Ehud Olmert said this week to the people of Gaza: “Don't let Hamas, which is acting against the values of Islam, put you in danger. Stop them. Stop your enemies and ours.” Olmert did not have to say that Islam explains the endless hostility toward Israel. That would be asking too much, and at this point it would not be an intelligent thing to say. But it would be intelligent to grasp that truth, and to fashion policies based on that truth. He could, and should, in any statement have left Islam out of it. But he did something still worse. Olment mentioned Islam, and claimed, on the basis of no detailed knowledge whatsoever, to exculpate Islam.
In this respect he was not different from some others, such as Bush and Rice, or Blair, who keep thinking that they must say nice things about Islam even if they don't know what they are talking about, mainly because they know that Islam is a "religion," even "one of the world's great religions." (Why not for the word "great" substitute the more accurate word "major" and for the word "religion" substitute the ungainly but more accurate "belief-system"?)
And if it is "one of the world's major religions, with more than a billion adherents," so their thinking goes, it must be okay. Surely what it inculcates must be fine, for "religions" are fine, and they all mean pretty much -- don't they? -- the same thing, because, you see, People Are The Same The Whole World Over. Surely Islam cannot be the explanation for the intolerable aggression and violence and hostility and mendaciousness of so many Muslims, of which the main victims are the world's Infidels, though other Muslims have also been known to suffer.
And Olmert, pathetic, confused, desperate, blind, stupid, Olmert, is...just Olmert. The schlemiel as head of state. Even his corruption was pathetic: those expensive cigars, those occasional trips with stays in fancy hotels. A comical figure, pitiful but not to be pitied. Too many people far better than he died in Lebanon, and perhaps will die in the future, because of Olmert and the likes of Olmert.
Olmert refuses to learn a thing about Islam. It is all around him, all around and within Israel, in the mosques, in the sermons of imams, in the videocassettes and the audiocassettes, on the broadcasts and in the newspapers in Arab lands. But Olmert will not study Islam. He doesn't have the time. He's too busy making peace, he's too busy with the "peace process." He hasn't time to study the texts. He will not study the tenets. He will not understand that the war against Israel is a Jihad, a war to remove from the Arab and Muslim midst an Infidel nation-state. He does not understand this. He will not understand it. He does not understand that no tangible assets must be given up by Israel; he does not understand that no agreement by Muslims with Infidels will be kept, not because of the untrustworthiness of this or that leader, but because Islam itself offers the Example of the Perfect Man, Muhammad, al-insan al-kamil, who in his breaching of the treaty he made with the Meccans at Hudaibiyya in 628 A.D. gave his followers an example for treaties for all time.
That's Olmert.
But Olmert thinks he is the "realist." People who want to hold onto the "West Bank" are, he thinks, "delusional."
Study Islam and then decide who here is being "delusional."
Olmert takes pride in his abandonment of what he regards as the "foolish certainties" of his parents and grandparents. Yet this has led him to confusion, and far greater distancing from realism, from understanding the nature and sources of the Jihad being waged against Israel. He is dangerous to the wellbeing of the state. For though his parents and grandparents may have been innocent of Islam, they at least had a solid sense of the legal, moral, and historic claims of the Jews to the Land of Israel -- at the very least, to all of Western Palestine. And, furthermore, they understood, even without having investigated Islam, that for some reason the Arabs would never accept a Jewish state, never accept Jews unless they continued in the role of permanently humiliated, degraded, and insecure dhimmis. And that the Zionist pioneers were certainly unwilling -- unable -- to do.
Olmert must go. But so must all those who presume to protect and instruct the people of Israel, but who simply cannot figure out, cannot comprehend, what is going on. And will go on.
Olmert apparently has not read any of the Quran or the ahadiths where it says kill Jews and never allow another religion in Arabia but Islam. He has never read the history of the Jewish people who had kings like David and Solomon, all kings of ISRAEL, not ARAB KINGS, but Jewish kings. With Jew like him, ISRAEL IS DOOMED.
All this above is true. Nonetheless, this is much bigger than Ehud Olmert. This is about "the people." The people of Israel. The people of America.
