"Jews not welcome" (nothing new here). Meanwhile, the Saudis -- their king no less -- have been fervently calling for "interfaith dialogue" with "our brothers" (Christians and Jews). This is not all that inconsistent, however, as these "dialogues" have never been hosted by the Saudis on Saudi ground (not only Jews, but Christians and, naturally, polytheists et. al. are not welcome). They're just for show (that is, taqiyya).
"Canada defends Saudi policy of shunning tourists who visited Israel," by Michael Freund for the Jerusalem Post, December 6 (thanks to Dionysios):
The Canadian government has come to the defense of Saudi Arabia, telling The Jerusalem Post that the desert kingdom's policy of barring entry to Canadian citizens whose passports bear an Israeli visa or border stamp is "accepted practice."According to the Web site of Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, "Canadians have been denied entry into Saudi Arabia because their passports bore: a) an Israeli visa; b) an Israeli border stamp; or c) an Egyptian or Jordanian border stamp issued by an office bordering Israel (such a stamp would indicate the traveller entered from Israel)."
Contacted via e-mail by the Post, Department spokesman [?] Lisa Monette was asked how the Canadian government views the Saudi policy. Monette refused to criticize or condemn the practice, instead asserting that, "it is the sole prerogative of each country or region to determine who is allowed to enter."
When pressed further on the matter and asked if Canada had raised the issue with Saudi officials, Monette once again reiterated the right of every country to impose such rules, describing it as the "accepted practice within the international community."
Contacted by the Post, a leading Canadian Jewish organization expressed outrage over Saudi Arabia's policy and said they would raise the matter with Canadian government officials in Ottawa.
"We will ask the Canadian government to make every effort to ensure that Canadian citizens are not discriminated against by the human-rights abusing regime of Saudi Arabia," said B'nai B'rith Canada Executive Vice President Frank Dimant. "The issue goes well beyond Canadian passports and is a matter for all democracies in the world to deal with," he added.
Of course! We should just be more open-minded. How dare decent human beings take issue with barbaric practices that other nations engage in? Furthermore, why aren't we more accepting of stoning adulterers, honor killing, cutting off people's hands and feet, beheading infidels, and banning Jews? And why not continue to allow them to export their evil to our great nations? What we need, people, is more tolerance for the intolerable, more Mohammed Attas in our midsts, and more Judeophobia. And while we're at it, why not behead Mark Steyn and charge his killer 45 camels or whatever the blood money is for a Christian man?
don't you love moral and cultural relativism
Here again we see an infested leftist bureaucracy of asshats run amok in spite of the official government view. I'll bet Prime Minister Stephen Harper would reject this departmental opinion once he finds out about it.
See here "the miracle in the desert" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMFukdbcn8k
Of course Harper is busy facing a 'leftist coup' right now at home from those who think their entitlement to govern outweighs the votes cast by the people a mere 6 weeks ago. Go figure.
It is very easy to make Saudi Arabia to change this policy if U.S. and other western powers want to. All it take is to control Saudi's privilege in terms of getting visa and restricting them not to visit specific countries (terrorist states). Ask them to list all countries they have visited in their life time and many stinky visit may be exposed.
As I was looking through the Daniel Pipes archives about Muslims and their marriage practices, one comment from a reader touched me a great deal:
"I'm a muslim from an islamic country, all these stuff about muslims are real, I hope with the help of christianity and other religions, all of these stuff will vanish from the earth".
I rather hope it was a male Muslim saying that; in any case, it is heartening and encouraging. It often seems that we have got to the stage where we must fight just to save our own skins, as Christians or at least as Westerners - but we can maybe hope for more, if we put our minds to it.
Remember, they don't all hate us,and some - who knows how many? - are depending on us, as we still operate from a basis of relative freedom, while they are trapped, physically if not mentally.
Sorry, put this on the wrong thread: how did that happen? I will transfer it.
What can we really expect from a "kingdom" still rotting in the 7th century? Canadastan is just chicken to upset or inflame the buttocks of their islamic population and that goes for overseas muslim buttocks too! Let's see... poligamy, wife beating(when they don't kill them for something trivial), stoning of victims, cutting off body parts, exporting terrorism via JIHAD, school books that do not recognize Israel, the vice and morality police, female genital mutilation and I am sure I am forgetting some of the other psotive points of islam, and sharia law. Let's ban all muslims from the USA that come from ANY muslim country and return all we have, or better yet, send them to Canadastan. More discrimination against Jews from one of our allies and our neighbor to the north turns a blind eye, so far.
Pc correctness and socialism, what a toxic stew!
I love Canada's version of humanitarianism, whereby their plan for survival is to rob the 3rd World of all its doctors and engineers. Good long-term plan, Canada. Get 'em all from Pakistan while you're at it, because Paki doctors are where 80 year-old Quebecois Catholics are going to want to go when they break their hips.
A little OT but I picked up this gem about Canadian humanitarianism on You Tube recently. The liberal government decreed the title "Canadian Armed Forces" was too violent and ordered it changed to "Canadian Forces". This necessitated repainting thousands of pieces of equipment and dumping tons of stationary. At least they did not "reach-out" and put the new name in Arabic.
If we discussed prohibiting any filthy Saudi (or disciples of Der Führer-Pirate-Prophet-Pedophile) to set foot in the West because of their anti-Jewish and anti-kafir policies, we'd hear so many cries of "racism" or "we can't be like them, we're better than that."
Well, dhimmitude is certainly no way to show that we're better than them. It only shows acknowledgment on our part of the completely non-existing superiority that muslims attribute to themselves.
When one considers that their actions and beliefs are the epitome of inferiority, what we should do is actually rub our superiority on those pig snouts they refer to as their own noses.
In my polite Canadian way, I would respectfully ask that all the Canuck-bashers take a good look at their own countries.
Every Western nation is facing its own challenges from the failed la-la land of multiculturalism. We are no more dhimmified than any other Western nation, and a good deal less than most. As in other nations, our "leaders" sometimes do not represent the needs and feelings of the people. Do not underestimate the resolve of Canadians, once roused.
For the sake of our shared heritage, beliefs and cultures, we must stand together.
Saudi logic in action...again...
We love Christian churches....but how could we allow them in the land of the holy Prophet?
We have nothing against Jews.....but how can we allow visitors or tourists who have been to the Israel that so mistreats Palestinians?
We want to have Christian dialogue......but it needs to be in Madrid, or Rome, or New York. The "will of the ummah" must be taken into consideration, and they would be offended by an interfaith conference in Mecca or Medinah.
Like I wanted to go visit Saudi Arabia.....................
ImNoDhimmi
I could not agree more, but posts from other Canadians do suggest your liberals seem determined to "out liberal" everyone else. It could of course be your MSM are more open and honest than ours.
As an example the BBC has been reporting riots in Athens for the last 2 days without mentioning the rioters are asylum seekers - who may or may not be muslim.
Well, I don't think this is OK, regardless of how nice the Canadians are. Look at the countries that give in to the Muslim hords that are pounding on all our doors. (Most of the Brits I know are emmigrating to the US or Canada because they expect their country to disappear in 20 years time.) So you must tell Muslim countries, especially the Saudi's, that shunning anyone but terrorists is not appropriate if they wish to travel to our countries.
And no more mosques here thanks. I am Islamophobic after one date with a Muslim student in college. One date to many!
""it is the sole prerogative of each country or region to determine who is allowed to enter."
I like the idea, when will we make use of this prerogative and ban all forms of Muslim immigration?
No Jew in his sane state of mind would consider entering Saudi Arabia anyway, I guess.
