And grandson of the Muslim Brotherhood's founder, also known as master of "double-speak," Tariq Ramadan, finds this "fair."
"Pope to Muslims: Religious Persecution Unacceptable," by Ethan Cole for the Christian Post, November 9:
Religious persecution is not acceptable, Pope Benedict XVI said Friday following a historic meeting between top Catholic and Muslim leaders. While the three days of Christian-Muslim dialogue focused on encouraging better relations between the world’s two largest religions, the head of the one billion-member Catholic Church stated Friday that individuals should have the right to practice their own faith without persecution.
“The discrimination and violence which even today religious people experience throughout the world and the often violent persecutions to which they are subject, represent unacceptable and unjustifiable acts, all the more grave and deplorable when they are carried out in the name of God” the pontiff said, according to BBC.
Tariq Ramadan, a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford who participated in the summit, said he thought Benedict’s points were “fair.”
“No Muslim should avoid speaking about this,” he said, according to Religion News Service...
Let´s see if the "master" is sincere in this or if this is just a way to say that westerners must stop persecution of muslims. For what is the big agenda today, if not that the so called islamophobia is the great sin of the kuffar? And what is the subject "no muslim should avoid speaking about"? Muslims subjecting christians and other minorities to religious persecusion or muslim victim-status-in-the-west-pedeling?
Since the quote of Ramadan didn´t specify what he meant by "fair" or what the muslims should speak about, one could just guess using his past words. So, should we hold our breath?
“'The discrimination and violence which even today religious people experience throughout the world and the often violent persecutions to which they are subject, represent unacceptable and unjustifiable acts, all the more grave and deplorable when they are carried out in the name of God,'” the pontiff said.
Substitute “Christians” for “religious people” above and “Allah” for “God,” and I would applaud the Pope's statement.
"A final declaration was issued from the meeting, which renounces 'any oppression, aggressive violence and terrorism, especially that committed in the name of religion,' and affirms respect for 'choices in matters of conscience and religion.'"
Let's parse this, shall we? "Oppression" - Who's being oppressed? Why, the Palestinians, of course. "Aggressive violence" - What about defensive violence? You know, like defensive jihad? I guess that's okay. "Terrorism" - Who's committing terrorist acts? Why, Great Satan and Little Satan, of course, because Muslims don't commit terrorism, they just seek justice. "Affirms respect for choices in matters of religion" - In other words, we in the West must respect and accommodate the religious "choices" of Islam such as prayer rooms, foot baths, prayer breaks, no alcohol or pork, separation of sexes, headscarves, minarets, the call to prayer broadcast over loudspeakers, sharia, etc.
And then we get to this: "The document also denounces 'any form of mockery or ridicule' of founding figures and symbols considered sacred by religious minorities."
Ah, here we have it, the tip of the spear of Islam's assault on our free speech - no criticism of Islam's sacred figures and symbols.
No wonder T. Ramadan calls this fair.
BigShaker DOES know how to parse!!
Well, since Islam is not a religion, I find this to be "fair" as well.
"Tariq Ramadan, a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford who participated in the summit, said he thought Benedict’s points were “fair.”"
"Fair" as long as Benedict's point are a double-edged sword that Tariq Ramadan can use to defend Islam as well.
I'm waiting for the day when a Pope can issue a bold pronouncement that Tariq Ramadan finds utterly "UNfair".
"Pope to Muslims: Religious Persecution Unacceptable,"
That is fine but in the next sentence the Pope should have insisted that all the surahs, and hadiths that call for violence against non-Muslims must be removed. And of course that is never going to happen because the words of Mohammed are considered pure and cannot be changed. So the point the Pope is making is virtually irrelevant in the Islamic World whether Ideal for the efforts of peace or not.
The Muslim believes his religion is superior to all other religious beliefs,he believes that the Christian Bible was corrupted by the Jews, and no matter what the Pope says Muslims will go on with their jihads.
This is all window dressing without the window, and unfortunatly it is absurd to think otherwise.
Tariq Ramadan, a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford who participated in the summit, said he thought Benedict’s points were “fair.”
Tariq Ramadan is either lying or an apostate who rejects the commands of Allah, the Koranic God.
The Infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.
-- God, blathering Jihadi hate-drivel in Koran 8:59
We smote (the Infidels) and they scattered. The impious met death. They became fuel for Hell. All who aren't Muslims must go there. It will consume them while the Stoker (Allah) increases the heat. They had called Mohammed a liar.
-- Ishaq 344
Hey Mohammed: You're a liar. Stoker, you're a liar too.
Funny, I don't feel any heat. Will Allah turn up the hate-heat on me?
Yes il Papa needs to get a little more specific.
Whose persecution of whom is unacceptable to whom?
Near as I can tell mohammedan persecution of everybody else is perfectly acceptable to most mohammedans.
============
How about a little old fashioned American practicality? How about saying that mohammedan persecution of everybody else is unacceptable to everybody else?
And, being as he is the Pope and all, how about saying that mohammedan persecution of Christians is unacceptable to the free world, to Christendom, to the church and to himself specifically?
Or does the Pope no longer speak for the church?
Tariq Ramadan: "No Muslim should avoid speaking about this”
Before, or after, they'e killed the dirty kuffir?
"Persecution is worse than slaughter."
That means it is okay for Muslims to slaughter anyone who they think is persecuting them.
Not off to a good start.........
The pope is waffling. He's supposed to be a scholar and a man of principle. Why doesn't he act like one and come out with a clear statement condemning that which he knows is worthy of condemnation, in clear language stripped of ambiguity?
I wonder, before the Islamic delegation traveled to Rome did they by chance review the story of Mehmet II's conversion of St. Sophie's to Hagia Sophia to get some ideas on renovation in preparation for the day they see coming when Rome falls? In other words, did they measure curtains for St. Peter's?
