Investigators from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which works under the auspices of the United Nations, have found traces of enriched uranium in Syria, a potential sign that the country had been attempting to develop a nuclear program, Reuters quoted diplomats familiar with the IAEA investigation as saying.These satellite images show a building in a site where Syria allegedly built a nuclear reactor in August, left, and right, the building in the center of the image has vanished completely.
According to Monday's report, the uranium was discovered at the same site which was allegedly bombed by IAF jets in September 2007. Behind the scenes, Israel has reportedly been working to convince US and other Western officials of the legitimacy of the air strike, but the findings of the IAEA investigators provide the first independent confirmation that a nuclear program had indeed been in development.
The leaked information came shortly after the IAEA Director Mohamed ElBaradei announced he would release a formal, written report on the subject, Reuters reported. The IAEA had no immediate comment.
Diplomats further told the news outlet that Syria would be named an official agenda item at a meeting of the agency at the end of the month. This, Reuters reported, was different than previous investigation results, when IAEA officials termed their inquiries as inconclusive.

When this bombing took place I said the IAEA would take their time and make sure enough time elapsed for a 'clean up' of the real damning evidence. The hard ware.
The IAEA can tell us the 'signature' of the radiation...this allows us to know where it came from, i.e. lab, country of origan, etc.

This site is not a human rights defence site, but a site designed to discredit Israeli forces in their attempt to control a group of people who have no civil control of themselves. In the picture that "proves" a soldier is using a "child" as a human sheild, I see a prisoner, blindfolded, crouched behind a wall, with a soldier standing above him firing at unseen targets. Both of these people are behind a wall, with the prisoner further behind than the soldier. A human sheild would be held in front of the soldier to intercept bullets, not behind and below the concentration of fire. The prisoner is not a child, but a teenager, quite capable of causing problems that could and probably have endangered the soldier's life, therefore the arrest was necessary.
We have similar sites and attitudes in the states. For the past few years we have listened to the far left call the president a terrorist, we have heard prominent politicians, including the president elect condemn our military for "bombing civilians indiscriminately", we have an over abundance of guilt ridden pacifists who cannot stomach the price others are paying for their freedom to condemn them, "I do not agree with what you are saying, but will die to protect your right to say it".
The site you sent me to describes the fight as a dispute over "occupied territories". This is not the case, not the truth. There is no occupation, as there is no occupation in Iraq or Afghanistan. The fight against islamic supremicists is exactly, just that.

If I can recall the question: Do you justify Mohammed's actions above (i.e. dismembering, gouging eyes, leaving two humans to die of heat and thirst in the desert; that is, the actual acts independent of and irrespective of circumstances or context, as actions befitting a prophet of God? I'm referring specifically to the manner of capital punishment, not the fact of it. Should he have done it the way he did it?
Again, a simple yes or no, please.
And not to play the gadfly excessively, but if you could supply an example or two of "[Israel]never gives an inch on one side without taking five miles on the other...."

You seem to ignore that there is crime and punishment, and the punishment should meet the crime. If you can't do the time don't do the crime, and when the time is stopping of the clock, it begs the (unanswered) question, what was their crime?
To frame your standard with a little reality check:

Some know what to expect when Jesus returns to finish his ministry...others, not a clue, but last and not least, the unfinished ministry of Jesus Christ who hinted at it, "Think not that I bring peace unto the world, I bring a sword."
So ask yourself, "Wat is the past standard of justice among Prophets?"
And then answer, "What crime did the men in question commit?"

