"Bakri, 50, gave the order to followers to hatch an escape plan just days after Qatada was freed from jail and placed under house arrest."
Urgent questions for British authorities: Who are Bakri's followers in Britain? How many are there?
More on this story. "Bakri bid for pal’s breakout," by Tom Wells for The Sun, November 11:
Hate preacher Omar Bakri masterminded the plot to help extremist pal Abu Qatada flee Britain, The Sun can reveal.
Bakri, 50, gave the order to followers to hatch an escape plan just days after Qatada was freed from jail and placed under house arrest.
In an audio recording obtained by The Sun, the evil cleric instructed: “There are two ways to help (Qatada). One is maybe try to help him against the kuffar (non-believer) to remove all these restrictions. Or by smuggling him outside the country if you can find a way.”
He then adds: “Try to help him financially or socially – whatever way you can.”
Qatada, 47, was re-arrested in a dawn swoop on Friday after authorities received a tip-off about his escape plot.
Government sources believe Lebanon was his likely destination – where Bakri has lived since 2005. Qatada, once described by a judge as Osama bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe, won his fight against deportation to Jordan five months ago.
Since then, he has spent 22 hours a day under virtual house arrest at his home in West London. The pair have been linked for a decade.
What's the problem if he leaves Britain? So long as he never comes back...One less expensive, ungrateful jihadist on British soil.
Exactly - who the hell wants to keep him?
We don't want him here, give him a damn ticket out, him and his entire family!!! either that or just bloody shoot him!!!

Ah! See, the escape was planned to avoid the following house-arrest by Infidels, which would hinder jihad-efforts. Once he escaped the house-arrest, Qatada would return to continue with the 'inner-spiritual struggle' - house-arrest; where he left off.
Well,
I hear the people saying just let him leave because we don't want him here. I don't want him here either but the problem is that if he did skip bail it would prove even more of mockery to our justice and policing system here in the UK. Then there's also the fact that he'll be looked upon as a hero and light of hope to many Jihadis, that he escaped imprisonment under the noses of his captors. He will also be planning yet more attacks on the UK, Europe and the USA.
I don't want him being locked up either as it's costing the tax payer even more to put him in a high security prison, not forgetting the continued benefits to his family outside, no doubt being used to fund Jihad(like father like son and daughter).
I would like to see Britain end all ties with Europe and extradite him to Jordan, where he'd be hanging from his neck, dead, with a month.
Correction : I didn't mean skip bail, but house arrest.
Why just not a good old escape attempt and the culprit gets shot and dies? It would save the world a lot.

It doesn't make Britain safer. It doesn't keep him from aiding the jihadists still in Britain. Telecommunication and the internet make it possible for jihad to be directed from a cave in Afghanistan. Khomeini delivered sermons from an audio cassette. Today he could teleconference.
Qatada's followers are still in Britain and after helping him escape wouldn't they start attacking those who "forced him to leave"?
Unless his followers go with him, not much can be accomplished. Unless his entire family goes with him, Britain is still paying support.
Richard: if Qatada were extradited to Jordan, couldn't his family still remain in Britain, drawing public benefits? Wouldn't he still be a martyr for the cause? His son would be his "successor". His followers would cite Britain's "treatment" of him as an excuse for more violence. His audience is the problem.
Why is it that Qatata gets 'house arrest' when lesser Mohammadan law breakers get thrown in a cell with maniacs?
Is there some kind of double standard going on here? While all Mohammadans are preferred, some are preferred more than others? I thought only Allah could make that determination...British Mohammadans should protest un-equal treatment...
It's un-Islamic...
Going back to Jail is what, Too good for him?
PMK,
Under current EU regulations, if the UK did manage to extradite him to Jordan by winning an appeal(highly unlikely) his family would most definitely stay within the UK to carry on the 'cause'. If this did happen and the police were to continue keeping the family under investigation, then I wouldn't be surprised if the police were sued for continued harassment.
If however, the UK government gives the people a referendum on Europe, then the overwhelming vote would be to leave it and be 100% in charge of our nation state, then you would undoubtedly see the deportation of Qatada and his entire family(and all his in laws, their families, relatives and associates). You would also see the removal of all foreign prisoners and dangers to the UK.
As long as there are people like Qatada in the UK, Islamisation is inevitable.
