Recently in the Hate Mail bag I received a missive berating me for not acknowledging Egypt as a "moderate Muslim country."

(AINA) -- Martha Samuel, an Egyptian Muslim who converted to Christianity 5 years ago, was arrested at Cairo airport on Wednesday as she and her husband and two sons (4 and 2) were leaving for Russia (AINA 12-17-2008). Her name was on the observation list of people prevented from leaving the country.The Egypt for Christ Ministry is reporting that Martha Samuel has been subjected to sexual assault by Egyptian police officers at El-Nozha police station as well as at the National Security office in Heliopolis. She has also been beaten and tortured in an attempt to force her to return to Islam. The police have promised to release her if she returns to Islam.
Martha Samuel and her children, who are also under arrest, is to be transferred from the National Security office in Heliopolis to Al-Qanater prison after seeing the "renewal judge." The children are not being provided with food deliberately to pressure their mother to return to Islam. Fadl Thabet, Martha's husband, has been taken to the National Security office in Alexandria (Somoha District).
Martha Samuel, whose former name is Zainab Said Abdel-Aziz, and her family were trying to travel to Russia using a passport of her Christian name, in order to escape from the continuous persecution by the Egyptian police and her own family, who have been trying to kill her for 5 years as a result of her conversion.
This story has it all:
Sexual crime; exploitation of children; the courageous exercise of freedom of conscience; a close American ally behaving viciously....and yet, where are the investigative sleuths of the MSM?
Answer: Completely uninterested.

Merry Christmas to the Pope, the World COuncil of Churches, the Archbishop of Caterbury, the United Methodist Church, the Mennonite Central Committee, the Friends Service Committee, the Presbyterian Church USA and so many others who have fought to defend the Church of Christ worldwide and its martyred and suffering believers.

Of course we know that there is no compulsion of religion, just beatings and rapes.
Why do we give these people money?
The whole country of Egypt must be misunderstanders of Islam! Don't they know that there is no compulsion of religion?
What's that? Oh, I'm taking that phrase out of context? That the real reason the "no compulsion " aya is in the Qur'an was to prevent unbelievers from trying to convert Muslims?
Has it ever occurred to any Muslim that all of the barriers to leaving Islam reveal more about Islam than any criticism from kuffars? If Islam is so good, why do Islamic governments (such as Egypt) have to torture and kill apostates? Why is Islam a room you can never leave? Why must conversion require death threats? Why is it that Islam cannot tolerate any competition?
If Islam was such a good idea, wouldn't people remain in the faith without compulsion?

Of course Egypt is a moderate Muslim country! They are just raping and torturing this apostate, and starving her children, rather than murdering her and her whole family outright.

Don't forget that Egypt receives more U.S. aid than any other country in the world except for Israel--over $1.3 billion annually.
What do we get for this aid? Egypt is murdering and persecuting Christian Copts, shooting Sudanese refugees trying to make it to Israel, torturing apostates, abusing women and children, and serving as a conduit for Gaza weapons runners.
About the only area where they have continued to stay their hand is that they haven't attacked Israel outright of late. In which case, all that aid is just a form of Jizya--"protection money".
Imagine the strong sense of personal piety, social duty, and humility at being the effective agent of divine retributive justice, that the raping police officers must have felt. Allah's chosen ones.

If we cut out aid to Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, and Saudi, and Iraq, maybe they would concentrate on killing each other and maybe, give the Christians and Jews a chance to get out with our direct evacuation help. That cesspool of evil is only going to get worse.