You've given no example of the same in Christian texts, only examples of Qur'anic imprecation of the deity (Noah), metaphorical allusions (Jesus), divine miraculous intervention which you incorrectly attributed to a human leader (prophet?; "pulled down the walls"), and real and presumed incidental casualties (to which you without justification project cruelty) to the heat of battle. There is no JudaeoChristian correlate of a sober, deliberate torture execution for a capital crime in anything of the distractions and moral equivocations you've posited, so let's get back to the real question. What do you think of the manner in which Mohammad exacted the death penalty? This was not a simple execution for an admittedly capital crime (and, yes, I know they allegedly committed murder-robbery-apostasy-treason by the Qur'anic account). Nor was it during heat of battle, or even a spontaneous act of passion (perhaps you differ, though I don't think you want to go there). Frankly, it was a sober, deliberate, dispassionate, intentionally cruel torture-execution. What is most notable is that we monitor and correct our own behavior. In stark contrast to islamic militants, this behavior is an anomaly and not the standard operating procedure. Islamic militants, or maggots by your own definition, routinely use women and children as human shields. They often initiate cowardly attacks from buildings occupied with civilians and then cite them as casualties after Israel responds. And islamics seek to maximize the loss of life as opposed to Israel or the west trying to minimize it.

Taylor who had been kidnapped by the Irgun on June 18 and held as hostages for the lives of Simkohn and Ashbel, were released in Tel Aviv unharmed. July 22, 1946, Jerusalem. The west wing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem which housed British Military Headquarters and other governmental offices was destroyed at 12:57 PM by explosives planted in the cellar by members of the Irgun terrorist gang. By the 26 of July, the casualties were 76 persons killed, 46 injured and 29 still missing in the rubble. The dead included many British, Arabs and Jews.

Bacteria was supplied by Soviet sources through Bulgaria.

Anti-Semitic outbreaks slackened after five days of rock throwing, window-smashing and other incidents including daubing Jewish businesses with swastikas and numerous assaults on British Jews. These incidents occurred in Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff (Wales), Leeds, London and Birmingham as retaliation for the murder of two British sergeants in Palestine. Thirty-eight persons were arrested in Liverpool but in the main, the British police ignored the rioters and permitted them to run their course.

August 14, 1947, Geneva. The UN Special Subcommittee on Palestine returned to Geneva after a seven-day tour of DP camps in Austria and Germany. The tour took the group to Munich, Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg. In Berlin it heard reports August 13 from General Lucius D. Clay, US. Military Governor. Clay testified that anti-Semitism is growing very sharply among the ranks of the US. military units in the US Zones of Austria and Germany because of the violent, asocial and criminal behavior of the Eastern European DPs, all of whom are Jewish. August 15, 1947, Palestine. A mine derailed a Cairo-Haifa troop train north of Lydda, killing the engineer, and Irgun terrorists claimed the incident was part of its campaign to disrupt all the Palestine rail traffic.

August 16, 1947, Palestine. Arab-Jewish clashes have brought death to 12 Arabs and 13 Jews and heavy property destruction this week in the regions of Jewish Tel Aviv and Arab Jaffa. Interracial strife was renewed on August 10 when Arabs killed four Jews in a Tel Aviv cafe, in reprisal for the deaths of two Arabs in a Haganah raid in Fega two months ago. Haganah responded to the Arab actions by bombing a house in an Arab orange grove near Tel Aviv, killing eleven Arabs, including a woman and four children. British military curfews imposed on August 13 on slum districts between modern Tel Aviv and Jaffa have failed to prevent mounting casualties. British military authorities, citing captured intelligence and statements from Jewish defectors from terrorist organizations, state that it now appears that the Jewish terrorists are beginning to attack Arabs where ever they found them because Jews wish the Arabs to be driven out of Palestine entirely.

