Ahmed Mohamed is one of the two University of South Florida students whom then-CAIR flack Ahmed Bedier claimed were just "naive kids" with some fireworks. Fifteen years in the slammer, eh, Bedier? Those fireworks must have packed quite a wallop!

TAMPA, Fla. – An Egyptian student attending a Florida university was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday for making a YouTube video showing would-be terrorists how to turn a remote-control toy into a bomb detonator.U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday said the public needed to be protected from 27-year-old Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed, who made the video "to empower others through his teaching to deliver death, destruction and, at the very least, panic."
Merryday handed the maximum sentence to the former University of South Florida graduate student, brushing aside his attorneys' pleas for leniency and the minimum eight-year sentence.
"This is an intelligent man who made a very bad mistake," one his attorneys, Linda Moreno, said afterward. "This is a sad day."...
I wonder if Ahmed Mohamed really views his jihad as a mistake.
As part of a plea agreement, Mohamed pleaded guilty in June to providing material support to terrorism.The video was found on a laptop computer in the car he was driving when pulled over near Charleston, S.C., in August 2007. Prosecutor Robert Monk said the 12-minute clip got nearly 800 hits before it was removed from the video-sharing site, but there was no evidence that anyone used it to do harm.
In the video, Mohamed demonstrates how to convert a remote-controlled car from Wal-Mart into a bomb detonator. He speaks in Arabic, saying he wants to teach "martyrdoms" and "suiciders" how to save themselves so they can continue to fight invaders, including U.S. soldiers.
"Instead of the brethren going to, to carry out martyrdom operations, no, may God bless him, he can use the explosion tools from a distance and preserve his life ... for the real battles," he says, according to a translation in the plea agreement.
During the nearly six-hour hearing, Monk painted Mohamed as a radical Muslim who hates America and "embraces a violent and extreme ideology." His attorneys acknowledged that he was a young student with unpopular political views who made a stupid mistake, but noted that he never hurt anyone....

Mohamed and fellow Egyptian student Youssef Samir Megahed were arrested after deputies in Goose Creek, S.C., found what they described as explosives in the trunk. Mohamed claimed they were ingredients for homemade fireworks he planned to shoot off on his birthday.

Deputies also found the laptop with the video and other files containing videos of rockets and exploding American military vehicles.The arrests perpetuated the University of South Florida's reputation as "Jihad U," a nickname coined after an Egyptian professor, Sami Al-Arian, was charged with raising money for terrorist attacks by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He ended up pleading guilty to one count of aiding terrorists and agreed to deportation....
Our universities are importing these monsters in droves. They don't have to be qualified, or decent human beings, or reasonably intelligent, or capable of behaving better than anti-Semitic/sexist badgers, or capable of conjugating "do" and "be" in simple constructions. They just have to be Arab and apply, even if they are retarded and believe the Earth is flat, even if they're applying to PhD programs, even if they graduated from 3rd-world diploma mills at 17. $100 says he was in the MSA/U.

So long as it's for the cause of allah (the imaginary), a muslim can never do any wrong, can he?
This reminded me of what jdamn once wrote about how any concept or notion of personal responsibility for one's actions doesn't exist in islam.
Muslims never apologize for anything, never acknowledge mistakes, they might just get a bit embarrassed and/or angry if they're thwarted before they've carried out an infidel-murdering mission, or if their taqqiya is exposed by someone who doesn't fall for the blatant lies contained in their evasive double-speak.
Am I right in getting the feeling that attitudes are hardening towards these 'kids'? I sure hope so. America must defend itself.

Egypt plays both sides against the middle 'vis a vis' the U.S./Israel and the Iranian/Muslim Brotherhood -Supported Hamas TERROR BASE known as Gaza; and that's with Mubarak in power.
What about After Mubarak?
Oh, Egypt is more dangerous than Pakistan in a way because they smuggle weapons into Gaza, and because, due to Saudi petrodollars and Arab supremacy, we give these people student visas even though it is not possible to obtain even a kindergarten education in Egypt. We hold Pakis to some standards, but never, ever Arabs, not to any standard, be it moral, ethical, legal, academic, or intellectual. Ever.
After Mubarak the Ikhwan will run the show. There will be no playing both sides. I would argue that we would be in better shape if they were run by the Ikhwan because they wouldn't be able to pose as moderate in the US, since people just refuse to believe that Hamas is the Ikhwan. The Ikhwan will kill bloggers, not just imprison them indefinitely like Mubarak. Egyptians are more Judeophobic than anyone else and always have been, even the Saudis, and they hate women more than any oher Muslims except maybe the Somalis. No other nation has a 97% rate of FGM except maybe Somalia. Any and all positive aspects of Egypt, and there are some (Nonie Darwish, Bat Ye'or, Mark Gabriel, and Sandmonkey are all Egyptian and I adore them all), are 100% due to the Christian presence there.
