Muslims bring child slaves to the U.S.

This story makes no mention of Islam, but it is Islam that enables this practice to continue: the Qur'an takes slavery for granted, and there has never been an anti-slavery movement in the Islamic world. It is only in the Islamic world that slavery is still practiced and tolerated. "Child maid trafficking spreads from Africa to US," by Rukmini Callimachi for Associated Press, December 28 (thanks to Islam In Action):

IRVINE, Calif. – Late at night, the neighbors saw a little girl at the kitchen sink of the house next door.

They watched through their window as the child rinsed plates under the open faucet. She wasn't much taller than the counter and the soapy water swallowed her slender arms. To put the dishes away, she climbed on a chair.

But she was not the daughter of the couple next door doing chores. She was their maid.

Shyima was 10 when a wealthy Egyptian couple brought her from a poor village in northern Egypt to work in their California home. She awoke before dawn and often worked past midnight to iron their clothes, mop the marble floors and dust the family's crystal. She earned $45 a month working up to 20 hours a day. She had no breaks during the day and no days off.

The trafficking of children for domestic labor in the U.S. is an extension of an illegal but common practice in Africa. Families in remote villages send their daughters to work in cities for extra money and the opportunity to escape a dead-end life. Some girls work for free on the understanding that they will at least be better fed in the home of their employer.

The custom has led to the spread of trafficking, as well-to-do Africans accustomed to employing children immigrate to the U.S. Around one-third of the estimated 10,000 forced laborers in the United States are servants trapped behind the curtains of suburban homes, according to a study by the National Human Rights Center at the University of California at Berkeley and Free the Slaves, a nonprofit group. No one can say how many are children, especially since their work can so easily be masked as chores.

Once behind the walls of gated communities like this one, these children never go to school. Unbeknownst to their neighbors, they live as modern-day slaves, just like Shyima, whose story is pieced together through court records, police transcripts and interviews.

"I'd look down and see her at 10, 11 — even 12 — at night," said Shyima's neighbor at the time, Tina Font. "She'd be doing the dishes. We didn't put two and two together."
___

Shyima cried when she found out she was going to America in 2000. Her father, a bricklayer, had fallen ill a few years earlier, so her mother found a maid recruiter, signed a contract effectively leasing her daughter to the couple for 10 years and told Shyima to be strong.

For a year, Shyima, 9, worked in the Cairo apartment owned by Amal Motelib and Nasser Ibrahim. Every month, Shyima's mother came to pick up her salary.

Tens of thousands of children in Africa, some as young as 3, are recruited every year to work as domestic servants. They are on call 24 hours a day and are often beaten if they make a mistake. Children are in demand because they earn less than adults and are less likely to complain. In just one city — Casablanca — a 2001 survey by the Moroccan government found more than 15,000 girls under 15 working as maids.

The U.S. State Department found that over the past year, children have been trafficked to work as servants in at least 33 of Africa's 53 countries. Children from at least 10 African countries were sent as maids to the U.S. and Europe. But the problem is so well hidden that authorities — including the U.N., Interpol and the State Department — have no idea how many child maids now work in the West.

"In most homes, these girls are not allowed to use so much as the same spoon as the rest of the family," said Hany Helal, the Cairo-based director of the Egyptian Organization for Child Rights.

By the time the Ibrahims decided to leave, Shyima's family had taken several loans from them for medical bills. The Ibrahims said they could only be repaid by sending Shyima to work for them in the U.S. A friend posed as her father, and the U.S. embassy in Cairo issued her a six-month tourist visa.

She arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Aug. 3, 2000, according to court documents. The family brought her back to their spacious five-bedroom, two-story home, decorated in the style of a Tuscan villa with a fountain of two angels spouting water through a conch. She was told to sleep in the garage.

It had no windows and was neither heated nor air-conditioned. Soon after she arrived, the garage's only light bulb went out. The Ibrahims didn't replace it. From then on, Shyima lived in the dark.

She was told to call them Madame Amal and Hajj Nasser, terms of respect. They called her "shaghala," or servant. Their five children called her "stupid."

While the family slept, she ironed the school outfits of the Ibrahims' 5-year-old twin sons. She woke them, combed their hair, dressed them and made them breakfast. Then she ironed clothes and fixed breakfast for the three girls, including Heba, who at 10 was the same age as the family's servant.