In a bitter three-hour fight aboard the “Runnymede Park,” 350 British troops completed a two-day forced debarkation of 4,300 “Exodus 1947” illegal Jewish refugees from three ships in Hamburg, Germany. First ashore yesterday were the “Ocean Vigour's”1,406; a few put up token resistance and five passengers sustained minor injuries. Early today, the “Empire Rival's” 1,420 passengers debarked peaceably after a home made bomb was found in the ship's hold. Many of the “Runnymede Park's” 1,485 passengers fiercely resisted the debarkation process and British military units had to use fire hoses and truncheons to rout resisters below decks. The Jews were taken ashore screaming “Nazis” to the British. “Runnymede Park” casualties, officially, were 24 Jews and three Britons injured, with 50 leaders of the resistance on that ship taken to jail. German police broke up a Hamburg demonstration by 1,300 Jewish DPs from the Bergen-Belsen camp, where British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin was hanged in effigy on September 7. The debarked “Exodus” passengers were interned in Poppendorf camp near Luebeck for screening by nationalities and at first all of them refused to cooperate with British authorities until the passengers were threatened with a diet of bread and water.

Marshall disclosed that the US. had urged Britain to reconsider sending the “Exodus” group to Germany, but Britain replied that there were no facilities for housing them elsewhere because the French did not want them and there were a number of vacant detention camps in Germany.

September 11, 1947, Paris. The French government has now announced that it would admit the “Exodus” refugees if they were not forcibly deported from Germany and on the understanding that they will be admitted eventually to Palestine.

French police state a Stern gang plot to attack London with home-made fire extinguisher bombs from the air was thwarted through the cooperation of Reginald Gilbert of St Louis, Missouri, a student and wartime RCAF and AAF pilot He was taken into custody with Rabbi Baruch Korif, of New York, co-chairman of the Political Action Committee for Palestine, and Judith Rosenberger, Hungarian-born Stern gang member, as the three started to enter a private plane last night at Toussus-le-Noble field near Versailles. Gilbert informed French police that Korif had approached him in Paris a week ago with an offer for flying a bombing mission over London the day of the“ Exodus” illegal immigrant landings in Germany. Gilbert accepted for some other pilot who would actually perform the mission. He at once notified Paris police, then worked with them and Scotland Yard while pretending to go through with the Stern gang's plot. Korff was charged in Paris on September 9 with illegal possession of bombs he was intending to drop on London. He began a hunger strike. Paris police state that nine other conspirators were in custody.

Zone of Germany and all British delegations there are under 24-hour guard, the US. command announced in Frankfurt-on-the Main. Another Arab was murdered in Haifa by the Stern gang following their execution of four Arabs near Raanana November 20 in retaliation for the British shooting of five Stern gang members on November12. Arabs retaliated against this killing at Raanana by wounding five Jews on a bus near Tel Aviv on November 20.

