In my book Stealth Jihad I discuss Muslim Brotherhood efforts to insinuate Islamic law, bit-by-bit and piece-by-piece, into the United States, and to foster acceptance of the idea that American law must give way whenever Islamic law contradicts it. Groups that are assumed to be "moderate" are fronting this effort -- but now one Senator is pushing back.
"Senator Pushes DOJ on Islamists," from IPT News, November 19 (thanks to Rosanne):
The Department of Justice (DOJ) should cut off outreach efforts with organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood or other Islamist extremist groups, a report from a ranking Senate subcommittee member recommends."Justice Denied: Waste & Mismanagement at the Department of Justice," is an 86-page report issued in October by the office of U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), the ranking Republican on the Senate Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security. [...]
But just as important is its detailing of DOJ outreach with questionable Islamist organizations, including two which are unindicted co-conspirators in a major Hamas support investigation. Those efforts should stop, the report said:
"It is the legal right and obligation of DOJ to bar, withhold or rescind funding for or collaboration with any entities that do not advance the mission of the Department, which is the security and stability of the United States, including its culture, its people, and its form of government."[...]Coburn has been focused on issues of Islamist outreach. In July, he and Arizona U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl wrote to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, asking that State set a deadline for cutting off funding to organizations with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The letter also asked that procedures be created to prevent future funding of such groups.
In 2007, Coburn pushed an amendment to the FY 2008 Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill which barred DOJ from underwriting any conferences with organizations identified "as an unindicted co-conspirator by the federal government in any criminal prosecution." The Senate passed the provision but when the Senate and House of Representatives met to create one final bill, it was taken out.
Why? And by whom?
The Coburn report on DOJ singles out the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Both are unindicted co-conspirators in the Hamas support trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) and five former officials. CAIR and ISNA appear in prosecution exhibits involving the Palestine Committee, a group created by the Muslim Brotherhood to help Hamas. CAIR actually is listed as a committee member, as are the group's co-founders Nihad Awad and Omar Ahmad. ISNA is listed among friendly organizations. The report notes what it calls an "alarming" agenda for the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S. It was written by another Palestine Committee member, Mohamed Akram, in 1991 in a document called "the General Strategic Goal for the Group In North America." In the memo, Akram defined the group's role in America as "a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."...
Read it all.
There have to be some Democrats pushing this as well. There was no doubt, during the Cold War, that Democrats could be as forceful as Republicans, and sometimes -- see Senator Henry Jackson -- more so, in dealing with the Soviet Union. It is not good, it is harmful, for Democrats not to grasp or at least seem not to grasp, or not want to grasp, not to want to go near, the ideology of Islam. This is a great and grievous error.
Why - after reading the headline - was I absolutely certain that the Senator in question was a Republican? Anyway, here's to Tom Coburn.
My latest wet dream is that Obama, for all his Liberal pretensions, turns out to be a hawk on all things Islam.
Talk about your wild fantasies!
The vast majority of Democrats have gone soft in the head, Hugh. This started in the Sixties, as I posted elsewhere today at JW. Yes, the vast majority of Republicans also don't understand Islam but what they do get right is not making excuses for Muslim radicals who have nothing but ill intent towards Western and American interests. That's the difference between the parties now, with few exceptions. Also, it should be taken into consideration that Muslims here in America and around the world look more favorably upon the Democrats than they do Republicans, which in itself should function as an indication that Republicans are ahead of Democrats on the issue of possible harm emanating from the Islamic world. Hopefully many Democrats will eventually be shocked into reality but Cornelius is even more doubtful of this than I am and he could be correct. Right now, the Democratic Party is somnambulant.
Cornelius oh l guess you can dream on about Democrats, but liberals are liberals first, and they need to not be judgemental about muslims. l hear this all time from my liberal family members, aka teachers, social worker types.
At the same time as they push their treasonous agenda, they talk about the need for "protection". Far worse than the Mafia, they demand, and get, protection, and sponsorship, and all manner of help. How good to see someone in government pushing back!

Whaddyaknow? The IU-Bloomington Muslim Student Union mysteriously removed the link to ISNA on their webpage. They also removed the link to the MSA-USC texts. I asked the President and the Provost to do have them do both back in August. They never responded. They just suddenly got it done. Interesting. Now they just have to de-fund and ban them.
This war is getting closer.
While they are outreaching can the they scratch my XXX as well? DOJ did you ever know your tasking under US law? Is foggy bottom myopic caput culus trepide that contagious? One wonders...
Lan astalem,
GoingThere
this doesnt have to do with this but mr. spencer was on dennis miller yesterday and said the dow would hit 6000. the very next day it goes below 8000. man why doesnt he say dow will hit 25,000?
Any jihadwatchers here from Oklahoma?
If so: appreciative emails, letters and phone calls to Sen. Tom Coburn would be in order.
Do it even if you're not from Oklahoma; but I'm sure he'd particularly appreciate support from people within his home state.
Politicians are people. They like positive strokes. If they're screwing up their courage to enter a minefield, they're more likely to do it if they know they've got a nice big cheer squad.
I love this kind of talk...
"It is the legal right and obligation of DOJ to bar, withhold or rescind funding for or collaboration with any entities that do not advance the mission of the Department, which is the security and stability of the United States, including its culture, its people, and its form of government."
I hate this kind of talk...

Yes, why and by whom????
You won't find Democrats taking the position Sen. Coburn has.
They aren't the same kind of Democrats that existed during FDR's tenure(white working class, factory workers, farmers, etc).
Todays Democrats are more likely to surrender to OBL and violent Imans demands and punish those Americans who stand up to Muslim terrorism and intimidation.
Just criticise Islamic violence on a Democratic website and see the response you get.
They push 'seperation of church and state' one way and advance it the other way.
And I hate using the term 'church' when comparing religions with the cult of islam.
Todays Democrats are more likely to surrender to OBL and violent Imans demands and punish those Americans who stand up to Muslim terrorism and intimidation.

That's what's going on now, it will get worse under Prophet Elect Obama.
About damn time I say! Push them all the way back to the middle east!If we can't have it there, then they can't have it here!
Support Coburn, encourage others!
I wrote them and I don't live in OK.

Thanks guys for the contact info, just left him an e-mail. While I was there, I read his web site - DAMN! This is the guy who should be running for president!
Note he said he would only serve three house terms (and he did) and he promised to serve no more than two senate terms. Loved his attempts (both successful and unsuccessful) to cut fat - makes you wonder why some of his failed efforts were not supported by others....
Could there really be an honest man (who "gets it" about our little problem) in Congress?
Coburn in 2012?
The article mentions nothing about the MSA.
I think that the MSA is the most insidious of the groups that directly affect/brainwash our young adults. Anti-semitism is 'cool' and being a muslim or at least appeasing them/being an apologist for them is also 'cool' these days. gag! No one teaches history anymore if they did they would be banning this group FIRST!
If we allow them a few more decades in our colleges as we have let the left rule our colleges for more than 50 years - Obama will be mild compared to what we will be getting 'down the road a bit'.
It's not the MSAs that are ruining our universities. It's the being whored-out to Saudis and having Marxist, America-hating, far-leftist professors who are more interested in indoctrination and towing the prostitute line than with education. The MSAa are offensive because my tuition and tax dolars go to fund HAMAS.