Neither Ibrahim nor his wife worked, and they slept late. When they awoke, they yelled for her to make tea.

While they ate breakfast watching TV, she cleaned the palatial house. She vacuumed each bedroom, made the beds, dusted the shelves, wiped the windows, washed the dishes and did the laundry.

Her employers were not satisfied, she said. "Nothing was ever clean enough for her. She would come in and say, 'This is dirty,' or 'You didn't do this right,' or 'You ruined the food,'" said Shyima.

She started wetting her bed. Her sheets stank. So did her oversized T-shirt and the other hand-me-downs she wore.

While doing the family's laundry, she slipped her own clothes into the load. Madame slapped her. "She told me my clothes were dirtier than theirs. That I wasn't allowed to clean mine there," she said.

She washed her clothes in a bucket in the garage. She hung them to dry outside, next to the trash cans.

When the couple went out, she waited until she heard the car pull away and then she sat down. She sat with her back straight because she was afraid her clothes would dirty the upholstery.

It never occurred to her to run away.

"I thought this was normal," she said....

For millions, such is "normality." Damn slavers and other vile parasites! Damn Islamic acceptance of slavery and involuntary (do any really have a choice?) sevitude!

Typo: read, "servitude."

What a revelation and liberation for poor, humble Shyima! Now she knows the freedom to be an American! May the legacy of the Great Emancipator transform the World!

Another benefit of the multiculti society being forced on us. It reminds me of the story of the woman who bought a monkey. Her husband was not pleased and asked her, where will the monkey eat?

The monkey will eat at our table with us, she said.

But dear, where will the monkey sleep?

The monkey will sleep in our bed with us she replied.

The man blew up, what about the smell? he exclaimed.

Well I got used to it and the monkey will too.

(send the monkey back to the pet shop.)

:-/
Where is CAIR when we need them? Or will this be another "cultural thing" totally "against Islam"?

How long until people outlaw the pedophilic religion?

Another thing about this story: the enslavers of this girl didn't work, yet lived very well in a big house. How is this kind of thing happening?

That caught my eye too. This was Irvine CA I assume from the story, not the UK. So where does a free house come from?

It's a compelling story - DO read it all.

The story ends in a confusuing way. What happened to that new slave? Did the AP reporter just ignore it, apart from writing about it?

Also, the idea that this couple gets a few years in a jail is a joke. They should get something approaching life.

-- from the story above

The Ibrahims somehow received visas to come to America. Apparently they were not students, nor were they employed. What did they live on? Did they receive any benefits from the Federal or state government? Were they simply part of Egypt's corrupt ruling class that has diverted so much of the American aid to their own use, for that aid simply provides the money for, actually funds, the corruption that in the end leads to instability and resentment of the American supplier of such money so obviously appropriated by a very few?

The story of the enslaved little girl is not unusual. Such stories are frequently reported, then quickly hushed up by the well-paid lawyers of the Saudis and Kuwaitis and others who normally are involved. For slavery is practiced all over the Gulf states, even if in theory a tiny sum is given to what is supposed to be an "employee." And the employers, these spoiled Saudis and other Gulf Arabs, even can dispense, without fear of prosecution, of those who might report on other forms of abuse, including the widespread sexual exploitation, by the Arabs, of their domestic servants, especially those from Asia. Islam is legalistic and merely requires outward adherence to the rules, rules as to what Allah prohibits and what he commands. There is no need for the development, in this collectivist faith, for any exercise of the individual moral imagination, and there is no need, really no mechanism for, the development of a moral sense. And the history of Islam, that most "retrograde" of faiths, as Churchill put it, shows this: there is an amazing inability even to begin to comprehend the rights, the claims, the autonomy, of the individual, or certainly, of any non-Muslims who are simply regarded as there to be exploited by Muslims, for they exist merely on sufferance, the sufferance of Muslims.

In this case the only unusual feature is that the slave-holders were Egyptians, not Saudis or Kuwaitis or other rich Gulf Arabs, and that they appear to have no visible means of support. Could they have been living on the American dole, directly (through state benefits) or indirectly (through a cut, as members of the privileged class, of the American aid money sent to Egypt)?

