, becomes less popular to people after they live it in real life.

There were some genuine true-believer communists in Poland before 1944. If there were any in 2008, the could hold their meetings in a one bedroom appartment.

One of my great hopes is that Sharia law will be discredited from within. Persia is in many respects, the ideal place for such a course of events to take place.

If this guy's on the level, it's consistent that having apostasised he should wish to free himself of one of the ugliest elements of Islam, its inveterate Judenhass.

These days, when Muslims genuinely come out of Islam, or make moves away from it, very often this is accompanied by renunciation of antisemitism, and a massive change of heart toward Israel and the Jews.

Think of Magdi Cristiano Allam. Shortly before coming out as an apostate and publicly converting to Christianity, he broke with the antisemitism of Islam, writing a book 'Viva Israele!' in praise of Israel, putting particular emphasis on the Jewish affirmation of the sanctity of human life.

Then there's that Bangladeshi journalist, a fellow who seems able to think outside the box; he hasn't declared himself an apostate, but he has gotten into enormous trouble, and may even get killed, merely for using his commonsense, deciding that Jews and the Jewish state weren't so bad after all, and therefore proceeding to speak well of Israel and argue that Bangladesh should recognise it. (And, having gotten into trouble for this, he has still resolutely refused to back down and toe the standard Islamic Judenhass line).
