Israel's UN ambassador: "The main goal is to destroy completely this terrorist gang" -- Hamas

Who could object? "Shalev: Israel seeks to 'destroy' Hamas," from AP, December 30 (thanks to Dan):

Israel will push forward with its offensive in the Gaza Strip until it "completely destroys" Hamas, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gabriela Shalev, said Monday, saying that the operation will continue as long as necessary to reach that goal....

Shalev expressed regret for civilian deaths in Gaza, but said Hamas was responsible for the bloodshed by operating in residential areas and using civilians as "human shields."

"We are very sorry, and really I say it as a mother, as a grandmother ... to speak of children and of women being killed," she said. But "it's only the Hamas to blame."

Shalev refused to discuss Israel's war strategy, but said the operation would continue "as long as it takes to dismantle Hamas completely."

"The main goal is to destroy completely this terrorist gang, which makes people on both sides of the border, in Gaza and in Israel, suffer daily," she said....

Shalev said Israel would not accept a return to the terms of the recent truce, which was repeatedly marred by sporadic Palestinian rocket fire. She noted that Hamas simply used the lull to restock its arsenal.

What a surprise! In Islamic theology, that's what a truce is for. But as everyone knows, Islamic theology illuminates nothing about this present conflict.

"What we want this time is a commitment and assurances that Hamas will not shoot any rockets and will not fire on Israeli citizens any more," she said.

Shalev said Israel is "concerned" about the international criticism, and has tried to send messages to the Arab world that it wants peace.

But of course, the Arab world doesn't want any peace except the peace of Sharia rule and dhimmitude for the Jews.

"But first of all, we have the right to defend ourselves and we have the duty to protect our citizens. This comes before the understanding, which we hope to receive, of the international community," she said.

Good luck with that.

If the people in Gaza are suffering from Hammas, it is their fault for voting for them. They have to take responsibility for allowing Hammas into their gov't. So let them suffer equally until Hammas is destroyed.

Let the international debate start.

Who will win in the court of international opinion?

The democratically elected-missile launching-suicide bombing- rock throwing-victim professing-press photo posing-children killing- righteously indignant- Muslim- Hamas government of Palestine
or
The democratically elected-aircraft bombing-check point blockading-"land stealing"-professed victimizing- children killing-finally got pushed too hard- Zionist government of Israel.

Kinda hard to justify military action as the US and Israel lose the propaganda war.
The below site is a hotbed of Jihadist sympathy full of Islamic apoligists and leftwing loons.

The carnage being dealt by the Israeli army on the poverished and virtually unarmed Gaza Strip has hit home for one family.

Seven sisters were asleep in their home which houses the family of 11 in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Unfortunately for them one of the hundreds of sites targeted by the Israeli army in their massive air raids of recent days included a nearby mosque.

As the mosque was reduced to rubble so too was the Balousha family's home.

Five of the seven girls were killed instantly in the attack, Jawaher aged 4, Dina, 8, Samar, 13, Ikram 14, and Tahrir, 17.

As is typical of the Israeli raids they came in the middle of the night striking terror into the hearts and minds of the 1.5 million population, 56% of which are children.

Samira Balousha, the 36 year old mother of the five girls killed on Sunday, was reported to be stricken with grief.

Anwar, 40, the father of the five girls was inconsolable. "We are civilians. I don't belong to any faction, I don't support Fatah or Hamas. I'm just a Palestinian," he said.

Yet another moral equivalizer we have here with "GrimReaperxxx." How tedious. Here's a thought, pal: Democracy must be accompanied by an enlightened moral system. If it isn't then you merely get majority rule and that's not real democracy, it's only a sham version of it. Israel has a real democracy. Gaza has the poster boy example of a sham democracy. And by the way, the Jews didn't steal the land. They bought it or won it in warfare designed to destroy the Israeli state. Wake up.

I wonder what the Balousha family was unaware of going on in the Mosque that the Israelis were?

The press never covers the level of proof necessary to strike a target like a Mosque.

There are no Muslim 'civilians'- that should be clear since the Mumbai massacre of the Chabad House and the (sexual) mutilation of the Jews.