There is much more to this story that needs to be found out. And the Ibrahims, one hopes, have been, or soon will be, deported from this country, never to return, and whatever assets can be reached, seized and used both to reimburse the state for all expenses it has has incurred from dealing with them, with any left over given to the slave-child in question.

the failure to provide a mechanism for moral development -- is story, one of many -- about the slavery practiced by Arabs and Muslims even when they go abroad to America or England (so one can just imagine how widespread the practice must be, how much it is taken for granted, inside the Arab countries).

And as muslims spread there will be no way to escape.

Did they pay her the money?

We need to find an alternative to oil.

It never occurred to her to run away.

"I thought this was normal," she said....And she didn't even know that she a right to be treated better!

How many of these slaves are in various Moslem homes throughout the West? There's no way to tabulate the numbers, as far as I can tell.

And like Hugh said, why were they in the US? It doesn't say.

It says enough to me about the state of border controls and checks on American territory. That such scum should be allowed to live like some Saudi royalty while enslaving a defenseless girl simply beggars belief.

The short prison sentences given to the slaves of allah are also another reason for concern. Shouldn't such cruelty be punished rigorously? Or are US judges and juries getting wimpy when it comes to determining the length of prison sentences, like those Europeans who love to handle criminals with kids' gloves and blame society alone for their offenses?

This is as nauseating as the stories in my first and second books about about this depravity inflicted on little girls by Muslim followers of the God of Hate, Depravity, and Slaughter. The worst part is that it is all true. There is not on one shred of exaggeration in such accounts.

I hear stories all the time from women who were deceived into marriage to these . . .superior males. . .and the unbelievable shabbiness to which these women and their children are subjected is the stuff of movies such as "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"

These creatures should dragged in chains through the streets and subjected to the same treatment which they are so quick to inflict on others. Then they should be shipped back to the Middle East.

The bottom line is, which is more important: your wish to think well of everyone--or the safety and well-being of yourself, your children, and your fellow Americans?

I grew up in the sleepy small town of Germantown, MD, which is mentioned in this article. I cringed and had a chill run up my spine when I read about the 2001 case with the Nigerians lying and using their child's passport. Would any of you be suprised to know that there wasn't huge media coverage regarding this scandal? I had to think for a moment, and in fact, I don't even remember this making the local gazette there. I could be wrong, but even still, it's not as though the local news stations were making a big what to do about either... Prime example of how the barbaric Islamic practices are being brought to a town near you!

They might have being wealth coptic christian who have thab slave.

welcome to Mr Spencer's Virtual Hedge School of the Resistance to Jihad and Sharia. We'll all look forward to your participation and insights.

We recently acquired another new poster here - lorfalcon - who herself escaped from marriage to an Arab Muslim.

I read Phyllis Chesler's brilliant review of your books; and another poster, jdamn, has also been singing your praises.

I haven't bought them yet, I'm afraid, but they're on my must-get-sometime list. I need to get them - I have two daughters and I want them to be well and truly forewarned against any Mohammedan males that they may encounter.

The bad news about Islam and what it does to women and kids needs to go viral among the 'soccer moms' of the USA - and among their equivalents in other Infidel lands.

Once that happens we'll be halfway to victory.

Mohammad had slaves.

Therefore slavery, for Mohammedans, is just fine.

Forever.

Islam: enshrined cruelty.

This story just sent chills down my spine. I heard about a Saudi couple busted for keeping a slave, an Indonesian I believe. The Saudi male exercised his allah-given right to rape and beat his slave, as well as imprison her. How can people be so cruel?

As I recall, the Saudis were completely bewildered over all the fuss about their "slave" and defended the practice as perfectly legal, normal, and prevalent in Saudi society. Obviously he intended to practice his abhorrent culture in America whether it violated our laws or not. I think the Saudi Embassy intervened on behalf of the couple and they were deported instead of sentenced to prison.

I know that every society has cruel, decadent, corrupt and dishonest people as well as violent sociopaths, but islamic societies seem to have more than their fair share. The only problem is that these nefarious traits are considered virtues by muslims and they consider themselves paragons of morality. In islam, evil is good and good is evil.

I'm surprised to see that "duh-fend'r of izzlum" didn't resort to the usual muslim blame-game when it comes to naming the culprits responsible for crimes committed by muslims, by suggesting that those slaves of allah who kept the poor girl as their own slaves were in fact Jews.
