Headline in the Greek newspaper Avriani, from ana-mpa.org (thanks to James):
"The anticipated victory of Obama in US elections signals ...the end of the Jewish domination - Everything changes in USA and we hope that it will be more democratic and humane".
So, what? What do Greeks know about the US? Probably as much as I know about Greece.
Yeah, we're running the show. That's why the MSM (which we of course control) won't bring up Hussein Obama's roll call of advisors who have devoted their entire careers to Israeli genocide. That's why getting them to talk about all his connections to terrorists and their supporters keeps getting swept under the rug. We also control the banks, while Israel has to beg Switzerland not to do business with Iran. Don't you wish we controlled the banks! The mortage crisis would have been avoided because we understand simple math.

Two words. George Soros.
We can expect a change in policy, but it won't be dramatic, at least at first. Initially, Obama will make overtures to the Arabs while simultaneously mollifying Israel. Eventually, he will begin a major diplomatic push for an overall settlement that strips Israel of the West Bank and the Golan.
Israel will either go along, jeopardizing their security to confer the mantles of international statesman and peacemaker upon Obama, or they will resist and suffer the consequences...which will include public admonitions from the State Dept for torpedoing the peace process and eventually, reductions (and perhaps termination) in aid.
I'm convinced that the coming Obama administration will - particularly if it serves two terms - irrevocably transform the US-Israeli relationship. If I were a member of the Israeli elite, I would begin preparing my country for a future that doesn't include America's support.
Awake,
I believe Soros is of Hungarian origin.
This sounds like projection on the part of some Greek antisemite to me. Over at the Jerusalem Post http://www.jpost.com there is a different view, where it is pointed out that a Democratic sweep in the elections would likely result in an increase in the number of Jews in Congress. Also, speculation that Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel would become White House chief of staff. Does anyone know anything about Emanuel?
I'm convinced that the coming Obama administration will - particularly if it serves two terms -
Cornelius
You give Obama a lot more credit than I do...I predict in one year everyone will either be sick of him, or terrified by him, or both...
But it could go the way you described.
I think it would be out of character that Obama, especially if surrounded by radical advisors, will want to take the slow path on most anything.
The whole bunch of them are power starved, and once they get it, they probably won't contain it very well...
'Ruthless, Rapid Repair of 'Inequities', may be the new motto and operating system...
I believe Soros is of Hungarian origin.

Indeed. That was a poor assumption on my part. Thanks for the clarification.
"Eventually, he will begin a major diplomatic push for an overall settlement that strips Israel of the West Bank and the Golan."
Not unless Olmert beats him to it. Idiot.
That parts of the Greek press, as of the press of many other countries, have shown disturbing and open antisemitism has been known for some time, but it is unclear to me why this particular example should be posted here. Antisemitism is a pathological condition from which, in any given country, from forme fruste to virulent, roughly 10% of the population may suffer. Depending on how intelligent and far-reaching the attempts to immunize people against it, or on other factors that may contribute to an increase, or diminish its appeal, that number can go up or down.
Antisemitism may be on the rise in Western Europe, in some places, as part of a way to deflect a general anxiety prompted by the appearance of Islam in the European midst (there have in Athens been fights over mosque building), The antisemitism reflected in this article's headline and presumably in its text may have something to do with that, but for a long time the left in Greece has taken a steady "third-world" line about the "Palestinians" as victims (and not as the shock troops of Lesser Jihad that is even now threatening Greece, and Western Europe, though through other means) and of course about the perfidy of Israel, even as Greece has, for economc gain, courted Arab money.
I still question whether this item is, as Elaine in "Seinfeld" might say, at this site devoted to news more immediately relevant to Islam (Jihad Watch, Dhimmi Watch), post-worthy.
Hugh:
Of course it's post-worthy, given that the jihad against Israel is the most important jihad from the standpoint of the Iranians and other jihadists around the world, and American support for Israel is one of the foremost impediments to the ultimate success of that jihad.
Yours
Robert
Cornelius AND Awake. GEORGE SOROS IS A Hungarian Jew and a hard core marxist.
Please google Frankfurt School, Herbert Marcuse and go from there.
DUH SWAMI: "You give Obama a lot more credit than I do...I predict in one year everyone will either be sick of him, or terrified by him, or both..."
RESPONSE: We'll see. Personally, I think he's just so much fluff...and what substance he possesses is inimical to the well-being of America. On the other hand, those who previously underestimated him must now be scratching their head.
