PARIS: Armed men ambushed a convoy in Somalia on Wednesday, taking four European aid workers and two Kenyans hostage, officials said.French aid group Action Against Hunger said the attack took place in the town of Dhusamareb, about 360 miles (580 kilometers) north of the capital, Mogadishu, when the six were going to an airport to board a chartered plane bound for Nairobi, Kenya.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said two Kenyan pilots and four aid workers — two French citizens, one Belgian and a Bulgarian — were kidnapped. It said no one was hurt and there had been no contact with the kidnappers so far.
Action Against Hunger said the two Kenyans were drivers, not pilots.
The group has 14 foreign staffers and 220 local employees in Somalia working on projects to promote health and access to clean water, according to its Web site.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the abductions and demanded the immediate release of those captured.
"He is deeply concerned about the worsening trend of killings and abductions of aid workers in Somalia," U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas said at U.N. headquarters in New York.
Foreigners, journalists and aid workers are frequently abducted for ransom in Somalia. The country has not had an effective central government since 1991, and has been left in the grip of violence and anarchy.

Answer: Yeah. There's such groups in Afghanistan, the Paki North West badlands, certain parts of Philippines, certain parts of Sudan... Dar-ul-Islam y'know. That's what it all boils down to in the end, when the central authority is weak, the local warlords become powerful, the areas under them have little or no resources. That's when good ol' Mo's examples come in handy. Nice to know that you can take hostages, rob travelers and murder AND be full of piety at the same time.
Maybe that's the reason so many criminals are going in for conversion in such a big way. Imams in jails are said to be a busy lot.
When will we learn that we are making the situation far worse for people in Africa? It would be best to quit propping up all these failures and let nature and reality take their courses.

Time and time again when aid workers went to cesspools like Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen they've been murdered, raped, beaten and kidnapped by devout Muslims merely because they were infidels.
Women aid workers suffer the worst.
The best thing aid workers can do is help people in non-Islamic regions where threat of Islam is minimal.
As for the Islamic hellpits like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somali, etc. Let them rot.
Keep foreign aid workers out. If they need food or water, airlift it and get out ASAP.

Charity begins at home. Aren't there any starving people in France? If there are, why feed the dirtbags, instead?
Yes, my sentiments are the very same for my own country. People are starving in America. If some group is determined to spend some money to feed the hungry, there are plenty of people right here, who would say: "thank you".
It's a disgrace to favor ingrates at the expense of the poor in one's own land.