November 30- December 6, 1947, Palestine. A week of disorders brought on by Arab wrath over the UN's decision to partition the Holy Land ended with at least 159 killed in the Middle East, 66 in Palestine.
While Jews in Palestine, Europe and the US celebrated and began planning their new state and the UN moved to implement its plan, war talk was rife throughout the Arab world. The Arab League announced on December 1 that premiers and foreign ministers of seven Arab states would meet in Cairo next week to plan strategy against partition.
In Palestine: Jerusalem and the Jaffa Tel Aviv boundary zone were centers of week-long strife which began when seven Jews were killed throughout Palestine on November 30 and the mayor of Nablus, Arab nationalist center, proclaimed jihad or a holy war. British High Commissioner Sir Alan Cunningham warned the Arab Higher Command on December 1 that Britain was determined to keep order so long as it held its mandate, and police stopped Arab agitators from raising crowds in Jerusalem. But Jewish celebrations there were stoned. Arabs looted and burned a three-block Jewish business district in Jerusalem on December 2, the first day of a three-day Arab general strike during which 20 Jews and l5 Arabs were killed.
When British troops failed to intervene, Haganah (unofficial Zionist militia) came into the open for the first time in eight years to restrain large-scale Jewish retaliation and also guard Jewish districts. Some Haganah men were arrested for possessing weapons. The day's strife caused $1 million worth of damage and resulted in a 24-hour curfew being applied to Arab Jerusalem for the rest of the week.
The curfew was extended to outlying roads on December 3 to stop stonings of Jewish traffic and keep rural Arabs out of the capital. Max Pinn, head of the Jewish Agency's Trade and Transfer Department was killed on December 2 when Arabs stoned his auto near Ramleh. On this day Jews stoned Arab buses in Jerusalem. On the Jaffa-Tel Aviv boundary, which also is under around-the-clock curfew, the week's heaviest battle was a six-hour clash between Hagariah and Arabs on December 3 in which seven Jews and five Arabs were killed and 75 persons injured.
On December 2, Haganah claimed to have mobilized 10,000 men in the intercity trouble zone, and the Arab Legion of Trans-Jordan reported on this date that it had reinforced Jaffa. Seven Jews were killed in Jaffa-Tel Aviv on this date. There were lesser attacks in Haifa this week. It becomes clearly evident that the partition is not going as planned and that although the Jews are pleased, the Arabs are not. There appears to be no way to control the Jews or their determination to drive all of the Arabs out of Jerusalem by force if necessary.
The Arabs, initially living in peace with the Jewish minority, have been increasingly victimized by the Jews who, now that the British are leaving, are turning their savage behavior against them. The Jews have redoubled their efforts to build a military force and arm them. They claim that this force is to protect the Jewish population against attacks from the Arab countries as well as the Arab population of Jerusalem but an even stronger argument can be made that the Zionists are determined to drive out the Arab population by armed force.
The initial Arab response to Jewish harassment over the past year has been very slow in coming but it seems to be quite inevitable and a terrible civil war is foreseen. The United States Department of State announced on December 5, 1947 that they were placing an embargo on all American arms shipments to the Middle East It appears that the Soviets have been sending weapons – mostly captured German pieces, to assist the Zionists and accompanying these clandestine arms shipments the Soviets have also sent a very sizable contingent of instructors and advisors to Palestine in months past
As many of the Zionists are Russian or Polish in origin, these Communist Russians have been received gladly by the Jewish extremists and quickly blend in with the local populations. Soviet interest in Middle East oil and an overriding interest in obtaining warm-water ports are a prime factor in their interest in a Jewish state in Palestine. The most violent reactions in the Arab world to the UN partition idea are Syrian and Egyptian.
However, it is noted that the worst outbreak of anti-partition violence outside Palestine occurred in Aden, a British colony at the entrance to the Red Sea. On December 5, British military reinforcements were sent to Aden after four days of Arab-Jewish fighting in which 5O Jews and 25 Arabs were killed. In Syria, public demonstrations by the Arab population paralyzed business in Damascus earlier this week. The Soviet cultural center and Communist headquarters in Damascus were wrecked on November 30 with four persons killed.
The Syrian Communist Party was officially disbanded by the government and the US. and British Embassy flags were torn down. On December 1, Syria introduced military training into all boys' schools and on December 2, the Syrian Parliament enacted a draft law and voted $860,000 for the relief of Palestinian Arabs. On the same day Arabs attacked the Jewish part of Aleppo.
In Egypt the Chamber of Deputies resolved on December 1 to help keep Palestine a totally Arab state and to support the Arab population of Palestine against attacks by the Jewish minority. There were repeated anti-US and British demonstrations in Egypt's main cities, and the British Institute in Zagazig was burned on December 2. All public meetings were banned in Cairo after Egyptian police fought with 15,000 people on December 4.
In Lebanon, Arab students smashed the windows of the US Legation in Beirut on December 1 and Lebanese Communists demonstrated against the partition of Palestine and all schools were closed to prevent student disorders. In Iraq, students in Baghdad wrecked the US. Information offices on December 4. In Saudi Arabia, anti-American demonstrations by Arabs in the oil fields were restrained by the government.

