I owe you one, infidels.
Man who planned "black day" of terror, and who had "direct links" with Bin Laden, far from getting "justice," gets mega-jizya bucks for protection.
"Lawyers for London Al Qaeda bomb plot gang cost taxpayer £5 million," by Shekhar Bhatia for the Daily Mail, November 4:
Lawyers defending a terror gang cost the taxpayer £5 million in legal aid, it was revealed today.Ringleader Dhiren Barot intended to murder thousands by detonating bombs on the Heathrow Express, under the Thames and in US buildings including the New York Stock Exchange.
He admitted conspiracy to murder and was jailed at Woolwich crown court with seven members of his gang in November 2006.
But he and his gang's case cost millions after Barot waited almost two years before he finally entered a guilty plea - knowing he faced an 80-year sentence if he denied his role and was found guilty.
The Court of Appeal later decided to reduce his minimum tariff from 40 to 30 years.
That process alone is likely to have added tens of thousands of pounds to the cost to the taxpayer.
Among those who profited from the case was Barot's solicitor, Mudassar Arani, who has already earned thousands of pounds more in legal aid from other terror cases including that of the jailed extremist cleric Abu Hamza.
Other lawyers who would have received legal aid payments were Ian Macdonald QC and barrister Ali Bajwa, who represented Barot when he appealed against his sentence.[...]
Barot, from Kingsbury, planned a 'black day' of terror in a series of co-ordinated bombings with the help of a gang of seven men each recruited for their expertise in various aspects of the plot.
He wrote: 'Imagine the chaos that would be caused if a powerful explosion was to rip through London and actually rupture the river itself.'
Barot was described as the most high-profile terror leader ever captured in Britain, with direct links to Osama bin Laden.
"Among those who profited from the case was Barot's solicitor, Mudassar Arani, who has already earned thousands of pounds more in legal aid from other terror cases including that of the jailed extremist cleric Abu Hamza."
Mudassar Arani should be looked into in case he's donating his monies to terrorists. That would be amazing if he did. Imagine that - this guy profits from defending terrorists and then (if he does) donates to terrorists so they get caught and he can defend them again and earn more money. Not a bad income system when you think about it.
And we're all too happy to be paying jizya to jihadists. If this keeps happening, expect Britain's financial system to collapse provided terrorists haven't blown it up beforehand.
"Barot was described as the most high-profile terror leader ever captured in Britain, with direct links to Osama bin Laden."
So, let's make sure we protect him at all costs, right, Londonistan?
And to hell with the non-violent indigenous British, eh wot? To hell with them! We (heart) the Mohammedan Jihadists!
This is simply how the legal system in the UK works. Everyone, regardless of race, colour, religion etc. and regardless of what crime they are alleged to have committed is entitled to legal aid and support. It can be frustrating to see the stuff going on in certain cases but the moment you start bypassing these basic human rights you are actually playing into the hands of the terrorists.
Where are the Tissues to dry my tearing eyes? Only 5 Million? what kind of defense is that? surely there must be more available to defend this poor misunderstood soul.
Five million pounds is 7.6 million dollars.
l have heck of a cheaper way of sending this scum off, drop them over the ocean, shark food that way you can be green as well as save tax payers dollars. otherwise islamist will bankrupt the Brits.
"Basic human rights", Mohammed? In which countries? Muslim countries too?
How much are we paying for his medical bills after he was anointed with boiling cooking oil in Franklyn prison?
That must be a lot of money.
We should deport these people like "The Franklyn Fryer" or better still bring back the death penalty for criminals of this type and be done.
Then we have their wives and dozens of children supported by the state on the outside, it's outrageous.
Not far from this story:
So the British like to spend millions of pounds on their terrorists that are domestically in this country.
Setting this aside, our major concern should be, what is the Obama administration planning to do with the enemy combatants (that's what they call them)in Gitmo, when they shut it down?
Though both presidential candidates have supported the closing of Gitmo, that is were the differences part. McCain wants to put the enemy combatants in US military prisons in the US but still try them under the guidelines of military tribunals. Obama wants to try them in conventional US courts with all the civilian trappings.
