Olmert to Gazans: "Don't let Hamas, which is acting against the values of Islam, put you in danger"

Olmert, in his belief that Hamas "is acting against the values of Islam" (which ones? As established by what authorities, in what way, in what sources?), apparently thinks that the Vast Majority of Peaceful Gazans -- you know, the people who elected Hamas in the first place -- will rise up and stop the rocket barrage that could lead to an imminent Israeli invasion of Gaza.

"Israel warns Hamas over rockets," from the BBC, December 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Israeli leaders have issued stern warnings to Palestinian militant group Hamas to stop rocket attacks on Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he would not hesitate to strike Hamas and another militant group, Islamic Jihad, in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned Israel "cannot tolerate" Palestinian militants targeting Israeli citizens.

Some 50 rockets have been launched from Gaza in recent days, after the killing of three Hamas members by Israel. [...]

"Hamas needs to understand that our aspiration to live in peace doesn't mean that Israel is going to take this kind of situation any longer. Enough is enough," she said. [...]

Mr Olmert called on residents of Gaza to stop militants "firing on innocent civilians", in an interview with the Arab television station Al-Arabiya.

"I say to you in a last-minute call, stop it," Mr Olmert said, Israeli media reported.

"Don't let Hamas, which is acting against the values of Islam, put you in danger. Stop them. Stop your enemies and ours."

Mr Olmert added: "I will not hesitate to use Israel's might to strike Hamas and [Islamic] Jihad. How? I will not go into details now."...

'Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he would not hesitate to strike Hamas and another militant group, Islamic Jihad, in the Gaza Strip.' Is he frickken kidding us? Who hasn't lost count on how many times he's hesitated?..... 'Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned Israel "cannot tolerate" Palestinian militants targeting Israeli citizens.' WHAT??!! These people are incredible, I mean incredible as in I can't, no matter how hard I try to, believe anything they say or think of them as rational.

It is time for Israel to "put up or shut up". they wanted the UN to understand they wanted peace. Well either the UN does not believe them or does not care. Probably the latter, so Israel will face more condemnation from the United Nincompoops(aka United Nations) for trying to protect themselves and their people.

Hamas NEVER lived up to the peace treaty in the first place. Israel did not enter or strike first during that time, but that is just Western propaganda, right? Islam will never take the responsibility for their own actions. As Mr .Spence said in a former post,"It is all your fault!".

So much for the "Religion of Peace"!

I wonder how all the "moderate" Muslims would feel if the West (and Israel) were to play by their rules. In other words, we give them the opportunity to stop (Islam mandates that the terrorists must ask the subjects to convert to Islam before attacking), then after they refuse, we use our technological advantage to just blow the living shit out of them -- military and civilians alike.

Granted, Muslims cry and say this happens all the time. What they fail to acknowledge is that they believe these rules are fair ONLY when applied to Muslims.

If Muslims are so convinced that their way of life is the best way; the way of the world -- then I say we play by their rules. After all, their rules always favor those in power. The West has the power -- let's finish this once and for all.

And start with the Israelis. It would take Israel longer to fuel its jets than it would for them to overrun the Middle East.

As a side note: I spoke with one of my Jewish friends here in South Florida last week. He made a good point when I asked him about the hatred of Israel. He said, "They're scared. Plain and simple. They (the Arab states) can blame their problems on Israel's existence, but if they were to overrun Israel, what would they gain? They (Arab states) still have no technology, no infrastructure, no education....and that's why they don't. They talk...and that's all. That's all they'll ever do."