December 13, 1947, Palestine. Jewish terrorists shifted from defense to attack in the second week of conflict with the Arabs since the UN voted for partition of Palestine. The death toll for the past 14 days was at least 220 in Palestine and 336 in the Middle East, including 111 in Aden. Arab retaliatory raids at Jaffa and Tel Aviv had killed 30 Jews and Arabs when local businessmen on both sides arranged for a truce on December 10 to effect an orange harvest.
On December 11, however, the Arabs renewed their assaults in the Old City of Jerusalem, which was the worst day of the current strife with 41 fatalities throughout Palestine. On December 12, Haganah launched attacks on both the Arabs and British with a death toll of 20 Arabs, five Jews and two British soldiers killed
On December 13, bombings by the Irgun killed at least 16 Arabs and injured 67 more in Jerusalem and Jaffa and burned down a hundred Arab houses in Jaffa. In Syria, an anti-Jewish attack in retaliation for the Irgun actions burned down a 2,750-year old synagogue in Aleppo and destroyed the priceless Ben-Asher Codex, a 10th century Hebrew Bible of original Old Testament manuscripts.

January 3-10, 1948, Palestine. Extensive Jewish Agency purchases of US. war surplus high explosives with which to fight Arabs were disclosed in the New York City area. While 191 tons of TNT and the more powerful M-3 were seized before shipment, 73 tons cleared New York for Palestine. The TNT shipment was accidentally discovered when longshore men loading the American Export Lines freighter “Executor” in Jersey City on January 3, dropped a box marked “industrial machinery” and while attempting to repair the box, found cans of TNT bearing US. Army markings.
The “machinery” proved to be 32 1/2 tons of TNT, which the US. Customs impounded as contraband because of the ban on American arms shipments to the Middle East On January 10, the FBI was attempting to trace the source of the contraband. The Jewish Agency for Palestine acknowledged on January 10 that it had purchased 199 tons of M-3 from the War Assets Administration at the Army's Seneca Ordnance Depot near Romulous, New York. Federal and state agents recovered 126 tons from a farmhouse and trucks near Asbury Park, New Jersey, and Barclay Heights and Saugerties, New York on January 8-9 but 73 tons were believed to be en route to Palestine.
The Jewish Agency called its transaction with the WAA legal, admitted having set up “Foundry Associates, Inc.” in New York with a Haganah agent in charge, to buy explosives for their war on the Arabs. The FBI said Leonard Weisman, president of three New York firms (Pratt Steamship Line, Material Redistribution Corporation and Paragon Design and Development Co.) gave the Haganah agent office space but did nothing illegal. WAA stopped all deliveries on unfulfilled orders on January 9 in the New York area. It said Foundry Associates, Inc., had sworn that it was a normal trader in explosives, thereby qualifying to buy the M-3, and that the export question was a US. Department of State matter.

Do you know where the original, perhaps sans typos might be found? I am hitting a dead end, the source being attributed to "as published in the Barnes Review"
which also carries a lot of Holocaust denying materials. Now, where that doesn't negate the factuality, you can see where that might raise my discomfort. TBRnews.org, a Barnes derivative, and the only other location I can find to purchase the alleged report, also carries for sale Holocaust denying material.
Of course, pleading for some originality to the report would be its consistency in unilaterally defining Israel as the problem, just like current U.N. reports and resolutions.

I assume this is proposed moral equivalence dilemma. Let's set some boundaries for this discussion, to which I'm sure you will agree:
1) I am not a prophet of God.
2) I am not setting my standard of behavior as that of a perfect man or a model of conduct.
3) Posterity will not revere this thread as an infallible reference of my actual opinion.
So, here is my opinion. I would not personally use them. I deplore and condemn their usage, particularly the first two, and almost all conceivable uses of the latter. I believe in justice, just causes, and just wars, at least as ideals (please don't read too much into that quite yet). I do not believe in exacting cruelty as punishment, revenge, or even in passion, and all of those substances and means which you have listed are inefficient, at least in their penumbra. As a disclaimer, those are my best thoughts; I'm sure one could document my having irrationally or carelessly said worse. Those are my highest, best personal standards, to which I would purport to strive.
We quote your texts a lot; I think it is only fair on occasion to quote mine. Consider that your faith does not profess to negate mine, but only considers its texts in part corrupted, or tahrif. (As an aside, do you not recognize a startling incuriousity of the ulema in its lack of plumbing those texts depths to categorize which verses are useful?) Feel free, if you don't hear a certain veracity in the following to discount it. The pomposity you ascribe to me is your perspective; I think a lot of humility is required to practice my faith, and that its absence is damning. Some would criticize the passivity of the above, yet comparing the usage with more perspicuous passages, clarity emerges (e.g. do not judge those things you yourself do, as in Luke 6:41-43).
Anyway, between my Jesus, as characterized in the texts I revere, and your Mohammad, as you've characterized above, which do you think would have been more likely to have used napalm, jellied gasoline, or the atom bomb, had they been available?

