Muslims are being recruited for jihad right here in the United States, and the media and even the government appear to be too politically correct to care. "Jihad Made in the USA," by Patrick Poole at Pajamas Media, December 12 (thanks to Jerry Gordon):
The funeral for Shirwa Ahmed last week in Burnsville, Minnesota, punctuated a growing national security threat metastasizing inside the U.S. — one Homeland Security and law enforcement authorities have quickly taken note of. Ahmed, who killed himself in a suicide bombing attack in Somalia in October, is just one of up to 40 men from the Twin Cities area who have disappeared and are feared to have returned to their homeland for training with the al-Shabaab terrorist group to wage jihad.The FBI is investigating similar disappearances in other major Somali communities in Columbus, OH, Atlanta, Boston, San Diego, and Seattle. There are even reports coming from Europe, recently from Denmark, of Somali men returning home to fight with al-Shabaab and other terrorist organizations.
ABC News also reports that a Somali from Boston, Tarek Mehenna, a U.S. citizen, was arrested last month on his way to Somalia to wage jihad after being in contact with Daniel Maldonado, a Muslim convert currently in federal prison after pleading guilty to training at a Somali terror training camp after being captured in Kenya with a Somali terrorist cell.
Predictably, Somali leaders in many of these cities are claiming surprise and shock that anyone from their communities and mosques would be leaving the U.S. for jihad. But as Daveed Gartenstein-Ross explained in a Fox News report, there exists an active recruiting and transportation network in the U.S., including Minneapolis, for Somali-run terrorist training camps, many of which have recently reopened. In many instances, these same Somali leaders purporting ignorance and innocence for the local media are not only aware of these recruiting operations, but have actively participated in them.
A year ago I reported here at Pajamas Media (”Homeland Insecurity: Terrorist Fundraising in the Heartland“) on a November 2007 jihadist fundraising and recruiting event held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Minneapolis, featuring two high-ranking representatives of the Eritrean-based Alliance for the Re-Liberation of Somalia (ARS). The event was sponsored by local organizations. Homeland Security officials were warned in advance of the attendance of the two ARS officials, but no effort was made to prevent their entry into the U.S. They later conducted another event in the Washington, DC, area at the Days Inn in Falls Church, VA, which was also sponsored by Somali organizations in Virginia, Minnesota, and Ohio.
One U.S. Somali leader, Abdurahman Warsame, executive director of the Terror Free Somalia Foundation, expressed his amazement that the ARS officials would even be allowed to enter the country, let alone be able to openly conduct fundraising and recruiting for jihad:
This event was definitely intended to organize and mobilize the extreme elements of the Somali community here to support the armed struggle against the internationally recognized Somali government and oppose U.S. foreign policy. [Columbus resident Nuradin] Abdi was openly calling for jihad and directing supporters to use the underground hawala networks to circumvent U.S. controls to prevent terrorism financing overseas. These funds will be used to support the insurgency that is killing civilians, civil servants, and anyone who works for or with the government, in order to further weaken the country and open the doors for foreign terrorists to take control of the country. Why would this man be allowed in the U.S.?A year later, however, the local media are scratching their heads in wonderment about what has been happening right under their noses. And the same Homeland Security and law enforcement officials who had taken a laissez faire approach to these fundraising and recruiting events are finally reexamining these activities. One Homeland Security official I spoke with last week even cited last year’s Minneapolis event as one of the tipping points in radicalizing certain segments of the local Somali community....

Teen disappears: 'Mom, I'm in Somalia'
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (CNN) -- Last month, 17-year-old Burhan Hassan told his family he was catching a ride to school with a friend. He then vanished.

1 of 2 His mother spoke to her son just a few days ago over the phone. To her shock, she says, he told her he was no longer in the United States.
"Mom, I'm in Somalia! Don't worry about me; I'm OK," the mother quoted her son as saying.
Details of how he got there and what has transpired in his life since his November disappearance are sketchy. His mother, who agreed to be identified only as Amina, says her son has clearly changed.

