"It's unfortunate and sad that representatives of the media and groups like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch seem to show more solidarity with the accused terrorists than with the actual victims of terrorist attacks"

Over the last couple of days I have received a flood of supportive and encouraging emails from many, many people, and I am very grateful for them all. One of them was from the estimable Jane Novak, who writes again today to notify me of the observations of the father of a sailor who was killed in the jihad attack against the USS Cole on the Guantanamo trial of Ali Hamza Bahlul.

"Gary Swenchonis Sr. reports from Gitmo on the Trial of Bahlul, 'Its Just Not Right,'” by Jane Novak at Armies of Liberation, November 3:

Gary Swenchonis Sr. is the father of Gary Swenchonis, Jr. who was one of 17 sailors murdered in the terror attack on the USS Cole in 2000. Swenchonis Sr. is at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, attending the trial of Ali Hamza Bahlul. The al-Qaeda operative was convicted today on multiple counts on charges of conspiracy, solicitation to commit murder and providing material to support terrorism.

In a statement, Gary said, "I was in court today at Guantanamo to testify at a military commission trial of an al Qaeda terrorist who created a recruitment video that exploits the death of our son and his mates who were killed or wounded in the attack on the USS Cole attack.

My wife and I have had the continuous support of the members of the prosecutors office and the military personnel stationed on the base. And for that we are extremely and sincerely grateful.

It's unfortunate and sad that representatives of the media and groups like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch seem to show more solidarity with the accused terrorists than with the actual victims of terrorist attacks.

American sailors died in the sneak terror attack on the USS Cole and none of these groups are demanding justice for these sailors. I would have hoped that the national media would have been interested and present at this trial which effects our whole nation. Their absence at this trial is just not right."

Bahlul is the self proclaimed media chief of al-Qaeda and made a powerful recruiting video featuring the bombing of the USS Cole. Bahlul also scripted the video wills of two 9/11 highjackers before they lauched their mass murder plot. Prior to sentencing Gary gave a victims impact statement on the loss of his son in the bombing.

Gary is a vocal advocate of re-opening the USS Cole investigation and believes the Yemeni government’s level of complicity in the attack was never fully explored.

I used to be a liberal/progressive but it was the attitude like the one demonstrated in courtroom that drove me away from them.

I remember after the Madrid and London bombings liberals making comments like "they had it coming", "thats what they get for supporting Bush", etc. And very, very few would say anything about the victims.

And the same thing with the Gitmo thugs, liberals lionized them, made them out to be martyrs, they ignored the fact that those men were fanatical murderers.

And what happened in the courtroom was just one more example of the monsterous value system of those on the Left. They care nothing for the innocents slaughtered by fanatics, they only care for the fanatics.

Reminds me of the pack-rape trials Down Under where the perps showed up with their extended clans and called the victim(s) 'whores' and 'sluts' and cursed the courts in the vilest language.

Here again, I see Arab-money at work.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven. The whole Gitmo thing has been manipulated, not one of these terrorists has been sentenced or executed. Why do you think that is?

"thats what they get for supporting Bush""

hours after the london bombing, one ex childhood "friend" of mine sent me a text saying that the bombs were the "fault of herr Bush and blair".

He's now an ex friend.

The poor Dad, sitting there surrounded by these idiots. He finally got to see a trial, and the courtroom is packed with people concerned for the terrorist's rights....

Thanks for your help as always Rob. He'll appreciate it once he's back in the states.

"They care nothing for the innocents slaughtered by fanatics, they only care for the fanatics."

Correction: they DO NOT care for fanatics, they do not care for anybody, just like skinheads do not care for hitler or their fellow thugs, it's just their hatred, their ideology, that demands them to support whomever they support. The sooner decent folks in the West wake up from the nonsensical "well meaning" explanation of the leftist motivation the better.

Amnesty International is perfectly aware of Al Quaeda's attrocities and the fact that they feel zero moral outrage towards them is a conclusive proof that they have zero morals. Sure they can be useful when they slamming say Saudi Arabia for their barbarism, but make no mistake: should the very same savages that are currently running religious police in SA change their affiliation to some non-government (preferably anti-US) equally or even more brutal gang, they'll recieve full support from AI.

The only people who would speak for the victims are their relatives, those who served with them, and ordinary Americans who appreciate the sacrifice made by these young sailors. The families have access but who else would be allowed onto the base? What about their representatives in Congress?

It's one downside to holding these tribunals away from the US mainland.

Leon: I lost a lot of friends that day. That day was a real eye-opener.

I know the feeling , standing in a court room with people supporting the terrorist and watching 2 innocent boys forced to follow Islam against their will ,

and the mother who was an FBI informant for years before Sept 11 left totally destitute.

Unfortunately , the terrorists know how to penetrate the judicial system .Not only they can afford the predatory lawyer who does not know the law but knows the judge but they also lie in court like there is no to morrow.

It is time to ring the bell and expose what is going on in the judicial system with the creeping Sharia.