This is a penchant of yours, asking leading questions and then attempting to use the answers as a weapon against me. You are really only reinforcing your preconceived notions by the questions you ask.

No. If you study in depth for even a short time, there is a very strong rejection of this concept that one may “plumb the depths” of past revelation for useful knowledge.

In the hadiths there are in meaning exactly the like of which you have posted. I have said this many times before, that you will find what you are looking for if you look.
The Prophet said what means “If you were hit you may hit them back, but you are more righteous if you turn the other cheek.” The point being one does not have to degrade one’s dignity by allowing a tyrant to strike you…you can without any sin at all hit them back, but if you desire to be better in righteousness, you may turn the other cheek.

There are many more hadiths that speak of the actions and generosity and kindness the Prophet had for all people other than the stern idolators, and even them he had noble manners with in every day life. When it came to war, well, war is hell…

We've been over this. The Jews were quite fastidious in recording faults they attributed to Christ. They didn't include any injuries at the temple, of the "unarmed businessmen just trying to make a buck" by extorting extravagant sums from worshippers trying to comply with the required sacrifices. BTW, Jewish texts do not disclaim Y'shua did miracles, just reassign the source of them to Satan, an interesting conclusion as if you study Job and 2Samuel/1Chronicles, you discover Satan doesn't do anything (God's power) without God's approval.
Well, I have to disagree with you here. I believe Mohammad was of the mind to apply every strategem of war (9:5), and used this pattern efficiently to extend the reach of his physical kingdom before and following his death. He used torture as a terror-inducing deterrent to dissent (as you admit, "deterrent to others of like mind"), rape, enslavement, "Allah's punishment" (Kinana), etc. Compare his present day votaries who throw acid when rejected as suitors. Who detonate women, children, and the disabled. Who leave piles of decapitated heads to terrorize the locals into subjection. Whose scholars' progeny seem to have no problem with napalm. Whose shariah based governments seem to not share your aversion to acquiring and presumably utilizing "The Bomb".
Jesus said his Kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). Mohammad's certainly was.
On the other topic, IF the Bunche Report was not an authentic record, what purpose did its fabrication serve? If you justify its conclusion by piecing together the same monocular views of the events portrayed, are you not doing the same? They either stand alone, or not, right? If not, then why not? Obviously, one could construct a historical list of "Palestinian" atrocities through a biased lens, and try to add importance, and reduce contextual scrutiny, by compiling it into the format of a fictitious report served to an important international body, further portraying it as some conspiratorially withheld secret conclusion (with an odor of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"). The intent would be to put the reader in a different mindset, to a different task, that of assessing a contrived question of "If we had known then...", as opposed to assessing each event in particular context (which you otherwise are quite fond), for its own relevance, and drawing independent, deductive conclusions. Anticipating your failure to produce a verified authentic original "Bunche Report", one is left rather to conjecture and presumption in reconstructing the "report's" fabricator's motives and intentions. And perhaps, yours.

