Taliban stops executing people long enough to ask UN to block executions of Taliban prisoners

Jihadist hypocrisy alert. "Taliban urge world to block Afghan executions," from Reuters, November 13:

KABUL, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Afghanistan's Taliban, notorious for summary public executions, urged the United Nations on Thursday to press the Afghan government to stop executing prisoners on death row, citing concern about fair trials.

Afghanistan resumed executions this week after a break of more than a year, with three Taliban sentenced for deadly attacks among nine people put to death in the past few days.

Those executions followed a public outcry over rising crime.

About 120 other people have been sentenced to death and their fate rests with President Hamid Karzai, who has to approve any execution order.

The United Nations and European Union have called on Karzai to halt the executions, citing concern about the standards of judicial fairness.

The United Nations says Afghanistan's law enforcement and judicial systems fall far short of internationally accepted standards.

The Taliban leadership council said it too was worried about fair trials.

"We strongly request the U.N., the EU, the Red Cross and human rights groups to earnestly prevent this barbaric act," the Taliban said in a statement on their website, accusing Karzai's government of corruption.

The Taliban, fighting to overthrow Karzai's pro-Western government, have executed dozens of captured soldiers and civilians since U.S.-led forces ousted the militant Islamist movement in 2001....

The Taliban accuses others of barbarism?

You can't make this stuff up!

It's a moratorium on killing! Tariq Ramadan should be pleased then.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Said the Taliban, "...to earnestly prevent this barbaric act..."

Looks like Baghdad Bob found work in PR for the Taliban?

Priceless.

"We strongly request the U.N., the EU, the Red Cross and human rights groups to earnestly prevent this barbaric act," the Taliban said in a statement on their website, accusing Karzai's government of corruption.
..........................

Yes, because the Taliban's esteem for the UN, the EU, and the International Red Cross are so well known...

the Taliban said in a statement on their website, accusing Karzai's government of corruption.

Well they got something right

The Taliban leadership council said it too was worried about fair trials.

eh?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You couldn't make that shit up if you tried.

We strongly request the U.N., the EU, the Red Cross and human rights groups to earnestly prevent this barbaric act," the Taliban said in a statement on their website, accusing Karzai's government of corruption.

Well, if this exercise in abject hypocrisy doesn't penetrate the haze, I guess nothing will. The Taliban butchers think nothing of brutally executing innocent women for "moral" crimes, forcing their children and families to witness the macabre events, and now feign opposition to the death penalty when some of their fellow savages are about to pay for their inhuman crimes. Every member of the Taliban sentenced to death should die---the sooner the better. They should all be beheaded at a sports stadium, with the international media on hand to gasp in horror. The merciless deserve no mercy.

Where are the U.N., Red Cross, and human rights groups when Taliban scum are doing allah's dirty work? Karzai's government might well be corrupt, but its corruption does not compare to the Satanic Taliban agenda.

There are thousands of such examples, but only a few captured on film.

I can't believe nobody has said it...

"Pot, meet Kettle...."

BTW, does anyone know where Baghdad Bob is these days?

To resolve this issue, Karzai just needs to announce that all of the condemned have converted to Christianity, causing the Taliban to advocate swift execution. Either that or their heads will explode trying to wrap their turbans around the irony.

I heard he applied for the job of Obamas press secretary...

The Taliban has its own judicial process: summary execution. The Taliban does not express concerns about the unfairness of this. But it expresses concerns about the unfairness of the government judicial system, where the accused has a fair trial with representation by counsel, and a right to an appeal. A comparison of the government's capital crimes system and the Taliban's leaves no doubt that the Taliban is a barbaric thugocracy, and that its members, when convicted of capital crimes, deserve no mercy. A humane execution is too good for them, but that's what they'll get.

The Taliban should also chair the UN human rights commission. Just to make the lunacy official.

I hear there's an "interfaith dialog conference" going on in - - SOWdi Barbaria.

You can't make this stuff up, kids!

Islam is the epitome of evil not even Lucifer can match the horrors of Islam. Islam sends chills and disgust at the same time through your spine. It's history as well as now of violence, oppression, lies, murder, carnage, rape and destruction is nauseatingly sick. It is unbearable how Islam has destroyed beautiful art, ancient temples, churches, synagogues and human creativity from great civilizations and continues to do so now.

Fair trials? You mean like the one the Taliban gave former president Najibullah in 1996? (Hint: he got somewhat less due process than Nicolae Ceauşescu got. Not that I'm weeping too many tears for either him or Ceauşescu.)

I'm guessing the Taliban thinks the UN isn't going to remember, or care, that they violated the diplomatic immunity of the UN compound in order to grab Najibullah.
