Hamas threatens to "hunt down" Livni and Barak "inside the Knesset compound"

"The heroes in the Strip will continue to fight and prove the youth and fighters of Islam and the Palestinian organizations cannot be defeated."

"Fighters of Islam"? But this is a struggle for land, isn't it? All the learned experts say so!

"Hamas threatens to harm Livni, Barak," by Ali Waked for Ynet News, December 28 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

Islamist group figure in Gaza Strip says organization will strike Foreign Minister Livni 'inside the Knesset compound…will hunt Defense Minister Ehud Barak down'; also threatens revenge against 'traitors in Ramallah, Arab world who took part in scheme against us'

The death toll in the Gaza Strip continued to climb on Sunday, and Hamas heads broke out with threats against the Israeli leadership.

Hamas figure in the northern Gaza Strip Fathi Hamad said his organization would hurt Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

"We will reach that Zionist in her house, inside the Knesset compound. We will also get to the traitors in the Muqata compound in Ramallah and to all those in the Arab world that had a hand in the scheme against us. We will hunt Barak down and reach all of them," Hamad said.

"Today we are sending a message through the sea of blood that was spilled here and we will not surrender and we will defeat the enemy. From here, from within the proud Strip, we say to all our enemies: We will get to you, defeat you, and hunt you down one by one.

"We will reach the Zionist leaders in their homes, we will get to you, the collaborators in the Muqata in Ramallah, and we will settle the score with you one by one."

Hamad added that "Hamas and the organizations will settle the score with anyone who was involved in the attack on Gaza, in the participation in this scheme and in supporting this attack.

"The heroes in the Strip will continue to fight and prove the youth and fighters of Islam and the Palestinian organizations cannot be defeated," he said....

I knew there was something I liked about these guys.

"Today we are sending a message through the sea of blood that was spilled here and we will not surrender and we will defeat the enemy.

Sounds like defeated in Islamspeak to me.

He forgot to say Inshallah. It appears that Allah is on a Christmas vacation, or has he decided that the Israelis are more worthy of his support.

Good luck mate.

The threats against Israel are predictable. But also note the reference to the "traitors in the Muqata compound in Ramallah"--in other words, Hamas' rivals for "Palestinian leadership" in the West Bank, Fatah. Hamas already brutally drove Fatah out of Gaza, and now sees an excuse to go after them in Ramallah, as well.

This has nothing, really, to do with Israel--the most appropriate historical reference is Nazi blackshirts eradicating their brownshirt rivals in the party.

I did note the reference to fatah, that is the way it has always been in the east, the rulers are demigods that can brook no dissent, the political discourse seems to swerve from abject fawning to grisly threats.

As far as score settling goes it seems that Israel still has to fire a few more hundred missiles to even the score.

As long as the Palestinian people want war, no cease fire or peace treaty will end the conflict.

Hamas is lashing out like an injured snake.

All these threats are to be expected, but are sufficient reason for Israel to continue until the job is done.

I don't understand what this fuzz is all about. These terrorists love to die and Israel is granting them their wish while putting them out of their miseries. It is a win-win situation for both, the Israelis will be able to get rid of some Muslim terrorists and these Muslims terrorists will get to meet the 72 Muslim virgins they have been waiting to meet all their lives. So why are the Muslims so angry? Do they know the truth that there no virgins waiting for any of them? They must because they are acting like they know the truth.

Have they been lying to us about their love for death?

So now it seems like the Muslims Terrorists are both liars and cowards.

Gaza's Hamas lost the war, give it up Hamas, Isreal has once again defeated you.

In a way, a successful attack on a high-ranking Israeli minister would be a blessing for Israel; it would persuade them to fight this war exactly the same way as HAMAS et alii are fighting it: without regard for "civilians."

The Muslim Middle East has prized the Palestinians as the ultimately useful stick with which to beat the Israelis...but what if there were no more Palestinians?

"We know who the homicidal maniacs are. They are the ones cheering and dancing right now. We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."