Our exchanges are very fruitful, though some may not see the benefit. Yes, some things you ask are done so in a scripted manner expecting a pat answer at which you say, “Aha!” well, sorry to burst your bubble I am not that interesting. Yes, some of the things you bring up are touchy subjects…such as stoning of adulterers, yet I never see you push that issue to it’s logical conclusion and discuss all of the law surrounding that? This is a subject tempered by fiqh. We have what we believe is the final revelation…we do not accept or reject as truth the previous revelation…other than in that which agrees with what we hold, the confirmation as it were. Yes, some may see this as “supremacist”, but that is simply what we believe, we have the most up to date and complete version of the message, and there is a stern warning not to “plumb the depths” as it were in an attempt to increase one’s knowledge of one’s own religion…Islam, in my case. There are plenty of uncharted depths in subjects too diverse to list here…as I said before, everything has a context, and defining what the illa is or the issue of any situation of question that is asked is difficult.

Now this I would point to as harmonious with Isalmic faith…yes, one can never get to heaven on one’s own works, it is only by the grace and mercy of God. And born into each human is the need to worship God, yet that can be sublimated by worldly things and the “need” filled by other than worship of God if one is not careful.

How much different, and less fearful of and less isolated from posterity is Christianity:
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 4:13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments [Judaic scriptures].
Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures [Judaic scriptures] every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Jesus frequently quoted the Tanakh, particularly Deuteronomy. He read from the Tanakh in the Temple (I was actually proud of you above where you admitted there was a Jewish Temple, though). The Revelation of John has 404 verses of which at least 265 contain quotes drawn from the Old Testament. All of the evidence of Jesus being the Messiah comes from the Old Testament, when, where, and how he would be born, when and how he would die, his mission and purpose, etc. It painted a picture so as to recognize him. I would have trouble believing in Jesus if it were not this way, and it troubles me that you seemingly deliberately uncritically accept Mohammed as a "fulfillment" without attempting to confirm his "bonafides". Fulfillment of what? How would you know which what it was? Christians use archaeology, history and textual criticism to confirm the accuracy of our texts. You know that the Qur'an was recompiled more than once. You know that Ibn Hisham redacted the Sira. You know that there were ulterior motives in assigning rankings of isnad. Why would you allow someone to "warn" you not to delve deeper? Perhaps the "Planet of the Apes" analogy was not so far afield.
I guess you're going to have to explain that to me. My understanding of Islamic soteriology is that, yes, your works are weighed and if your good exceeds the bad, odds are, you're in. But if Allah is in a capricious mood, oops, you're not. That the only SURE way is to die as a shaheed in the "lesser" jihad. Which gets back to works.
In Christianity, your martyred blood isn't good enough, because it is imperfect, unclean, even on your best day improperly intentioned before an infinitely holy God. You can never earn salvation, the stain of your previous sins as an affront to God's holy honor would remain forever, undiluted. Just as any sovereign would be diminished by arbitrarily assigning penalties or pleasures (for how would you call him wise, just, honest, trustworthy?), God's rightful wrath at even your forgotten insubordinations and impertinence must be satisfied, propitiated. And that's just the bad things you did, knowingly and unknowingly. There's also the good you didn't do. It all adds up. If you don't make restitution, then God's honor remains besmirched. It gets worse: You can't. You're not good enough and you can't go back in time to "fix" things. Even if you could survive the punishment you deserved, -1 + 1 = 0. You still have no merit. You need an advocate competent from both respects, who did the good he should have, didn't do the bad he could have, overflowing in merits and willing to keep taking your penalties and rehabilitate you, and as a bonus is a very close friend of the Judge.
That is Christianity, and I fail to see the comparison with Islam, though I appreciate your attempt at an ecumenical moment. I mean this as academically as I can ask, not as a cliché: If you were to die TONIGHT, God forbid, as a Muslim, in what do you place your faith that you would spend eternity in a good place? What is the basic construct of Islamic "assurance"? What is the rock solid Qur'anic basis? How do you measure your certainty subjectively or objectively? Question number 2: What is it exactly about spending eternity with houris that honors and glorifies God and enables you to appreciate HIS majesty and holiness; that is, what is theocentric about it?