An observer writes from Gitmo to say there were no Bahlul rights advocates physically inside the court today, "unless you count his U.S. government paid Saudi-American translator, who was silent, and his Air Force Reserves defense attorney, whom Bahlul likewise muzzled."

We'll get another statement from Gary once he's back in the states in a few days to clarify things. They only gave him one phone call...

There are other things at work here.

I believe there is enough evidence that the Gitmo trials are being deliberately mismanaged and behind this are people like David England and Hesham Islam, the Muslim brotherhood mole in the pentagon, who calls the shots.

They care about certain fanatics, but not all. A right-to-life fanatic who killed an abortionist could expect little support from the left. Some fanatics are better than others.
Nazis are presented as totally evil, but Bolsehviks and Maoists, who killed far more prople, are presented as reformers who meant well, but overdid things a bit.

lets look at the bright side. 25% of the media knows who Amnasty is. I's "International".

The other 75% are selling the benefits of Manure. Making perfume in a pretty bottle as proof of how appealing it is. Marketed as a vague testimonial of well documented opinion.

If your the CBC you can even add dripping condescension to those who find the scent-unappealing.

The polarity of the Planet is reversing and the magnetic field will need to play catch up.

I'd like to add one more story that helped change my view.

Back when the Minute Men were formed the liberal blogosphere went apeshit. A few big time liberal bloggers openly called for the torture and deaths of the Minute Men for daring to help secure our borders. They even encouraged MS-13 to go after them.

Whats worse almost none of the posters wrote back in protest. Most instead supported their torture and deaths.

These sick bastards could easily have been in a another life a Nazi concentration guard or a executioner for Mao or Stalin.

Lastly I really don't think anyone can change the minds of people who willingly replaced their conscience and morals with a totalitarian ideology that is as bad Islam.

Secular jihadists anyone?

I quit supporting these pimps of suffering a long time ago. Their stupid die-ins and other attention getting acts only serves to make them modern day pharisees and blatant hypocrites. The victims of Islamic terror don't look as good on T shirts and bumper stickers as a naked man pyramid from Abu Ghraib. Shmanesy International, Human Rights Industrial Racket.

I got this link from Phyllis Chesler's website.

Scroll down and there are more AI links to atrocities Islamic.

Amnesia Intentional will never get another penny out of me. Ever since I saw Irene Khan rave about 'Gulag Gitmo" that commie organization is dead in the water...

waltc,
Regarding those liberal nuts who sanction killing, their day will come. President (to-be) Obama wants to create a "civilian force" to handle problems at home. (What happened to the police and to the National Guard?)
Just wait until the new civilian force starts doing whatever Obama thinks it will do. Boy will liberals be surprised. Everyone who votes for Obama can thank themselves.

I am sick and tired of hearing about the rights of terrorists in Gitmo or anywhere for that matter!!!!
The ACLU and Amnesty Interenational were created to help those that couldn't get help elsewhere when it came to "human rights", but those murdering pack of hyeneas that call themselves warriors for Allah do not deserve the same basic respect of human rights because they do not afford to anyone else! They are FAR FROM HUMAN! I lived in NYC when 9/11 happened, it is a day that is burned into my memory and one I will never forget. My exhusband was NYPD, we lost many friends that day. Shortly before the towers came crashing down, I was on the cellphone with him and watching it on TV. The last thing I heard from him was him yelling at his driver to get out of the way and the towers crashed down and there was silence! I thought I had watched/heard my husband of 1 yr and 2 days die. It wasn't until 12 hrs later that I saw him and the state he was in. He was never the same the rest of our marriage. I watched him go downhill emotional and psychologically during the last 4 yrs of our marriage. We never celebrated our anniversary after that (Sept 9th). It destroyed the wonderful, loving, giving man I had fallen in love with. His anger and frustration took it's toll and he pushed me further away and finally asked for a divorce. And it happened to many survivors of that heinous crime! I am not minimizing the loss of life, please understand that, but he and many like him were the "walking dead"!
In most states you can sue somebody for alienation of affection. So let me ask this... WHO THE HELL DO I SUE for ruining the man I loved and our marriage? I can't sue those cave dwellers, those subhumans. I can't make them pay for killing my friends and essentially killing my husband! Is the ACLU and Amnesty International going to step up to our behalf? Those two organizations and the liberal press and anybody who has offered words of support to those walking samples of fecal matter need to know one thing... they are committing a crime, as long as we are at war with them, they are committing TREASON!
"Title 18, Part I, Chapter 115, 2381. Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within
the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."
And WALT.. your exfriend who blamed Herr Bush and Blair, remind him.. that Hitler started out the same way as Obama!! Our guns, our liberties, socialist ideology...etc.
And for anybody who is curious, my ex committed himself to an intense program after our divorce and his doing much better (is not quite his old self but is much better than he was). As for me, I have learned to cope with it and move on with my life. But every September 11th is a dark day in my year.

Saoirse, it was a nightmare that day and a lot of people lived it close up. Im glad to hear he's doing better but its a dramatic heart wrenching tale. September is a dark day for me too, and it should be for the entire country.