Former CIA Director James Woolsey, said that Obama has “an extremely dangerous and extremely naive approach toward terrorism . . . and toward dealing with prisoners captured overseas who have been engaged in terrorist attacks against the United States.”
One of the early and enthusiastic endorsers of the Illinois senator for president was a group called Habeas Lawyers for Obama.
“We have worked closely with Senator Obama,” the group proclaimed in its official endorsement, which said habeas corpus was in danger because of the treatment of enemy coalition troops captured in the war on terrorism. This is of course shear nonsense, it clearly was in no danger when President Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War. Senator Obama in fact helped lead the fight in the Senate against the Bush administration’s efforts in the fall of 2006 to strip the [Federal stateside] courts of jurisdiction. Senator Obama even made his key staffers and even his offices available to fight the Bush administration on the Gitmo issue .
One of those lawyers that Obama had openly supported is one Michael Ratner, who heads a legal activist group called the "Center for Constitutional Rights", which Waller said “has publicly supported or otherwise defended the murderers of American law enforcement officers, including FBI special agents Jack Coler and Ronald Williams; Fulton County, Georgia, Deputy Sheriff Ricky Kinchen; New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster; Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner; and NYPD officer John Scarangella.”
The Center for Constitutional Rights “has been supporting terrorists almost nonstop since the late extremist legal activist William Kunstler founded the group over 40 years ago. And here we come around again to familiar people who have been in the circles of Senator Barack Obama.
Yep this is the same group that Senator Obama is supporting against Gitmo who defended the Weather Underground of Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn Subsequently it supported the terrorists, who planted more than 100 bombs across Chicago and New York, as well as the terrorist group that blew up the historic Fraunces Tavern, killing four and wounding 54, and the bomber of a New York synagogue.
“Later, under Ratner’s leadership, it extended its support to Islamist extremists, including the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and enemy combatants held by the U.S. military at Guantanamo. See how it is coming around and it is almost to easy to conduct the dots.
If we end up trying these enemy combatants in US civilian courts as will surely be pushed by the Obama administration , we could end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on high price lawyers which is why lawyers are pushing for this, also keep in mind that democrats are the trial lawyers best friend.
Folks ;this needs to be watched very carefully as we go into the Obama administration and he begans to once again move out to the left of center where he has remained quite comfortable over the past twenty years.
This Jihadi scumbag converted to the ROP long ago and commenced his terrorist career killing Indian army soldiers in Kashmir. Why do these hacks insist on addressing the Jihadi scumbag by the name given to him by his Hindu parents ?
The thug calls himself "Abu Musa Al Hindy" after being indoctrinated in the ROP
That dude taught me Computer-Based Information Tools last summer. I swear it's the same dude. He speaks English like he's straight out of Oliver Twist.
This story's cool. Now all Ayaan Hirsi Ali needs to do is move to Britain and get caught shoplifting so she can get free 24/7 protection. Not a bad deal.
"It can be frustrating to see the stuff going on in certain cases but the moment you start bypassing these basic human rights you are actually playing into the hands of the terrorists."
Mohammed
Nonsense - it depends on your political clout and the attitude of the lawyers and MSM.
I am not a member of the BNP but they have no problem bypassing their basic human rights. As one (only one) civil liberties body has stated the methods used against the BNP amount to persecution. It is even reported the government has quietly passed legislation to deny them access to the ballot box. If they can do this to their own people without endangering basic human rights why not muslim terrorists?
Non-citizens aren't entitled to rights. I would argue that even non-taxpaying citizens should be denied all their civil rights, including the vote. "No taxation without representation" should be a two-way street. Period.
Was this guy separated from Jimmy Smits at birth?
To add to my above post: This guy is not your typical dirtbag unphotogenic jihadist in other words, and ya gotta admit, he looks a lot like Smits, who's a good actor, by the way.
Hugh, your pound/dollar translation is way low. As of today, the exchange rate is good, but for most of the past two years a pound sterling has cost at least $2.00, so $10million US is more correct.