Hassan is one of more than a dozen young men of Somali descent -- many U.S. citizens -- to have disappeared from Minneapolis over the past six months, according to federal law enforcement authorities. Authorities say young men have also disappeared in Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; and Columbus, Ohio.
"A number of young Somali men have traveled from throughout the United States to include Minneapolis to Somalia, potentially to fight," said FBI Special Agent E.K. Wilson.
Amina speaks about her son in the past tense, almost as if he were dead. She worries about him night and day.

The fear among the Somali community in Minneapolis is that their young men are being preyed upon and recruited to fight jihad, or holy war, in Somalia. Some have even called to tell their parents not to look for them.
"Those I talked to were completely shocked and dismayed as to what happened. They were completely in disbelief," said Omar Jamal of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center, based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The shock is magnified by what happened to one of them: Authorities say a 27-year-old named Shirwa Ahmed blew himself up in an apparent suicide bombing in northern Somalia in October.
Amina doesn't like to think about that and refuses to believe that her son could be learning similar tactics.
She and her son lived in an apartment along the Mississippi River in a thriving Somali neighborhood in Minneapolis. Hassan's father died years ago, and she raised him as a single parent. Hassan's other siblings have all moved out.
"I'm feeling empty tonight, like I have [nothing]," she said.
Amina says she now forgets to cook. It's gotten so bad that when she's out shopping, she'll often feel that her son is back home again. She'll quickly return, only to remember he's still away.
She struggles when she recalls how smart he is and how he was studying to become a doctor. Holding up a copy of his high school class schedule, which includes Advanced Placement courses in mathematics, chemistry and biology, she says Hassan was to graduate in May.
He wanted to attend college in Arizona, and he wanted her to move there with him.
"He was planning to be a physician assistant. He told me to move ... to Arizona because he said in Arizona, we can get [those jobs] as soon as possible after graduating," she said. "His expectations were high."
She added, "He doesn't like to fight. Sometimes, he was a comedian. He likes to laugh or to say things that make you laugh. He was a very kind person."
Amina says her son has called a few times, most recently Saturday. She says that each time, it feels as if her son is being watched or listened to by at least one or two other men, because she can hear other voices in the background.
"It's like a kidnapped person. And he has no freedom, because if he said, 'Mom, I have to leave here; I have no life,' then they would kill him."
The question that plagues Amina and just about everyone in Minneapolis' Somali community is: How could these young men who were well-educated and who stayed out of trouble in the United States wind up in war-torn Somalia, possibly as fighters?
In Hassan's case, his mother fled the nation when she was pregnant with him, and they eventually came to the United States to escape the country's violence. She says her son's demeanor changed a couple months before he disappeared. He became more withdrawn, and she doesn't know why.
Other local Somalis have voiced concern that, because a large number of the men missing attended the same Islamic center after school, it could have played a role.
Amina does not believe the center itself played a role but thinks there are certain people associated with it who may be involved.
On Monday, representatives of the mosque, Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center, held a news conference to address the issue. The mosque's attorney, Mahir Sherif, strongly denied any allegations that it is connected to the men's disappearance, saying the center "has not and will not recruit for any political cause."
"I haven't talked to any of them [since the stories came out]. I haven't seen any of them fighting," Sherif said. "I mean, I would be speculating. I'm hearing what everybody else hears."
Amina keeps hoping her son will return and that somebody in the community will come forward with more information.
"I'm asking for those who took my son or know anything about it to come forward. I'm asking you kindly to help and facilitate how to make possible to return [him]. Most sincerely."
So, perhaps as many as 40 Somalis from Minneapolis gone back home to fight, as well as others from Boston, Seattle, Columbus, etc. Is it too much to hope that the Somalis settled in these various cities represent various mutually antagonistic clans or factions, and that once back in Somalia, will engage in some Mutually Assured Destruction?
The main thing is to be sure they don't get back into the U.S.
Why are their bodies brought back to the US?
They should be buried where they fall.
We should not permit those who fight against us to pollute the ground of America.