We, the people have moral obligations and responsibilities. September 11, 2001 was a seminal event in my life. After the 9/11 atrocities, I made it a priority to learn about Islam from honest authors and scholars. I have spent a good part of my adult life studying the Arab war against Israel. The Middle East is critical to understanding American foreign policy. It is critical to understanding America's political and moral present and future.
I am not any better or smarter than the next guy. I happen to believe we get the government we deserve. We have obligations as citizens. More often than not, there is no financial remuneration to being a good citizen.
Jews in Israel tell me, this traitorous government does not represent the people. I hear the same thing from conservatives; the Bush administration and the Republican party leadership does not represent the people.
I feel differently. I believe the people have come to embrace lying and corrupt politicians. So long as people feel comfortable at 'the moment', immoral, corrupt leaders like Ehud Olmert, George W. Bush, Barack Hussein Obama are fine.
A couple of notable quotes from George Bernard Shaw:
Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.
George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)
Ehud Olmert said this week to the people of Gaza: “Don't let Hamas, which is acting against the values of Islam, put you in danger. Stop them. Stop your enemies and ours.”
Well it's nice of Olmert to identify for the Gazans just who their enemy is. I'm sure that must be a revelation to them. And all this time they thought it was Israel.
Olmert must have been talking to Bush again. Bush never figured out who/what the enemy is either.
The bottom line in the area is that Islam will never tolerate a filthy, rotten, kufr state right smack in the middle of them.
Islam acts a lot like white blood cells. Whenever an infection, anything unIslamic, is detected, white blood cells flock to the scene to fight the invasion. We see this with Somali's leaving the US for jihad in Somalia, and we see this with other Mohammadans who leave western countries to fight for Allah in Afghanistan, Somalia etc.
Israel is such an infection to Islam. Look at the white blood cells who have surrounded her.
Their job is eradication, and that's what they set out to do.
There may be such a thing as backing off for a while, but there is no such thing as quitting.
Allah did not tell Mohammadans to quit.
The only way to stop them is make it to expensive and painful to continue.
Don't look to Olmert to do that.
Livni said "Enough is enough." "When there's shooting, there's a response. Any state would react that way."
Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned that "whoever harms the citizens and soldiers of Israel will pay a heavy price."
He's a decade or so late with that, but we will see....Maybe Bibi??
From post above: I happen to believe we get the government we deserve.
That may be the case sometimes, but I would not make it an absolute.
There are malignant governments forced on people who are powerless to do much about it except comply and try to stay out of the way.
All governments can quickly become malignant, depending on who is in charge at any given time.
Malignant governments are abusive by definition.
I don't think that people deserve to be abused by their government.
In the US the Constitution is supposed to insulate the people from the possibility of government abuse, this sounds good, but does not always work in practice. Your constitutional rights get abused first, 'then' you get to go to court.
I provide this link as an example...Did these people deserve this?

Islam is a religion of cousinhood or brotherhood. Every Muslim is by religion, the cousin of every other Muslim. The good, the bad and the ugly are all cousins by their religion - Islam. This is why when a Muslim terrorist is captured in the US by the American Law Enforcement, their cousins, CAIR (Cousins of America's Islam Radicals) jumps in to defend them regardless of the atrocities these Muslim terrorist commit.
This cousinhood aka mujahedeen (jihadists) extends beyond borders. Look at the Duka brothers who are from Bosnia. We (Americans) supported their Jihad in Bosnia and destroyed countless infidels from Serbia. You would think that it would be the Serbian infidels who would want to kill our solders in Fort DIX as a revenge which would be understandable considering what we had done to them. Instead, it is the Duka brothers whom we defended from Serbians and helped them kill many Serbian infidels and now they are coming to kill our solders because our solders are fighting against their cousins in Afghanistan, Taliban and mujahedeen (jihadists). CAIR is defending them now and would have defended them after they had carried the massacre had it taken place.
CAIR (Counsel for American Islamic Relations) has been outlawed by the US government for their radical ties and support for the enemy so they changed their name and now they are still CAIR but the name stands for Cousins of America's Islam Radicals (CAIR).