Olmert did not have to say that Islam explains the endless hostility toward Israel. That would be asking too much, and at this point it would not be an intelligent thing to say. But it would be intelligent to grasp that truth, and to fashion policies based on that truth. He could, and should, in any statement have left Islam out of it. But he did something still worse. Olment mentioned Islam, and claimed, on the basis of no detailed knowledge whatsoever, to exculpate Islam. In this respect he was not different from some others, such as Bush and Rice, or Blair, who keep thinking that they must say nice things about Islam even if they don't know what they are talking about, mainly because they know that Islam is a "religion," even "one of the world's great religions" (why not for the word "great" substitute the more accurate word "major" and for the word "religion" substitute the ungainly but more accurate "belief-system"?), and if it is "one of the world's major religions, with more than a billion adherents, so their thinking goes, it must be okay, surely what it inculcates must be fine, for "religions" are fine, and they all mean pretty much -- don't they? -- the same thing, because, you see, People Are The Same The Whole World Over. Surely Islam cannot be the explanation for the intolerable aggression and violence and hostility and mendaciousness of so many Muslims, of which the main victim are the world's Infidels, though other Muslims have also been known to suffer. And Olmert, pathetic, confused, desperate, blind, stupid, Olmert, is...just Olmert. The schlemiel as head of state. Even his corruption was pathetic: those expensive cigars, those occasional trips with stays in fancy hotels. A comical figure, pitiful but not to be pitied. Too many people far better than he died in Lebanon, and perhaps will die in the future, because of Olmert and the likes of Olmert.

Olmert once said of Israelis: "we are tired of winning; we are tired of defeating our enemies."

No statement ever uttered was more idiotic. The alternative to "winning" is to revisit genocide upon the Jewish people.

Just over 2000 yrs ago, the son of man was born, to rid mankind of sin. Just over 600 yrs ago, satan spawned his seed in a murderus pedophile. And the dhimmis of the lands which fought for so many thousands of years for survival, are now giving up. Our hearts break. Merry Christmas, my friends.

Wow. The guy at HAMAS is absolutely correct -- let's give the devil his due (heh) when a mere three topics ago, he had this to say:

"The enemy is in a state of confusion and doesn't know what to do,"

Let's examine this statement in more detail:

"The enemy" -- Israel, as the signpost, the proxy, the representative, the bearer of values and priorities? Check.

"is in a state of confusion" -- its leader, AllMerde, somehow believes in a distinction between the all-benevolent, all-tolerant, great religion of Islam, and violent thugs plotting to do him in, with the backing of states reaching all the way back to the notorious Axis of Evil member, Iran, Khomeini's Iran, Khomeini, he of all the truths about Islam, how it is a serious fighting religion, no fun or mercy allowed, also a few months or a few years away from attaining a nuclear bomb? Check.

"and doesn't know what to do" Any explanation needed here? Have you ever noticed how people who are lost drive really, really slow? ARRRGGGH!

Yep. The guy from Hamas is right. But let's not confuse us as to imagining that this means he should get his way -- not at all. I see a more robust leader, along the lines of Netanyahu, taking the reins of power in Israel soon. Hopefully soon enough.

Thanks Goob. Your "Allmerde" comment made me spew coffee all over my new monitor!

LOL!!

Islam can not bemoderate, there is no
extreem Islam. There is only one Islam
and its moto: Din Muhamad be Seif! meaning
muhamad religion bu sward, either you
become muslim or we behead you , and
all the rest has no meaning. A retardef mediavle
culture with one wish: go back 1500 years
and the problem is that they all believe that
in the end they will get there.

Ah yes, Olmert. "Float like a bee and sting like a butterfly".

I respect your opinion very much, but I disagree totally with the derisory nature of this post.

Mr Olmert spoke in a conciliatory tone about the "values of Islam" because he understands that pouring scorn and abuse on the very people you are trying to negotiate with will NOT produce favourable results. He is being a diplomat, and I applaud his tact.

Sadly, it seems he partially reversed this stance yesterday. I wrote an article just now about on riverScrap.com which discusses how the Israeli PM has issued an indirect threat to the wellbeing of Palestinian children. Hardly a move that is likely to lessen the sense of injustice Palestinian militants rightly or wrongly feel.

I know emotions run high on this issue, but let's be realistic about the need to bite our tongues sometimes! You're never gonna reach peace in the Middle East if both sides continue to insult and goad each other for their own gratification.

Merry Christmas btw :)