Slightly off topic but perhaps of interest, this weekend I came across a UM-Minnesota Extension site that advised recently settled Somalis on how to adjust to life in the mid-west, usual advice about winter, etc but the site also reminded Somalis that the Koran forbids then to eat non-halal meat and went on to say:

I emailed the Director pointing out amoung other things that the tax paying farmers of Minn. would probably not appreciate this and the page was removed right away (Thank you Director!)

Jihad in this context means to wage war against non-muslims, or against a sect that differs in what is followed, by those who are called to fight as islamic warriors.
I would suggest in stories such as this, that when the word jihad is used, the addition of terms as " or to fight islamic war", or "islamic war" would make it crystal clear to many who are new, or first time readers.
To many americans, jihad means a blank stare, but "soldiers" or "islamic warriors" is directly understood.
It may help the learning process for all.

Today I wrote to an organization called OIM...they take refugees and move them to Western countries.
I have asked them to stop bringing Somali refugees into the United States.
I travel to Brussels once a year for business and EVERY time I come back to the U.S....I have personally witnessed this group bringing loads of Somali refugees into the U.S. on the plane.....women clad in full brown burkas, men in rag tag suits, and kids too.
They keep them sequestered so the regular travelers don't see them and they also wait until everyone else has picked up their bags before the Somalis bags are removed at the luggage claim (the Somalis luggage has OIM tags on them).
Seems they don't want to bring attention to them.
Is there a way to protest this group, OIM?
They are a major reason these groups of barbarians are being brought here.

I got stranded at the bus station last night in Burnsville, MN and was forced to call a taxi to get back to my car. I was never so happy as to have a Nigerian Christian man with a family of five daughters that he doted on as my driver. I wished him a Merry Christmas and tipped him a fiver.
Before getting through to a large taxi service with an English-speaking dispatcher, I had to call FOUR different numbers, each time being connected to a non-native speaker who either didn't want the "gig", but would happily refer me to another number (I'd ask...'what company is this?', which they would ignore). The number would be answered with "Hello?". Nice. Just who I want to call in the nighttime in the dead of winter.
The entire industry is being commandeered, and I truly feel that the populating of parking ramps, bus lines, and taxis with Somalis is not an accident. These are service-related, non-skilled positions, that do not require direct interaction with kuffir or their bodily functions (food service, cleaning service, etc.).

The moment these places are known to have recruited for, or incited to, jihad, especially when men associated with them/ known to have attended them, are arrested and convicted of plotting jihad within the United States, they should be shut down. Permanently. And, after being searched intensively from attic to basement, bulldozed flat; and the land resumed by the state, for sale only to non-Muslim persons or organisations.
If a Muslim, or convert to Islam, who is a 'citizen' of an Infidel state, is discovered to be inciting to, plotting, or attempting to carry out jihad within that state or anywhere else in the world, then that person's citizenship of that Infidel state should simply...cease to exist. A similar nullification of citizenship should follow upon such things as the contracting or solemnisation of a polygynous marriage, solemnisation or contracting of marriage to an underage girl, and any other practice of aspects of sharia that directly and grossly violate western civil and criminal law.
If a mosque within an Infidel state is discovered and demonstrated to have been associated with the incitement, planning, or actual carrying out of jihad - or if its personnel are found to have engaged in significant criminal activity (i.e. if falsified passports or drugs or weapons are found on its premises or the premises of its authority figures), or if its imam, etc., has been associated with such activities as forced marriage of underage girls, or solemnisation of polygynous marriages, or the sheltering of 'honor' murderers, etc., then that mosque, also, after thorough forensic examination, documentation, etc., should simply...cease to exist.
I agree completely. Its assests should be seized too. And since every mosque and Islamic school where this has happened has been connected to the Ikhwan they should be shut down, banned, and ther have their assets seized.

BUT that won't be possible as long as most Americans believe that Islam comes under the protection of the First Amendment, i.e., is a religion just like Christianity, Judaism, etc. Figure out how to dispel that delusion and we'll have won more than half the war.
