I wonder if Deepak Chopra has heard this report. He was on CNN International as well as Larry King last night, insisting that these attacks are the direct result of the war in Iraq (which I thought the Indian government had always opposed, but never mind).

I realize he's a famous doctor and author, but I can't fathom why the media would turn to him as an expert on these attacks, especially as I believe he's lived outside of India for decades now.

I agree with all the comments here about Chopra. I've wondered why, if the MSM wants to solicit the opinion of a famous Indian author, they haven't been interviewing Salman Rushdie, but I think we all know the answer. Rushie, unlike Chopra, is not afraid to call a spade a spade with regard to Islam and violent fanaticism. I'll be interested to see if he does appear on any of the news shows.

Yes, yes. We have all heard the solemn discussions about whether or not the "Deccan Mujahideen" is a new group, or an old one, or a made-up group, and whether or not there is a "link" to Al Qaeda. And this kind of focussing on the trivial, the nearly insignificant, goes on and on and on, when the real point is this: these are Muslims. They may be from within India. Or not. They may be from Pakistan. Or not. They may have been encouraged or funded by Arab Muslims. Or not.They may have links to Al Qaeda. Or not.

What matters is that they are Muslims attacking, attempting to kill, non-Muslims, in order to obtain their aims. And their aims are to weaken --in this particular case -- India. And they wish to weaken India in order to make the government of India appease Muslims, and meet their demands, whether in Kashmir, or in India proper, and once those demands, whatever they may be, are met, other demands from Muslims will be made, and will have to be met, for there is no end to this. The Jihad does not have an end point. There is not a finite goal, but rather an endless series of goals, with each success feeding triumphalism.

The only time this has not happened, in the past 1350 years, is when Muslims have been stopped, either by superior military power - as outside of Poitiers, or when the Ottomans were repulsed twice at the Gates of Vienna, or by the clear understanding that the Infidels were overwhelmingly more powerful, militarily and economically, that through the 19th century, and the first half of the 20th, was clear to all concerned.

That's why, when any "terrorism expert" -- some are good, some are not so good, some are idiotic -- proceeds to enjoy his time on the air discussing endlessly what this group should be called, what other groups it is linked to, what its "cause" is -- it's a case of missing-the-pointness that, at this point in the history of the world, is downright dangerous.

MSNBC had a report that one of those who had taken in the attack (and was referred to by the newscaster as a besieged militant!) had called for India to return Kashmir.

Pakistan may not have the finances but they have the knowledge and ability to move around India.
A late report I heard spoke of attempts to rescue hostages and being met with hand grenades. People talk about how heavily armed we Americans are but how many Americans stock hand grenades?

My guess is that a lot of idiotic pundits will take this as confirming their stupid idea that this attack was "all about Kashmir".

Whereas, I think it more likely that the "stolen lands" they have in mind for the Indian government "returning" would be, well--India.

This is much the same as with Israel. A lot of people assume, when "Palestinians" talk about "occupied territory", that they mean the "West Bank", or the "Golan Heights", or "Shabaa Farms", whereas what they mean for Israel to return, is, well--Israel.

And now they are establishing beachheads in the West. I have already seen one writer referring (generously, it seems) to the United States as "Dar-al-Islam". How long before this becomes common parlance? And what are the implications for us all?

We need to support Abhinav Bharat. Not only the Indian government, but the Hindutva parties seem to have forgotten who the real enemy is. You have Bajrang Dal activists in Orissa, MP and Karnataka targeting nuns, MNS people agitating for Hindus from North India to speak Marathi instead of Hindi and BJP too ignoring the problem. Abhinav Bharat, otoh, is planning to strike terror into not only Mohammedans in India, but take the war to Bangladesh as well. They need the support of all patriotic Hindus.

Moslem Jihadists who are carrying out the attack on Mumbai are carrying Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine guns of german design which are only available with US army and Al-qaieda. Deccan mujahidin is a proxy for Al-qaieda and nothing else. It requires lots of funding for a operation of this scale.
They had done a recee of the targets and knew exactly where to attack and how to go to these places,possibly local support. They started attack on landing and started shooting randomly with highjacked jeeps and cars, reason maximum damage. After which random shooting at the main Mumbai railway station reason maximum damage.

Whether it was Al-qaieda or Deccan mujahidin finally the moral of the story is ISLAM = TERROR
