ISTANBUL, December 16 (Compass Direct News) – After a judge yesterday placed new financial and social pressure on the captors of a Pakistani girl who was kidnapped and converted to Islam, attorneys have guarded optimism they can return her to custody of her Christian parents.Judge Malik Saeed Ijaz ordered the girl’s husband, Amjad Ali, to pay a dowry of 100,000 rupees (US$1,275) and allow her parents visitation rights, two actions required by typical Pakistani marriage protocol. At press time he had done neither.
The judge gave Saba Masih, 13, the opportunity to talk with her family during yesterday’s hearing, but she remained mostly silent behind her veil, offering only blunt replies.
“I don’t want to see my parents. They are Christians and I am a Muslim,” she said, according to her parents’ attorney.
Her younger sister Aneela Masih, who was also kidnapped but returned to her family three months ago, pleaded with her older sister to return home. The 10-year-old told her that Christmas was coming and she didn’t want her sister to spend it with those “who are not our people.”
Saba Masih appeared at the Multan branch of Lahore’s High Court yesterday along with her Muslim husband and his family. Her parents filed a contempt petition last month against her captors for failing to follow Pakistani marriage protocol.
Islamic law (sharia), however, gives a wife the right to relinquish a dowry. Lawyers said they fear that the Muslim family will pressure Saba Masih to claim this right in order to offset growing financial pressure.
Lawyers hope that if her mother can visit her, it will convince her to leave her husband and come home to the family; her family believes he has threatened her with violence if she attempts to rejoin them.
At Monday’s hearing, Saba Masih still appeared reluctant to return to her family. Relatives said they were praying that she would change her mind and that the captors would lose their influence over her.
“The main thing is Saba must be ready herself to come back,” said her uncle, Khalid Raheel, the family spokesman. “But she isn’t ready to come back yet, and I don’t know how they are convincing her.”...

When this kind of stuff happens, like the use of human shields, it can only be allowed to be successful so many times before a "shit happens" attitude must adopted with respect to the victim, and punishment is meted out to the perpetrators and those who protect them. Failure to do so is exactly how societies, like Pakistan and every other hell hole in the middle east, erode and become nearly 100% Islamic, with freedom and civility is lost for everyone.

I think I do. As Cornelius said: duress is the most likely explanation. The younger sister who, per miraculum, has been restored to the family, said straightout that "their captors threatened to kill them and their family if they did not do everything asked of them".
Poor little Saba has undoubtedly been told by her rapist/slavemaster/s that if she does not say, in court, EXACTLY what she is told to say, the murdering assassins will attack and kill all her family. And given what we know of the way that Muslims behave toward non-Muslims, all over the world, when they (Muslims) have local or national power, that threat is real.
There is, on top of that, another possibility. The Muslims may be drugging her. Accounts of Muslim kidnapping, rape and 'conversion' of Coptic Christian girls in Egypt frequently mention the use of drugs to mess with the girls' minds, weaken them physically and lower their resistance.
It would take supernatural grace, such as one sees only in the greatest of saints, for this little girl to defy her captors, overcome the terror and quite possibly also the mind-addling effects of drugs, and state in court that she is, after all, as the birth and baptismal documents say, 13, not 17, and that she has been raped, and that she is in fact not a Muslim but a Christian and only said she was a Muslim because she was forced to do so by threats.
Especially since, having previously been coerced and/or tricked into saying publicly that she is a Muslim, any statement that she were to make, confessing Christian faith, would enable the thrice-accursed evil raping kidnapping Muslims to accuse her of apostasy and give themselves a licence to murder her.

Perhaps it is time for Catholics in Washington and in Canberra and London to hold a novena...right there in the street in front of the Pakistani embassies, with protest banners displayed on behalf of Saba and Anila and the other persecuted Christians (and, indeed, all persecuted non-Muslims) of Pakistan.
Embarrass the hell out of the Pakistanis. Refuse to shut up about it. Make noise, lots of noise.
Other Christians should join the Catholics and back them up.
And while we're at it, we must make sure to point out that it isn't just the Christian girls who, in Pakistan, are targeted like this, over and over, but also the Hindu girls.

When a Catholic priest rapes a child, it is all the Catholic Chruch's fault. The media blames the papal hiearchy and immediately chokes any doubt of the man's guilt.

There might have been abuses in the Church in the past and we are fully ready to admit that. The Catholic Church, however, states that all age of consent laws must be followed and the marriage must be FULLY CONSENSUAL or it is NOT VALID. How old was Aisha when she was married? 6? I am curious how old the "husband' is. What kind of system puts a 1300 dollar price tag on a person? I'd loose my mind if that was a member of my family.
