It is so HARD to link Islam to terrorism, it's a wonder that Islamophobes even try.

Muslims are like volcanoes, come in three shapes: Active (those engaged in Jihad), Dormant (not engaged in Jihad but support it anyway, not necessarily through words but by silence), and dead (suicide bombers).

There are no moderate muslims also. How can one be moderate when that person takes a membership of a cult that is NOT MODERATE? Muslims have a choice to leave Islam but if they are continuing their membership of this violent religion, how can we call them moderate? One does not have to be actually engaged in violent activities to be called extreme or terrorists. If you subscribe to an ideology that is intrinsically violent, then YOU ought to be called terrorists. Otherwise why are we blaming/hating all Nazi members? Some of them probably did not murder any one.

So, there are dormant muslims but not moderate muslims. why are we calling them moderate? because we are "comfortably dumb".

what's wrong with dormant muslims? It is because they have a full potential to be active muslims. Remember the life cycle of bacteria? They appear benign when they are few in numbers but when they cross their threshold, the symptom of sickness appears. The only solution left at that time is ANTIBIOTIC with full dose and course of time. Otherwise the disease relapses and bacteria become resistant to antibiotics.

India remains one of the most populated countries in the world with around 1.25 billion people in it,of which 80 Pct. are Hindu, but unfortunately it exceeds the "creating a problem line" of percentages when it comes to its Muslim population which is 13.5 Pct. which is more than France, or Britain is dealing with, thus you are more likely to see the occassional dhimmi out breaks from them, even though hundreds of thousands have died in skirmishes with Pakistan since the great division of 1947 that lead to the assassination of Ghandi.

Truthsake: Like the way you think. Your first post goes to the heart of the issue about so-called moderate Muslims. Previously here at JW on several occasions I have questioned the use of the term, "moderate Muslim." I have argued, much as you did, that Muslims are either active or passive (you used the word "dormant" which is basically the same thing). And even if a Muslim remains a dormant or passive follower of Mohammedanism all his life, one never knows if a child of his or some other relative will be filled with the spirit of Allah and go active. When that happens, watch out.

Often I preface "moderate Muslim" with "so-called" to indicate my inherent skepticism about the term. Yes, I know Ibn Warraq has that well known (and very true) line of his that "there are moderate Muslims but there is no moderate Islam," but if one knows anything about Ibn Warraq it's that he understands completely, quite thoroughly, what Islam is about. Speaking for myself, these so-called moderate Muslims are arguably more dangerous than active Muslims in that they convey by deed or word to way too many non-Muslims that Islam is OK after all (and if I have to hear one more fool say to me that he knows a few Muslims and they are very nice people, I think I may lose it for going on thirty seconds). I sometimes wish that virtually all Muslims were active practitioners of their malevolent creed because then it would become obvious to all (except to the Far Left loons) that Islam is indeed putrid to its very core. So-called moderate Muslims give Islam cover and that's not good.

Agree also with your second post about Islam's extraordinary capacity for love and compassion. People 'round the world experience it most every day to their great horror. As I've also written before here, Islam is a tremendous burden to the world and it's not going away anytime soon, although the thought of such a prospect as Islam's virtual disappearance feels me with joy and hope this Christmas season.

Pranab Mukherjee is right on all accounts: Moslem activists are the biggest human rights violators, they have no religion but instead have a world-takeover milito-politico belief system, and they have no boundary.

It's cold comfort to know that there are naive fools in India, just as there are elsewhere. My personal experience with my Indian colleagues is that they are much savvier about Islam than us Americans, though that's not saying much.

At the end, unfurl banners with Surah 9: 5 and 9:29, and a placard stating the 'Tears of Jihad' - some two hundred and seventy million non-Muslims sacrificed to allah so far in 1300 years = 200 000 human sacrifices a year and counting. Or a banner listing the most heinous recent jihadist mass murder events - Mumbai, Jaipur, New Delhi, Mumbai (train bombings), Beslan, London, Madrid, Bali, New York, Jerusalem (massacre at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva)...

Just so's you know: I am quite well aware of the bitter words that Maimonides, for example, had to say about Yeshua of Nazareth. Wellington, you have got me thinking about the aristocracy. They have been ridiculed, destroyed and replaced in power in England (and to a large degree in India). One might now wonder if the right thing was done, because new elites have appeared who never cease telling us how lucky we are to have them (and them only, thanks to the destruction of the House of Lords) as our "democratic" leaders. But is it possible that the old aristocrats might have had more incentive, and love of their countries, to confront this foe? As "custodians of tradition", might they not have been able to rouse the indigenous populace,which by the way they might not have allowed to be inundated with often hostile immigrants, rather than the new masters (Blair, Brown, etc) who clearly despise their own people more than any "aristocrat" ever did?

PG: I think you make a very good point. The old landed aristocracy existed because of service to the state. Honor and duty were as important to many of them as was the accumlation of land and money (nothing really the matter with altruism mixed with self-interest now and again-----to maintain otherwise arguably makes one guilty of embracing idealism to an unrealistic degree). The modern aristocracy in Western countries, though, is really based more on wealth and/or higher education. This plutocratic, degree oriented kind of aristocracy is a very different kettle of fish and seems to produce snobs rather than real elites who pull their nation in the right direction many more times than not. Certainly the old aristocracy, as you indicated, would be more cognizant of tradition, part of that spiritual glue that binds a people into a patriotic force. The new aristocracy is largely clueless here, especially if they're possessed of socialistic ideas (not for themselves, of course, but for everyone else). Well, that's my two cents worth for now.

"Protection" is something Muslims often talk about, but it means different things to them.

1)They ask for, insist on, protection from "Islamophobia", and what they mean is a special, heightened status, immunity from ramifications arising from the behaviour of their fellows who commit murder and mayhem.

2)Then there is the "protection" offered to non-Muslims in their countries. This is the kind of "protection" that we understand to be offered by extortionists, regular payments to avoid physical harm.
