Of course, as for those of non-Muslim countries, he does not say one way or the other. But the Islamic tradition regarding the property of unbelievers is clear:
"I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform a that, then they save their lives an property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah" (Sahih Bukhari 1.2.24).
And:
"If you embrace Islam, you will be safe. You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I want to expel you from this land. So, if anyone amongst you owns some property, he is permitted to sell it, otherwise you should know that the Earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle" (Sahih Bukhari 4.53.392).
In addition, this story lends credence to the idea that jihadists' pledges to fight piracy will involve a great deal of hair-splitting about when piracy is "really" piracy, not unlike apologists' hair-splitting with respect to when jihad is "really" jihad.
"Islamists say they'll fight Somali pirates," by Mohamed Sheikh Nor for the Associated Press, November 21:
MOGADISHU, Somalia – A radical Islamic group in Somalia said Friday it will fight the pirates holding a Saudi supertanker loaded with $100 million worth of crude oil.
Abdelghafar Musa, a fighter with al-Shabab who claims to speak on behalf of all Islamic fighters in the Horn of Africa nation, said ships belonging to Muslim countries should not be seized.
"We are really sorry to hear that the Saudi ship has been held in Somalia. We will fight them (the pirates)," Musa told AP Television News.
In the past two weeks, Somalia's increasingly brazen pirates have seized eight vessels including the huge Saudi supertanker. Several hundred crew are now in the hands of Somali pirates. The pirates dock the hijacked ships near the eastern and southern Somali coast and negotiate for ransom.
Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said Friday that the Saudi government was not negotiating with pirates and would not do so, but that what the ship's owners did was up to them. [...]
"We are really sorry to hear that the Saudi ship has been held in Somalia."
From the article.
There are several issues here: (1) who owns (has the "pink slip" to) the tanker? (2) under what nation's flag is it flying? (3) what's the nationality of the crew, and under which nation are they licensed for maritime operations? (4) who owns the cargo? (5) who insures the cargo? Or would making such distinctions just confuse the jihadists? (Ask the same questions about a camel and you see the point.)
No no no, choke off the supply of oil coming from middle eastern countries you idiots. Your Muslim brothers are selling that oil to the great and lesser Satans. The kafir are using that oil to defame Allah, Allah is GRrreat, and his prophet Muhammad, there can be only one! Make the oil stop, brothers!
C-: All joking aside if a person really thinks about why Bush took us into the middle east it might possibly be one the bravest and personally damning things a US president has ever done. History will not be kind to him that is certain. I believe he and our armed forces really did take one for the team...now if we can just keep from throwing their sacrifice away.
Lan astalem,
GoingThere
The Somali Jihadists will do nothing to stop sea piracy by other Muslims. All Bark and NO bite...meant to fall upon hopeful dhimmi ears..
Either change the sea routes to avoid Somalia and its neighbors or else post riflemen to shoot any and all boats that approach large tankers or cargo ships.
In a pinch, why not just hang a Muslim country's flag?
Going There, the last Republican President to have been treated kindly, or even fairly, by history is Abraham Lincoln, and that's only because the Dems have fraudulently appropriated the Civil Rights movement as their own, now that's it's over. Reagan fixed the economy after the Crash of '87 but nobody's talking about how his policies could save us now, with the exception of Cavuto, who actually argued the same back in the day (he pulled up the video today of a much younger him making the case for Reagan's tax cuts). Bush did the right thing. I will tell my children about it. I will also tell them the lessons we leared from our little Middle East excursion, namely that there is no point in trying to ingratiate oneself with people who pray five times a day that you will die and for whom despotism, decadence, and backwardness are something to aspire to. In fact, Reagan's greatest failure was not doing what Bush did, since he caved to terrorists and pulled us out of Lebanon, which is the one thing for which I will never forgive him.
PMK
Just hang Somalia's flag - it's not Islamic, but an yellow star on a blue background. Let them think it's one of their own, or a fellow pirate vehicle.
In Somalia looks like there is only one religulus relic: MONEY!
Saudi-Arabia is apostate:
http://salafiyyah-jadeedah.tripod.com/Governments/Verdict_Saudi_Regime.htm
[b][c] It is a racist, nationalist regime that allies or opposes on the basis of relation with the nation. It divides rights and obligations among the slaves of Allah on the basis of relation with the Saudi nation and its borders, and not on the basis of relation with the 'Aqidah and the religion... in the same manner as any other Arab regime.
And this is clear Kufr (Kufr Bawah) as the Saudi Permanent Committee (al-Lajnah ad-Da'imah) for Ifta' have themselves said in one of their Fatawa: "Whoever does not distinguish between the Jews and the Christians and the other infidels and between the Muslims except by nationality, and makes all of their rulings equal, then he is a Kafir."
And they were correct in that, however our question to these esteemed ones is this: Is not the Saudi regime like this? Is it other than what you have described? Is it not that the Kafir, Zindeeq (heretic) Saudi – because of his nationality and his connection with the Saudi state – enjoys certain rights, favours, and privileges that "Shaykhul-Islam" from outside Sa'udiyyah does not?
The problem of single unmarried women has reached its peak, yet along with that – according to the law – the Saudi woman is not allowed to be married to a man with whose religion and character she is pleased if he does not belong to the borders of the Saudi nation... and likewise, the Saudi man is not allowed to marry outside Sa'udiyyah until he has reached a certain advanced age, along with fulfilling certain conditions, and after receiving special royal permission, for which Allah has not sent down any authority... the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alayhi wa-sallam) spoke truly when he said: "If you do not (marry), there will be Fitnah and widespread evil in the earth."