Hugh, Judeophobia affects more than 10% of the population in every country, including Israel, what with the 15% Arab population and the Jewicidal Jews (not 'self-hating!'). It's probably more like 30-40% in France and England, and 100% throughout the Muslim world, even those nations with significant Christian populations. Remember Brigitte Gabriel's rundown of the Jew-hatred in which she was indoctrinated in Christian Lebanon, in Christian day schools. It's just normalized. Judeophobic people always fail, though. Always. They fail because whatever good aspects they may have, they hate them. If they're hard-working, self-determined, intelligent, then they hate that about themselves. If their nations are self-sustaining, progressive, upwardly mobile, and noble, then they hate that. Judeophobia ties together the lowest common denominator in every society, from Muslims to ghetto blacks (and not the ones who make something of themselves, the Thomas Sowells or the Larry Elders of this world, but the ones who end up in prison or dead from a gunshot wound at 25, leaving 6 kids behind) to academicommies (evil idiots with degrees who pimp themselves to Saudis), to plain old Leftist losers who thrive on the same basic deathwish as the Muslims with whom they ally themselves. I just think your 10% estimate is really low. You should hear the kind of stuff Esther from Islam in Europe goes through every day. It's like UC Irvine everywhere she goes, except the Christians tell her that she killed Jesus.
If the past is any indication to the kinds of hard-core friends Obama will attract and surround himself with -- then we definitey need to be concerned about his future friends & connections. Obama is a regular Hard-Core-Magnet.
"...except the Christians tell her that she killed Jesus."
Not all Christians make such hurtful and ignorant statements, because the fact of the matter is, Jesus laid down His own life.
1 John 3:16: "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us."

Understood, but he is not Greek as I erroneously stated.
I'm not sure how George Soros came into the discussion, but people should find out about the way he acted in the closing months of World War II in Hungary.
He had the chance to sit it out in relative safety but chose to do otherwise instead.
I don't think he was ever held to account for his actions either.
I realize this, Champ. I was talking about Judeophobic sentiments in Europe, where it's just out of control, except in Italy, where not supporting Israel is tantamount to sedition. I'm Jewish and I went to Catholic school for four years and I was never subjected to any sort of Judeophobic discrimination until I decided to surround myself with a bunch of Godless and Allah-worshipping academicommies at Indiana University. I was never exposed to that when I lived in Texas either, not even in academia. It just happens wherever rabid Leftism and Islam abound. Judeophobia, despite the history of the Inquisition, is a very un-Christian phenomenon. I've always said that the Christian concensus is our best hope against jihad and in defense of Israel. Real Christians have always been very kind to Jews.
Celsius, care to expand on Soros' actions in the closing months of WWII in Hungary? To what account should he be held, and why?
Soros is only loyal to the Kleptocracy of Soros.
jdamn - I agree with you; and if anyone who calls themselves a Christian turns around and makes anti-semetic / anti-Israeli remarks, then I'm sorry, but that person is not a true follower of Christ and they should NOT call themselves a Christian -- and I would even part company with that person. I am a strong supporter of Israel, and I even have an Israeli & American flags mounted alongside one another on my desk in my home office. I know it isn't much, but I will always be a friend to the Jew, and a supporter of Israel. Go Israel!
"except the Christians tell her that she killed Jesus".
Christians are not instructed by their scriptures to kill people and that is a fundamental difference. If I were to move to Israel as a Christian I bet I would hear all kinds of derogatory comments about Christians.
Hundred of New Tesatments torched in Israel.

Oh the multiculturalism......all these different ideas and the fights that come from them.
The more mutlicultural -- the more conflict.
Actually DTL, Israel absorbed lots of Palestinian Christians who were being persecuted by the Muslims, just like they flew in thousands of Cambodians to save them from the Kmer Rouge. They've always been very respectful of Christianity's claims to Jerusalem too, which are questionable, since any Christian structures there were formerly Jewish.
Good people always stand up for what's right, Champ. It just so happens that many good people naturally gravitate toward Christianity or come from a Christian tradition because their values fall in line with it and because Christianity teaches good values. Same with Jews, Hindus, and with Buddhists and many atheists and agnostics, too. I actually feel bad for having written 'Godless' above, since I've known many fantastic atheists who possessed humanist values, abided by the Golden Rule, and supported Israel. Even Islam produces good people. It's just that they usually either deny everything about Islam or they leave it altogether.
