Indonesia? -- that paradigm of Muslim tolerance and moderation? And the reason? A school teacher somehow or other -- it's often easily and unwittingly done -- "insulted" Islam, and was thus deemed a "blasphemer." But surely these enraged Muslims were among that "minority" of "misinterpreters" of Islam? Nope: it was Indonesia's ulema who "mobilized" the 500-strong Muslim throng, to "protest."

Violence ensued when Muslims accused a teacher of blasphemy. Police attempted to restore order in the Moluccan Islands of Indonesia, while stores and offices are closed.A group of 500 Muslims wreaked havoc and spread panic in Masohi, in the Moluccan Islands, during clashes with police and local Christians. As a result, 45 homes, a church and a village hall were set alight. The spark that set off the violence is an incident in which a teacher allegedly insulted Islam in front of some Muslim students.
Once the story spread, the local Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) mobilised, rallying some 500 people in front of the Central Maluku Education Agency. For more than an hour they protested, accusing the teacher of blasphemy and calling for his dismissal. Afterwards, the protesters marched to police headquarters near the school. When they were told that the police chief was out of town, most of the demonstrators left but a group remained to confront the police. The violence spread and resulted in the burning of Christian homes and a church.
News about the incident in Masohi spread across Seram Island and rekindled memories of the Moluccan War of 1999-2000 when Muslims and Christians clashed, with thousands of deaths. Police are on a heightened state of alert while stores and offices are closed as a precautionary measure. Law enforcement authorities have identified those responsible for the clashes. For his part the teacher who sparked the incident is currently in police custody.
Persecute Christians, Persecute Jews, Persecute Hindus, Persecute Buddhists and not to forget massacre and slaughter the whole lot of them like lambs to the wolves. The legacy of Islam. Destroy magnificent Temples, Monasteries, Churches and Synagogues. The excuses of Muslims is well remember the Gujarat riots or the state of Israel and the treatment of Palestinians by Jews or the US foreign policy is the cause of Muslims anger. No it is Islam and the fact that Muslims hate everything non Muslim that makes them boil with rage and the need to mass murder. This is a war that the rest of the Non Muslim world needs to see. It is not just elements of Islamic Jihadi but also Nation states that support them. All of them are accountable and should be summarily punished.
And yet the Bush administration has been allowing thousands of these humanoids infected with Islam into America every month. I'm getting a picture in my head of an American Islamic Thanksgiving feast. They will celebrate the new arrival of Muslims, starving and cold to the New World. Fed and clothed by the "natives". They can make symbolic wreaths out of welfare checks that their host provided them, to help cloth, feed and propagate. Oh what great times they will be. Many native Americans view Thanksgiving this way.

I'm kind of curious about the nature of the "insult". Did it, perhaps, have anything to do with the teacher's subject matter? Perhaps he/she was a math teacher, who was teaching, contrary to the Koran, that 2/3 + 1/3 + 1/8 does not equal 1? Or perhaps a science teacher, who taught, despite what the Koran says, that the Sun does not set each evening in a sea of mud?

I think you've alluded to this before on JW. I'm curious about where in the Qur'an it is stated that 2/3 + 1/3 + 1/8 = 1 (instead of the correct 9/8). It would be a very handy thing to be able to quote if the appropriate occasion arises. Thanks.

Chicago politics gets rather hot and has been known to include arson now and then I hear.
I doubt the usuper-in-chief will lose sleep over a Christian church burning to the ground after Jan 20 -- assuming he isn't in the clink with his Ol buddy Gov. Blogo!
It interesting how Mohammadans act up in similar ways no matter where they live, or what their primary racial make-up.

The Prophet Elect Obama (PBUH), has so much heavy baggage to drag with him to the White House, I'm not sure he will make it by Jan 20.
One or more of those bags can drag him down.
If I was the Prophet Elect Obama (PBUH) I would keep a copter warming up, a few suitcases of cash, and Hugo's cell phone number...just in case...
Now, if you leave Islam (I would think that would insult Allah, but maybe Allah is easier going than protrayed in the Qur'an), you wouldn't be killed right away. You'll be given a chance to recant and an effort will be made to determine if you are not insane. (of course, only crazy people leave Islam)
Now what happens if you insult Mohammed? You'll be killed right then and there.
What does this mean? It means in the power structure of Islam, Mohammed is more important than Allah. Strictly speaking, Muslims should be refered to as Mohammedans.

The worst rioting in the Molucca's was also started from a false rumor.
That's how they operate. Start a rumor, use it as an excuse to burn, opress the Christians -- it's a win win situation for them, because the government doesn't do anything to punish the Muslims, as long as there are no foreigners who got injured/killed.
The capture and trial of the Bali bombers was just to appease the west.
Hundreds of churches burned, people killed, property destroyed by the Muslims ....... none of the perpertrators have been arrested.
It wasn't too long ago when the theology school in Jakarta was attacked, again based on false rumor. Nobody was arrested, instead the school had to relocate to another place. HUH!!!!

Eastview, the math thing has to do with the distribution of inheritance. Surah 4:11-12 and 4:176 state the Qur'anic inheritance law. When a man dies, and is leaving behind three daughters, his two parents and his wife, they will receive the respective shares of 2/3 for the 3 daughters together, 1/3 for the parents together [both according to verse 4:11] and 1/8 for the wife [4:12] which adds up to more than the available estate. A second example: A man leaves only his mother, his wife and two sisters, then they receive 1/3 [mother, 4:11], 1/4 [wife, 4:12] and 2/3 [the two sisters, 4:176], which again adds up to 15/12 of the available property.