Cornelius RESPONSE: We'll see.
That's the scary part...anticipation is often worse than the reality...
I don´t know if my comment is post-worthy, or if anyone will read it, but I post it anyhow
first things first: Mr. Spencer is to my opinion right, as always: the post is post-worthy,as it gives a hint of the great effect of arab-muhammedan propaganda in the greek, or any given, "progressive" right-center-left european mind.
I remember buying the very first edition of this paper, Avriani, some, actually many, years ago. I remember buying it as a joke. Because of its title: Αυριανή=Τοmorrow´s (newsparer)I sincerely had thought it was some kind of a joke. I mean how can any newspaper be tomorrow´s, yesterday´s yes, today´s could be, if they print it fast enough, but tomoron´s, come on.
Jokes aside.
The mostly illegal and by the day augmenting presence of mohammedans in Greece constitutes a major, but not widely known, burden for the Greek tax-payer. So I don´t think it is because of a general economic gain , as Mr. Fitzgerald suggests, that people here in Greece support the muhammedans, who had the Christians in the Balkans and Asia Minor subjugated in many hundreds years,(and still hold them subjugated in places such as Constantinople, Imbros, Cyprus, Northern Epirus, and Asia Minor).
To my opinion an antisemite sentiment that is to be found in all layers of the greek society, with the only exception the ecclesiastical part of it, is the unfortunate outcome of an extremely dangerous mixture of pure ignorance and a christian urge to always hold with the weaker part, which in this case is supposedly the so-called "palestinians".
This paper - I would never call it a news-paper, as it almost exclusively publishes slander, a friend of mine, who has sued them is still suffering from damages caused by this paper - is known for expressing the ignoramuses of the modern Greek State.
Now is mostly anti-israeli mostly because Israel has chosen to play it dhimmi and maintains tight ties with the greek enemy par excellence "secular" Turkey.
Those of us who know something about the history of the Jewish people and understand the importance of the continued existence of the State of Israel in the war against submission/islam we are very supportive of Israel.
By the way, my children love to learn modern Hebrew, we love modern Hebrew songs (as it´s all greek to me) and for me there is no other place on earth than Israel that I long to come to.
What will they do when the election is over and Obama loses. Will they blame the Jews, "Evangelical" Christians or Bush and the "neocons"? Reports are that turnout is massive. The latest news is that 75% of registered voters in Virginia are expected to vote. That's 75% in "redstate" Virginia.Obama and his allies on the left and the biased media have succeeded in energizing the Republican base.Something I'm sure they never expected.
I read some polling data that indicated that Jews, by a small majority, are actually supporting Obama. They are making the same mistake as all of the rest of the American people -- putting their trust in someone who sounds and looks really good, but who has never been fully vetted. Nobody in the media has ever sat down with Obama and asked him probing questions about his relationships and background. Coverage has all been superficial and biased one way or another, so that nobody believes anything except what they want to hear. The people will elect their candidate, and then will be punished for their decision.
Karl2,
If Jews are supporting Obama by a "small" majority that is a very bad sign for Obama. The Dems usually get over 70% of the Jewish vote. Reagan managed to get a higher then expected percentage of the Jewish vote which Carter blamed for his defeat. If McCain is actually getting almost 50% of the Jewish vote Obama is going down.
Roxane, they're going to call it 'voter fraud.' I'm telling you, the Left has learned the art of ridiculously obvious projection from the Muhammedans. That's what my sister is saying. I could tell her that Obama grew a tail and horns and ate babies live on FOX News, send her the YouTube link, and she would still vote for him. She told me about her voter fraud conspiracy theory, no less, the very day I sent her the YOuTube link with the Jack Justice story. I spent the whole weekend crying over than and it didn't even phase her. The Left makes sociopaths out of formerly decent people. It's the Kool-Aid. And, guess who's in charge of the FEC? JIMMY CARTER!!!
Last week there was a young man handing out BH Obama bumper stickers in front of a local store here in Southern California.
In order to see what his response would be, I said to him, "You know the best thing about Obama?...He's gonna take care of the damn Jews!"
The Obama supporter answered "That's right, I can't wait!"
Just an anecdotal story, but illustrative I believe.
Roxane,
BH Obama isn't going to lose. He's at 93 on the Intrade.com futures market as I write. That's 93-7, and this is not a poll.
We need to be realistic about what is happening.
Palamas,
Being a greek I am very aware of the anti-semitic nature of the Greeks, who themselves are a very changed people after the Ottoman occupation, and very nationalistic having very little to hang onto outside of tourism and things of the Ancient World.
The reality has been best demonstrated by Thomas Sowell, who in his books (among them Black Rednecks and White Liberals) offers a treatment of the subject: it is the Middle Man Minority that is subject to the great demonization and hate from the mainstream outer culture due to his indispensability as well as productivity. Quickly, these cultures were the Lebanese in North Africa and the Armenians in Turkey, obviously the Jews everywhere they went. Willing to work all hours of the day and be productive sellers at jobs others weren't willing to do, they were outcasts for making money the hard way while not being looked at as the same as others in the immediate culture. The Armenians were part of the biggest genocide (%-wise) and still others who aren't as politically intertwined as the Jews don't get the headlines. But they indeed have all these things in common.
Sowell was asked by a Jewish man what the Jews could do to be liked by more people.
Thomas smiled, looked at him and said, "Fail."
Real people (and real christians) know that ethnicity and group mentality obscures the illumination that one is given. Let us all be aware of this and constantly keep ourselves in check, knowing that we must fight hard against the passions of evolutionary biology and barbaric instinct. Not many (can) do it, it therefore should be something for which we strive (funny I used the word strive to end my post on "JihadWatch" haha).
July 4, 1776: Independence Day, the birth of the USA.
November 4, 2008: Will this be looked back upon as the date we threw it all away?
I hope Obama is just another Democrat, but my careful reading regarding his associations tells me that when election results there will be celebrations by thugs and Islamists and people who hate the USA throughout the world, and Osama bin Laden will be rewarded with the humiliation he wanted to serve on those who tried to stand up to his aggression and attempt to impose Islamic domination on the West. We will all be punished for this mistake.
November 4, 2008: Will this be looked back upon as the date we threw it all away? Karl2
Karl, we didn't throw it away, they did. Those ignorant, besotted fools, mesmerized by an empty suit pied piper. I begged God not to let him win; a frivolous prayer I guess and now I'll comfort myself with the hope that He is working in mysterious ways. I'm so depressed, miserable and terrified that I could just lie down and cry!
I knew deep down that he would win but I held out hope until he won Ohio. I thought it was the end of the world when Clinton won but this is so much worse, utterly devastating. God help us and those poor fools who think George Bush and the Patriot Act "took our rights away". They're about to see what activist, Marxist judges and the radical socialists in Congress will do to distort our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I am sick at heart.
Susanp,
Your prayers are no more frivolous than mine. We have all been too complacent for too long. It is quite possible, as circumstances fall into place, that the [radical] Democrats' dominance of the U.S. Senate can be reversed in two years' time. I am already rooting for LA Gov. Bobby Jindahl for President in 2012--the Republican answer to Barry Soetoro--errr, Barack Obama!
Seems that Jindahl, boy wonder (reformed, in turn, Loisiana's Schools and then Hospitals) was defeated by Democrat Kathleen Blanco for Governor in 2002. And then--can you say kamikaze, divine wind--Blanco and New Orleans' Democratic machine were swept out to sea by Hurricane Katrina. Jondahl earned his another stripe cleaning up mismanagement in his state, again.
He won election as Governor in 2006.
He won election as Governor in 2006.

"Antisemitism may be on the rise in Western Europe"
It seems that recently, in the last I don't know how many years, antisemitism and anti-Americanism are joined at the hip.
This paper was and is always full of demagoguery, lies, conspiracy theories and insults against everyone it has as target.
It started in the eighties supporting the socialist government of that period which cultivated relations with Arafat,Qaddafi,Assad and Saddam Hussein and saw Greece as a third world country.
When the socialists became more modernized abandoning thirdworld theories it became just a paper for the personal gain of its editor.
Its credibility is zero for Greek issues, let alone for foreign ones.
DenverRodeo, I thought I was the only one who noticed that.
Everyone noticed that. It's called 'Leftism.' Pro-Islamism is part and parcel of it.
so uh, Zionism has nothing to do with it? Investigate a little deeper.
I'm glad to see that I am not the first greek to react to this disgusting headline which unfortunately reflects a great deal of greek public opinion.
I agree with the explanation given above by palamas. I've always believed that greek judeophobia is the product of intra dhimmi antagonism inherited from the ottoman empire.
It seems we've just learned considerably more about the Greeks.
